Regrets come hand-in-hand with Fantasy Football – if you get through the season without one, you’re either extremely fortunate or you just don’t care enough. Either way, you’re unlikely to be reading this.

Most of us of come to terms with them, have learnt to ride them out and plough on regardless but, even I’ve got to admit, Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 stung a bit.

Thankfully, with Sergio Aguero harbouring his own regrets, my path to sheepishly welcome Sanchez back into the fold is signposted rather clearly.

The Sanchez wounds and the Aguero fall-out dominate this week’s ScoutCast, which also marks a debut for moderator and long-time community member AZ. He steps in with Granville tangled in political red tape to join Jonty, Andy and myself for a lengthy and lively episode.

We gripe about the volatile market, quiver in fear at the idea of the “Titan teams” and, of course, preview the weekend with a scattering of statistics, speculation and pure guesswork.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Arguing against hits make sense. Arguing against hits because you think you will get FTs "faster" is just nonsense. You won't get more FTs relative to GWs just because there are fewer days between them.. .

This is kinda my point after you brought him up on the last page. This is only my second season playing FPL and my OR is higher than VRs this year and last year. I'm sure there are many in the same boat. He isn't god. Sacrilege!

Sure, that's fair comment. I'm not saying everyone should look at my team and try to copy it. There are loads of good FPL players. He doesn't have a monopoly on good decisions.

I'm saying that looking at his team every week and planning transfers to copy him is a bit sad.

I agree, I can't imagine players blindly copying him are having much fun in FPL. But it doesn't hurt trying to learn/study/watch how he does things...it's been a proven recipe for success so far.

It seems to me that he has a monopoly on the sensible decisions, the ones that are common sense.

If you're on this site you're probably not a "leader". You're likely following someone elses lead or ideas, or at least bouncing ideas off other people. There are no original thoughts in FPL, and having a gander at a proven FPL wizard is another resource to do so.

Agreed. I don't think anyone here is obsessed with his team, and I don't think anyone copies his team. People check his team occasionally as he has the best known FPL record over many seasons, so clearly is onto something many others aren't. Hopefully if you make the top 1K as many times as he has you can be the talk of the town 😉

Now that Austin is out, it is easy, i keep Benteke. My other spot is Harry Kane. Up until now i have made it work With two 6.5-7.5 mill Attackers. If ill bring in a more expensive frontman, i need to get Money from midfield. Then its Sanchez out, most likely.( 0.1 in bank)

    So my team is: Foster
    Baines-Cedric-Walker
    Mane-Sanchez-Hazard-Sigurdsson
    Benteke-Kane-Austin. Bench: Amat-janmaat-maloney-Jakupovic.

I only have 1 free transfer.
    -Austin out for?
    - Sell Sanchez for Eriksen?
My plan to bring in a Chelsea defender, seems to be put of once again.

Im 6 point Behind leader in my mini League. I was 80 behind, so my motivation and beliefe is reignited.
    Thanks for any good advice.
(I did 4 transfers last round, for - 8 mill, so i can do a hit, if it sounds like longterm improvement.)

I wonder what the relationship is between an FPL manager's point score and the subsequent week's amount of hits. I feel if last week wasn't points mania, people wouldn't be so happy smashing out the hits this week, in the expectation of another deluge. In all honesty you only really need a -4 at worst to get Austin and Aguero out.

Do you think your Kane and Sanchez hauls have affected your riskiness towards hits?

    1. Licious Lizard

Interesting post. As someone who tend to take a hit every other week, I think teams are so set now (most have Hazard, Sanchez, Kane and Costa), that spending points on players I'm not going to captain, isn't going to pay off. For that reason, I've only done Aguero > Kane and will be benching Austin until I've seen how Iheanacho does.

Looking ahead to GW16, which of the following sets of transfers do you like most for a -4 hit.

    Option A

Firmino to Can, KDB to Hazard, Austin to Costa

    Front 8 after changes:

    Sanchez, Hazard, Can, Gundogan,Redmond
    Kane, Costa, Wilson

    Option B

Firmino to Can, Austin to Carroll, Redmond to Hazard

    Front 8 after changes:

    Sanchez, KDB, Hazard, Gundogan, Can

This is how I was set up for GW15 having taken a -8 hit already, with £0m ITB:

    ------------------Pickford---------------------
    -------------Bertrand Alonso---------------
    Redmond Sanchez Hazard Siggy Fer
    -------------Austin Kane Costa-----------
    -------------------------------------------------
    Pickford ---------- Walker Amat Nyom

£6.5m for selling Austin, what would you do:

    a) [Bertrand & Austin] > [Cedric & Iheanacho] (-8)
    b) [Austin > Anichebe] (-4), and then next week [Bertrand & Redmond] > [Cedric & Alli] (another -4)
    c) Play Walker, and then next week [Bertrand & Austin] > [Cedric & Iheanacho] (-4)

I guess I'm being sentenced to death for saying this, bug I hate Ville Ronka. He personifies the most boring manager; never taking a hit or risk. Always playing safe and rationally.

Yup. But there must be some managers in the HOF who like taking risks more often?

Seems a little harsh to hate a guy you've never met because of the way he does well at fantasy football

He plays like GTO poker. In the short run he may lose, but in the long run he always wins. When he wins though, it's like winning at stamp collecting.

    Already on a -4 hit:
    (a) Play Phillips v Chelsea or
    (b) Austin to Iheanacho for a -4 hit

I would usually be comfortable playing Phillips but I can't se WBA scoring against Chelsea.

    Thoughts & thanks.

Personally I wouldn't go for him but he's a decent short term punt. Rewards could be huge. Not convinced he's nailed, especially against the likes of Everton and City even with our injuries.

Origi - WHM mid eve STO MCI sun
Iheanacho - lei WAT ARS hul liv BUR

Has to be Origi surely? Just because of the fact you will have to transfer out Iheanacho in 4 weeks regardless

Origi should get at least 6 more gameweeks depending on Coutinho's recovery

Once lallana is fit Klopp has the option of 433 with firmino false 9 mane and lallana on the wings with Hendo can and wij in midfield. Sturridge is also a threat so I'd say origi is far from nailed.

If you aren't getting Defoe, you should get out of that price bracket altogether IMO. It is so ugly below 7m for a forward, whereas there are tons of midfielders with form, fixtures on their side.

Or go for Ibra by means of downgrading a mid priced mid to Can. So surprised this isn't a popular move. Maybe it's because Siggy and Firm have tasty fixtures this week and Ibra has Spurs. If I owned Austin I think I'd just bench this week and get Ibra next.

Am sizing this up. Luckily I can afford massive Austin sales before selling, might do the Ibra move next gameweek.

Mid priced midfielder to can saves 2m, 7m forward to Ibra is 4m+?
