The FA have this evening confirmed Luis Suarez has been found guilty of racial misconduct towards Patrice Evra and have handed the Liverpool forward an eight-match ban and a fine of £40,000, pending appeal.

The Independent Regulatory Commission announced the decision as follows:
1. Mr Suarez used insulting words towards Mr Evra during the match contrary to FA Rule E3(1);
2. the insulting words used by Mr Suarez included a reference to Mr Evra’s colour within the meaning of Rule E3(2);
3. Mr Suarez shall be warned as to his future conduct, be suspended for eight matches covering all first team competitive matches and fined the sum of £40,000;
4. the [penalty] is suspended pending the outcome of any appeal lodged by Mr Suarez against this decision.

The fourth point here is crucial- the Merseyside club have 14 days in which to contest the decision, which means that Suarez is available for selection over the next fortnight. The length of time until appeal takes in four Premier League games- (wig, BLA, NEW, mcy) – and with Kenny Dalglish’s side struggling for goals right now, there’s every chance that, for as long as the club feel he is in the right frame of mind, Suarez will take part in these games.

Liverpool have since released a strongly worded statement this evening and it’s pretty obvious, upon reading, that not only are they firmly behind their player, they will also be appealing this decision. The following excerpt sums up their thoughts:

It seems incredible to us that a player of mixed heritage should be accused and found guilty in the way he has based on the evidence presented. We do not recognise the way in which Luis Suarez has been characterised. Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name.

With the suspension on hold until after the outcome of any appeal, then, it’s impossible to speculate what games Suarez could potentially miss. Given that the FA have taken two months to reach this decision, it’s fair to say the likely appeal won’t be rapidly resolved.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Seasons Greetings everyone!

I have a tactical question and would like to know what you all think I could/should do...

I have 2 free transfers and have done one already (Raylor out / Evans in). Now, with Dyer injured (out) I was planning on fixing that problem with a Moses/Surman move. On my proposed transfer plan I have 4 free transfers to do 5...so a hit is on the cards at some point. Now...

    1. Do I do the Dyer - out and Moses/Surman in as my last free transfer and leave it?
    2. Do I go tactical and move out Brunt and Suarez and bring in Sturridge and Nani - Means a 4pt hit?
    3. Do I do #1 and take the hit next week for the Brunt/Suarez out move?

I basically have the Ward - out move lingering also which I tend to do to bring in a Spurs player. Should I be more worried about Ward (thus scrapping the Dyer-out move and correcting that with my free)? And finally...if my question isn't large enough...is Brunt out better than say...Walters out?

I know this is a hectic set of questions so any tip or advice will be great...even if it only covers one aspect of ALL my queries. Thanks guys...

i think patience is key here, wait for after the games are played to see whether there is any injury for ur big hitters
keep suarez for the moment but keep an eye on his transfers out, u dnt want his price to fall too much, although he wnt drop more than 0.2 i think since he is protected by the high ownership of the sleepers 9price drop works based on % of owners selling)
i think walters is a season keeper for his price unless u bought too expensive and it wnt penalise u to sell him
brunt ddnt show anything this season, 4-4-2 isnt working for him

Kewl...will take all the advice on board...What I can say though is since my season started so poorly I kinda just went with whatever and have somehow clawed my way back up the ladder in most of the leagues I'm in. I'm a little apprehensive to change what seems to be working for me so early transfer, late transfer...it doesn't matter at this point. I have been taking 4pt knocks leading up to now (2 I think) and have made up the ground regardless...I will hang on transfers though but will act if price drops/rises are forecast. I've been keeping tabs on that so...

I'll hang on to the last transfer for as long as possible though...I'm hoping Dyer manages to make some miraculous appearance and stop me from that move for now...although his lack of starts is starting to bother me now..

        Anyway...thanks guys...

Who's gonna score more over the next 2 games, Jones or Rooney? Jones could have scored a monster haul last game... would mean I could keep Ade as well.

Bit of both. Hoping Nani plays but if not Valencia will as SAF has to play 2 of 3 really. Best case both play, worst case 1 should.

Was going to say that it's probably not ideal taking up one of your mid spots with someone that may not play (assuming the worse, that SAF only plays one of them), but then again, you're replacing Dyer, so that's a decent upgrade. I still like B I think, Morison looked good against Wolves, has good recent form, decent enough fixtures until you can WC him out, and frees up money to upgrade Dyer in a big way. And Simpson isn't really someone you need to lose, he's been great this year for a cheap defender.

    bear with me.

GW18 squad (GW19 opponent in parentheses)

    Vorm(TOT)

    Enrique(NEW), Evans(BLA), Shotton(WIG)

    Silva(sun), Nani(BLA), Mata(AV), Bale(swa)

    RVP(QPR), Adebayor(swa), Sturridge(AV)

    (Brown, Moses, Kelly, Krul)

Barring injury (yeah i know), i have no problem throwing the same XI out there GW19.
So with the WC coming, anyone think it mad to save a transfer, and do a double move of Brown, Krul OUT, and BAE, Moreira IN for GW20? Just roll with swansea until I want to WC? 4 games in 4 gameweeks at home to WBA, EVE, WOL, and WIG for BAE? Surely there are more returns to be had there than whatever difference krul would make over vorm in that time frame?

im ok without VDV. bale and ade are enough. Maybe if nani, silva or mata get crocked by then, but VDV always a risk in any game. Would it be a shock if he came up lame in the first game and missed the double or if he were rested for one of those two? nahh, rather have the defender. Im hoping for two cleanies out of the 4, anything more in attack would be gravy.

actually, its sets up well nicely in case of injury to one of my expensive players, should one go down before then, they would be involed in a double move instead of fussing with krul.

    Current team for GW18 is:

    Vorm QPR (H)

    Assou-Ekotto NOR (A) / Simpson BOL (A) / Jones WIG (H)

    Drenthe SUN (A) / Bale NOR (A) / Nani WIG (H) / Silva WBA (A)

    Van Persie WOL (H) / Adebayor NOR (A) / Ba BOL (A)

    Bench Hennessey, Hibbert, Naylor, Dyer

    Planned to do:

    1. Naylor -> evans - would mean doubling up on united defence for their good fixtures, is evans pretty much sure of game time now? will make 0.2 on naylor and although swansea defence has done me proud not sure it will last through to the second half of season.

    2. Ba -> Sturridge - will make 0.2 on Ba and he is off to ACON soon, sturridge has home fixture but Ba could easily bag a couple against bolton.

I think it depends on the appeal and if they do appeal.

If they don't appeal, he'll only miss 4 PL matches by my reckoning with FA Cup Rd 3&4 and Carling Cup Semi - both legs. I'm not convinced Carroll will get 3 in 4 or even if he'll start ahead of Kuyt up front....

If they do appeal, he could miss more PL games but the ban could get reduced ... tricky one.

What should i do with the two free transfers i have? The obvious one is ba-> sturridge.

Hmm, probably easier for me as I am getting Evans in and have Mata for Chelsea 'cover'
But Bolton are pretty shite, I'd see how Ba/Sturridge look today before considering it.

I'm thinking about hanging onto Ba up until the WC at the moment. Was planning to do the transfer to Sturridge too after this week or next, but with other priorities leading up to the DGW, it will mean doing it for a hit probably. Which is still an option. The reason people are dumping Ba for Sturridge is the better fixtures, but Ba has performed in some tough fixtures so far this season, including a hat-trick (and 3 bps) away to Stoke, an assist away to City and a goal (and 2 bps) away to United. So an away trip to Liverpool and a home game against United aren't dire for a player like Ba in my opinion. I'll probably dump him for Sturridge after listening to wiser advice than this though... 😉

agreed not obvious, but i see the reasoning if you dont want to waste a free transfer, and you dont want sturridge's price to go up any more before next GW. wilkinson->shotton? if you are happy otherwise?

I am pretty short of funds (0.1 in the bank), hence the ba->sturridge move must happen sooner than later. My team value is decent but i really am unable to free up money.

Yeah, quite like the below transfers - would probably also consider J Evans for Agger, Rooney for Aguero, although I know you like having that treble.

I was just reading on a liverpool forum yesterday that people were saying Agger might be rested for 1 of the games over Christmas which is why Carra was brought on at the end of the last match.

Hoolahan is my 2nd favourite footballer on the planet. So just note that before my response.

I feel as though he's keeping the team ticking over. I saw him against Newcastle for the first time ever (Norwich to Melbourne is a long way) and his vision is brilliant. He'd lift his head and make sure he plays the right pass. He's not a bad differential midfielder option. Watch our fixtures though, then again we're the 5th or 6th highest scorers in the league, so he'll be amongst the points often

He got in good positions this morning, had a few decent shots on target too.

            Loving these 6:45am / 7:00am (Sydney time) kick-offs!

I'll be checking from work tomorrow. 4:59am train, thank God it's well paid. Well, it is when you're 18!

And staying up until 4am to watch Norwich on a Sunday morning. That's dedication!
