Just three days after the previous Gameweek kicked off, we brace ourselves for another round of December fixtures.

As usual, our pre-Gameweek article for members offers an assessment of the main Captain Poll contenders.

Following that, we then check out the Opta numbers and Rate My Team rankings before considering a differential or two to help advise on your armband conundrum ahead of this evening’s 6.45 deadline.

The Captain Poll

Harry Kane is the runaway leader in our Gameweek 16 Captain Poll as Tottenham Hotspur prepare for the visit of Hull City tomorrow evening.

Selected by 46% of voters, the Spurs frontman has netted twice in each of his last two home appearances since a return from injury – he faces a defence that have failed to keep out their opponents since Gameweek 2.

With Kane such a popular pick, his team-mate Christian Eriksen is selected by only 2%.

The Dane has racked up three goals and an assist in the last three Gameweeks, serving up an 18-point haul in his previous home appearance against Swansea City.

Diego Costa’s consistent form has persuaded 15% of the voters as Chelsea make their way to Sunderland.

The Spain international has produced a goal or assist in seven of the Blues’ seven road trips, whereas Eden Hazard has delivered on just three of those occasions.

With just one goal in the last four Gameweeks, only 3% are willing to back the Belgian.

Somewhat surprisingly, Alexis Sanchez earns a mere 9% of the votes for Arsenal’s trip to Everton. The Chilean is seeking a fifth double-figure away haul against a defence that’s without a clean sheet in 11 attempts.

Dimitri Payet and Michail Antonio offer real differential options as West Ham entertain a Burnley side that’s conceded 15 times in six away matches.

Payet’s free-kick at Liverpool on Sunday means he has produced points in each of the last three Gameweeks, while Antonio has bagged two goals and an assist in his previous four.

Liverpool’s in-form pair Sadio Mane and Divock Origi earn just 1% backing for a trip to Middlesbrough.

The former has a goal and four assists in three, though, while Origi has netted in each of his last four in all competitions.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is another overlooked option. Despite netting four times in his last four league outings, the United striker has persuaded just 1% of voters as he travels to a Palace side with a single clean sheet all season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I am a Lovren owner that was considering saving my transfer and rolling over to 2 frees this weekend but these two new pieces of news have swayed my thinking:

    A) P. Jones (my target) set to rise in price today/tomorrow + Lovren set to fall today/tomorrow
    B) Joe Gomez only featured 45 minutes last night in the U-23s in a planned move due to potentially participating at Boro if Lovren is out (on bench, with Klavan starting).

If I keep Lovren, I lose the 0.1m rise on Jones + if he doesn't play I have Amat coming in at West Brom, but since I also own WALCOTT + IHEANACHO (both rotation risks), I may end up doing the most unsexy transfer of all - Lovren to Jones for free...

    Sensible enough?

Other options for free are Walcott to Siggy or Firmino to Eriksen or Siggy or keeping with original plan of saving transfer.

Thx. May save or even go Firmino-> Eriksen for free. Surely Eriksen (Hull, Burnley, Southampton, Watford) will outscore Firmino (Boro, Everton, Stoke, MCity) over the wintry fixtures.

Yes he definitely should outscore. But stranger things have happened. I would keep Firmino for Boro. What's your team looking like?

I can but what's the point in that if I think Jones has a better chance of a clean sheet than Lovren, other than setting me up for an additional move for free for the weekend but then I have no knowledge of Lovren/Jones playing tomorrow so don't really gain much from that move...

      1. Ibracadabra

        9 years, 1 month ago

In my opinion he's nailed after the performance he put in against Spurs. He looked better than Rojo.

Smalling is injured and Bailly goes to AFCON in a few weeks so even if he gets rotated with Rojo alongside Bailly, at 4.7m he is a bargain in a team that loves the 1-0 win.

    Sanchez or Costa as captain?

Boring old question and the consensus here seems to be Costa, especially with Sunderland's defensive stats. But Costa's attacking stats are nothing to write home about either.

    Best striker for 6.5

Thinking of a punt on Wilson/Rondon

Alternatively, could Anichebe and use funds for a Chelsea defender

At the moment wilson / Rondon aren't a 1.6m better than Anichebe so i'd take Anichebe and Chelsea.

most will play Heaton, I've not decided yet. Llorente imo

KDB and Gundogan are falling in price tonight. Siggy and Eriksen/Payet on my radar. Should I:

          A) Play KDB and Gundo and do the transfers for free after deadline (before they play)
          B) Play KDB and Gundo and take the price drops
          C) KDB + Gundo > Payet + Siggy -4 before deadline

Is Clyne to Vertonghen worth a -4?
