Regrets come hand-in-hand with Fantasy Football – if you get through the season without one, you’re either extremely fortunate or you just don’t care enough. Either way, you’re unlikely to be reading this.

Most of us of come to terms with them, have learnt to ride them out and plough on regardless but, even I’ve got to admit, Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 stung a bit.

Thankfully, with Sergio Aguero harbouring his own regrets, my path to sheepishly welcome Sanchez back into the fold is signposted rather clearly.

The Sanchez wounds and the Aguero fall-out dominate this week’s ScoutCast, which also marks a debut for moderator and long-time community member AZ. He steps in with Granville tangled in political red tape to join Jonty, Andy and myself for a lengthy and lively episode.

We gripe about the volatile market, quiver in fear at the idea of the “Titan teams” and, of course, preview the weekend with a scattering of statistics, speculation and pure guesswork.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Wally + Austin > Eriksen + Origi OR Payet + Carroll

Like the look of that WHU combo w/ nice fixtures, but got no attacking Spurs cover and only Can for LIV

    Thoughts appreciated!
    Cheers!

I would go for the hammers duo out of those options as I'm not convinced Origi will start

Bit of a dice roll that one, and I don't like buying players knowing I'll have to get them out again in a few weeks, but tha could just be me.

IF he starts all games, IF City play well, he should score points... big ifs though.

3-5-2 is the future though 😉

    Costa. Kane. Nacho.

    Subs Grant. Phillips. Kingsley. McAuley.

    Cap'n still v unsure!

        Thanks mate!

        Can't decide.

        Haz
        Costa
        Sanchez
        Kane

It really is hard to call, my captaincy options (in order of likeliness at the moment) are:

          Hazard
          Mane
          Alonso
          Sanchez
          Costa
          Siggy
          Kane

I could still realistically choose any of them, it's on Haz at the minute for the Mike Dean factor, but I can't remember a week where there's been so many options.

Wouldn't captain Nacho, asking for a 1pt cameo that is. Possibly if you're miles behind and chasing, but only then.

    Hey all,
have a pretty standard defensive line here.. but not sure which 2 other than Alonso to start..

    Valencia - Brunt - Holebas - Amat

Leaning towards Holebas and Amat at the moment.

I am thinking Defoe for the long term for Austin. This mean it will be harder to shoehorn Sanchez into my team.
Only one person in my cash league has Defoe while a couple have Benteke.
Defoe is nailed on and seems to be able to score against most teams.
It would be easy to go with Nacho or Origi and the extra $$$ but i feel Defoe is the safer long term option.

      Thoughts?

Could always go Austin -> Anichebe for -4 this week

Than next week Snodgrass and Siggy to Sanchez and 7.0 (-4) for 3-5-2

        MANY

That would certainly be punty! But they have 3 excellent fixtures in next 4 and that is not including a leaky Liverpool. Not sure I would go for both, as Payet is probably keeping you from having Sanchez and Hazard?

Did think of taking out Sanchez as they have Eve and City away next...Eve doesn't concede more than 1 at home and City dare not lose at home to another rival....huge risk but would be a fun and punty move

Yeah it could be a good idea.
I just played the "Sanchez-Hazard game" the other day suggested by Bomber.

Basically seeing how many FT's you have spent on transferring Sanchez and Hazard in and out and comparing your combined points with the total scores. Before this week I had spent 2 FT's (excluding WC) on them netting a combined total of 100-ish points. This with 2 captaincies and 4 rounds owning both. Absolutely horrible and after that I decided to keep both unless somethis drastically changes.

But it depends on how you want to play the game I guess 🙂

Carroll arguably covers Payet - he's like 2/3rds the price, will he get 2/3rds the points? probably...

Don't really see where else the points come from in WHU apart from maybe the odd Lanzini or Noble Peno.

I wouldn't go there to be honest.
With so many performing premium forwards in Kane, Costa, Kane (Aguero) + decent medium prices options, I wouldn't want to be that inflexible.
You can easily still have Sanchez, Hazard, two big hitter forwards and decent players in the rest of the spots imo

I have literally no idea why it has posted this wrong twice already, apologies... Ah I do now... Less than symbol obviously doesn't work on replies!

Viable with the right picks certainly, not common though and that will be down to there being a genuine lack of decent nailed on (less than)5.0 attackers and the fact there is almost always more than 1 heavy hitting forward firing at any given time.

At the minute it's Costa and Kane, Defoe as well a bit further down the price bracket could very well soon add Ibra into the mix and who knows Carroll could come good as well.

Makes upgrading to an attacker when they start firing a 2 transfer job each time unless you want a load of value sat on the bench each week.

      What to do then?

Hull were pretty terrible vs Brough. 1-2 maybe

They were bad but they played 120 minutes vs Newcastle. With a such difficult program they must fight for a result.

I'm doing terrible this year. I am ranked 1.3 million and was thinking of switching up my formation in the coming weeks from a 3-4-3 to a 4-4-2. Call me crazy! The reason I want to do this is that it is the only way I would be able to afford a lot of the heavy hitters without having too much dead wood in the team. Here is a prospective lineup. What do you think?

      Pickford
      Van Dijk, Walker, Alonso, Mcauley
      Hazard, Sanchez, Firmino, Phillips
      Kane, Costa

      Subs: Jaku, Anichebe, Francis, Clayton

Do you think this would work. Bearing in mind my low rank, maybe something different like this might have a great effect with Anichebe rotating for a defender when Sunderland don't have a bad fixture?

I would say no. Would rather play Anichebe than McAuley this week too.

Hang in there. The team is looking good. I just recovered 800k in 2-3 weeks, so hang in there, keep making good logical transfers and hope that you get the captaincy right, which will be crucial in coming weeks imo.

        Good luck

Looks heavy in defence. If the budget forwards do well, you'll struggle to keep up.

How about 4-3-3 then with a better 3rd forward rather than a weak 4th midfielder?

Like above said, McAuley will struggle to do well in December.

      1) defoe
      2) carroll
      3) origi
      4) anchi and go with 3-5-2?

Easy Fix. Playing as Striker. Set-Pieces. If they put a performance like against Palace, should be set for a major haul. Although Sanchez is the safer pick. But like the punt regardless.

      WC or not WC?

      Heaton / Jakupovic*
      Pieters / Alonso / Williams / Amat / Paredes*
      Sanchez / Firmino / Capoue / Siggy / Gundogan
      Kane / Costa / Deeney

My head thinking of hits for replacing

      A) Gun -> Eriksen
      B) Williams -> 5m
