Gareth Bale is “very doubtful” for Spurs game against Chelsea. Emmanuel Adebayor has a foot problem but is expected to play. John Terry and Ramires are passed fit for the clash, while Jamie O’Hara is sidelined for up to six weeks after undergoing hernia surgery:

Andre Villas-Boas had some positive news on the injury front in this afternoon’s press conference. Both John Terry and Ramires are available for tomorrow night’s trip to Spurs, though David Luiz has been ruled out, having failed to recover from a knee problem.

Chelsea have also this afternoon confirmed their Boxing Day clash with Fulham will take place at the scheduled time of 1pm. The game had been under review due to the proposed industrial strike on the London Underground but after consideration, the club have made the decision to go ahead as planned.

Harry Redknapp’s Press Conference was a little more pessimistic in terms of injury news. Although the Spurs boss admitted Aaron Lennon’s hamstring problem is not as bad as first feared, he has concerns over the availability of key players ahead of the Chelsea game, with Gareth Bale the main concern:

Gareth’s struggling at the moment. He hasn’t been able to train. He’s very doubtful. It normally takes six or seven days for Ledley’s knee to go down, so we’ll have to wait and see how it is today and tomorrow. He’ll be 50-50 at best I would imagine. Jermain, again, has a bit of a hamstring. He thinks he’s got a chance, but the physio isn’t keen on him taking a chance. Ade’s got a foot problem, we’ll see how he is. He can’t train today, but we’re hopeful. He doesn’t miss too many games.

Jamie O’Hara is set to miss the next 4-6 weeks after undergoing double hernia surgery. The midfielder was sidelined for the weekend home game against Stoke with a calf injury but the club’s official website revealed today that O’Hara has been bothered with a hernia problem for some time and the decision has been made to operate, thus ensuring he is 100% fit for the rest of the campaign.

Johan Djourou and Kieran Gibbs are both out of Arsenal’s trip to Aston Villa this evening. Arsene Wenger had expected the latter to be available but Gibbs has suffered a setback, meaning either Thomas Vermaelen or Ignasi Miquel could start at left-back. Djourou’s absence means Laurent Koscielny is likely to be fielded at right-back, with Bacary Sagna and Carl Jenkinson still both sidelined.

GW18 two freebies. Silva out Drenthe in, Ba out Rooney in.
          GW19 Save it.
GW20 Nani out VDV in, Kompany out Baines in.

Gives me 5 DGW (Adebayor, VDV, Bale, Drenthe & Baines) players with no point hits. Post GW20, activate wildcard to get everything back in order.

Just to clarify a couple of points regarding Terry and Suarez that cropped up earlier...

The reason Terry has been investigated by the Police and Suarez has not, is that the Police received complaints about the Terry incident but not about Suarez, simple as that. If Evra or a member of pubic who witnessed it had made a complaint it would have been investigated in the same way.

The Terry prosecution is all a bit lightweight and toothless and will act only to prove his guilt or otherwise. He can only be tried the Magistrates, not the Crown Court and the offence carries only a maximum £2500 fine! The real penalty will be bestowed by the FA should he be found guilty in court.

Good point. And no member of the public could make a complaint against Suarez because nobody on or off the pitch heard what he said apart from Evra.

In court it's beyond reasonable doubt and his likely defence - the one where he says 'I *didn't* call you a black barsteward' - will mean he gets cleared.

On the balance of probabilities, he'd be found guilty - and this is the test the FA could apply. We'll see though.

109.8, but I've been a 8pter lunatic to build value. Slacking off now, don't mind taking hits to build value early on, get the optimum squad for the 2nd half of the season. 100 mil gets you 2000 points per season, so 10 mil gets you 100 in half a season. Thus I don't mind spending 50 pts on hits in the first 19 GWs.

    Novaro vs Palermo

So first lets talk about the home team, the bad news is Novaro have only won two games this year but the good news is both those games were at home. They play on an artificial turf and I think this is a huge advantage to any team who is used to playing on it. The only absentees for Novaro are defenders Centurioni and Dallafiore.

And now Palermo, what can I say about Palermo? Well they are the worst away side in the division (they haven’t even scored a goal away from home yet this season), they have lost their last two games (after Sundays defeat they sacked their manager) and to top it off they are missing some good players: ‘keeper Tzorvas, defender Pisano, midfielder Zahavi, striker Hernandes (second highest scorer). And striker Pinilla is suspended.

I think Novaro represent good value @ 13/10.

    Good luck.

i appreciate its a huge game for Novaro, but with the corruption of Italian football in recent years I always cover myself by betting the draw. When i said its not a big game, i meant that they are both relatively small teams not to do with the importance of the game. I like your logic and its always well thought out I just dont trust Italian football

The next few GW's anyone think a punt on Valenica is a good idea?

Hes apporx £7.8mill (working off memory) and has scored some cracking points recently and no need to be worried about being rested for games in CL anymore and has been whipping in some great balls on the wing?

That could free up some big bucks for other parts of my team.

    bale + yakubu out

    walters + sturridge in

    4 point hit

obviously would be difficult to get bale back in, as i bought him at 7.9.

    thoughts? pull the trigger?

stoke and chelsea coverage (and i don't currently have any) look important over the next 3-4 GWs anyways. tot and (certainly) bla, not so much? keeping ade/drenthe/jags...enough dgw coverage?

wait fpr today to see Bale playing. If he does not play, sell and earn money, his price will go down. If he plays, than his price remains. better keep 'cause of DGW. Or swap to VDV

        sounds sage advice.

i can afford a price rise of 0.1 for sturridge to still do the move i mention above, so waiting for the spurs game is a possibility. surely sturridge won't go up AGAIN tomorrow night?!?!

Fiso have him rising tonight, but NTI doesn't look anywhere near high enough for him to go up again tomorrow. Doubt there'll be a run on the bank before the Spurs game; maybe after but you'll have your info by then.

Bale and VDV suffered last season after injurys I think. Its not Spurs first game that worries me but the EFC game in the DGW....EFC always have a great Jan through to May and beat a team doing well to kick it off and they have Donnvan and Drenthe coming back/starting again!

I getting rid of both Ade + VDV to bring in Rooney, but will save 2 transfers for the DGW should I wish to bring one / both back. To be honest, with these niggles I'm not sure Spurs will batter Norwich away, and then they go to Swansea who have let in just 2 goals at home all season.

Thanks for the reply. I kept Shaw+ specially for the upcoming gameweeks. Aston Villa are terrible at defending set pieces so Shawcross could get a goal if Crouch is not around haha.

First bench spot is between Gower (H @ QPR) or Drenthe (A @ SU). I know my bench will play a part because of players getting rested so maybe both will play. BAE goes for third on my bench because Norwich seem to always score.

What annoys me as well is his claim that understanding was that it wasnt an offensive remark and can be almost a friendly jokey comment. When they were having their 'spat' they werent exactly being friendly so he was unlikely to be saying anything joking. He knew what he was saying and he said it to get the reaction, he knew it was racist. What he didnt grasp was that in this country football is trying to completely stamp out racism.

Good to see old Kenny backing him though - arse!

“I was down to Wigan four weeks ago, when they played Blackburn. Wigan’s a good club for me because there’s generally spare seats in the far stand, away from the main one.

“Dressed in jeans, cap over my ears, scarf over my chin, I went to the woman at the window. ‘Can I buy a ticket?’ She said, ‘Can we have your details?’ ‘Do you have to?’ I asked. She said it was okay and I handed over my 20 quid, got my ticket. ‘Good value’, I thought. Watched the game, enjoyed it, pie at half-time, six goals, no one recognised me, didn’t have to make small talk, good day.” Encouraged, he returned to the DW stadium two weeks later for the Arsenal game. Parking his car a mile from the ground, he ran from there and returned to the lady he had dealt with for the Blackburn ticket. There were just over 19,000 people inside the ground, leaving more than 5,000 empty seats.

“With my cap and scarf, she didn’t know who I was. ‘Listen, I was here two weeks ago and bought a ticket then, can I buy one now?’ She said this was a different category game and she needed my details. I gave my name and address. ‘You’re not on the system’, she said. ‘I know’, I said, ‘but I bought a ticket two weeks ago and you said it was okay’. ‘That was for Blackburn’, she said. ‘Okay’, I said, ‘I’ll buy a season ticket’. She said it wasn’t possible. ‘You’re not on the system’. And I said, ‘I think your club is £37m in debt and you don’t want my money’.

“I did give her a little bit of lip and she said she would call security. ‘Call them’, I said. The security guy came along, put his hands on my arm. ‘Get your hands off me’, I said. He did. I strolled back to my car and drove home.”

All the hate for Wigan but we've managed to stay up for 7 years as one of the poorest clubs in one of the most money dominated sports in the World 🙂

          @ all who replied

          Fair enough banter then 🙂

I well laugh it all myself, and true about the fan comment, to an extent! I find it fairly embarrassing at the matches sometimes when there is such a poor turnout (and I would love to be at the match right now but couldn't make it) - the irony.

Still, proud of the way we play and while always being in the bottom half, we have a fighting spirit and upset people in the big matches on the odd occasion.

On people liking Wigan, somewhat true...the pies are pretty amazing 🙂

Is anyone considering Ba->Sturridge this week? Ba leaves for the African Cup of Nations in GW21 (or GW22 if we're very lucky) and Chelsea's fixtures look very favorable compared to Newcastle's.

I might do Yakubu -> Sturridge if I don't use all my money swapping Adebayor to Rooney.

I got both at the moment...swapped Aurego out of Ba before Citys big GW's and its been one GW hit for me one GW missed. I am dropping BA after the Bolton GW not worth it then, with ACON inc. Cut my money and run 😀

I have them both. I want Rooney this week and Ba is the one to go as I'd rather keep Sturridge for those fixtures.

My selling price for Ba is 7.1 if I do my planned move to get Rooney for Ade I will have 0.3 in bank. Therefore I should be safe to wait until after Newc play Bolton to get Sturridge.

Lots of people have Bale too (or at least they did before ths random injury) and adebayor, Most people have only got Evans in this week too I reckon. The thing is you can see plenty of teams with these players in, but some of them will be ranked really poorly because they didnt plan well whereas others will be doing well because they spotted these players early.
