Sergio Aguero continues to create drama.

Today’s first act was an early afternoon bombshell from Manchester which sent shockwaves as Pep Guardiola’s teamsheet hit home.

Then, as the clock struck four, the second act followed: enter Aguero stage left to revive a ten-man City with a finish of sublime quality.

The full performance, spanning three hours, with Pep directing and Aguero as the dashing leading man, summed up our season so far with the Argentine.

It seems the days when Aguero settled in our squads and quietly went about the business of saving our Gameweeks are long gone.

Now the striker seems to insist on seeking the headlines and, just when we begin to settle on the idea of Aguero returning to his familiar groove, Pep intervenes with his own unpredictable flashes.

Some may have anticipated a benched Aguero against Burnley but I was certainly not among them.

Foolishly attempting to play “second guess Pep”, I presumed that he had earmarked the visit of the Clarets as an opportunity to ease Aguero back into goalscoring form.

Instead, according to his post-match comments, he looked to protect his striker from exertion following his unconvincing run-out at Anfield.

“He played 90 minutes after four games out and I did not consider him playing 90 minutes again after two days.”

That seems plausible but why start him on the bench rather than use him to get in front and then hook him early?

Match fitness is surely the issue, and, with a rest in the FA Cup tie next weekend on the cards, why not allow Aguero to regain that sharpness with a start?

Such questions and arguments fall on deaf ears: Pep doesn’t answer to me, other Fantasy managers and perhaps not even to the City fans. Judging by his post-match interview, he barely answers to journalists.

We know he plays by his own rules and that those rules are so often hideously difficult to decipher.

By the end of act two, Aguero had delivered. A seven point return isn’t perhaps a cause for celebration for the 135,000 who transferred him in, or indeed the 11% who gave him the armband. But it came as a huge relief given the reaction at 2pm.

However, do today’s events add to the doubts and concerns surrounding Peps approach to Aguero?

Given that City’s Champions League campaign will accelerate again in February and, by that time, they may even be cast adrift in the title race, will Pep’s attitude to Aguero’s pitch time hinder the striker’s potential further?

There is also another factor.

Gabriel Jesus is now a Manchester City player. A precocious talent, Pep has made it clear that he is about to become another option.

“Now Gabriel Jesus is coming so we will have of course three strikers who can sense a goal.”

This won’t help matters.

We had doubts already but Pep’s approach and teamsheet for Burnley’s visit to the Etihad, just day’s after losing ground following the defeat to Liverpool, has perhaps compounded matters.

Following two acts of ill-discipline, we’re not sure if we can trust Aguero. We’re also not sure if Pep can be trusted to get him on the pitch in the first place.

Aguero had the final say with another reminder of his brilliance. We know the quality he brings but are we willing to risk the hefty fee to buy into the circus that comes with it?

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hi DZ. I have these transfers in mind for the next few GWs. They're not my stone cold plans, but they are all things I am thinking of doing. What do you think??

Firmino ➡ Eriksen (this week, he is -94 on FPLStatistics though)
Lallana ➡ Coutinho (when back and if he looks good)
Snodgrass ➡ Phillips (when Snoddy's fixtures turn)

    Heaton
    Alonso, David Luiz, Brunt
    Sanchez, Firmino, Lallana, Snodgrass
    Ibra, Costa, Defoe

    Pickford, de Roon, Holebas, Amat

    CHE assets:
There has been a lot of talk on here debating if one should own double CHE assets based on upcoming fixture. But ignoring the FPL 1-5 difficulty rating, I really like the look of their fixtures in the next 10 GWs! Ok, the trip to Anfield and the visit of ARS, but not super scary really?
Also there has been concerns expressed about the 2 goals conceded v Stoke, but they scored 4 showing great spirit!
I have triple CHE and am very reluctant to sell atm. If Hazard fails to produce in the GW21 and GW22 fixtures, well then yes of course I will reconsider. Especially if Coutinho comes back to form!
But barring that I'm happy to hold my CHE assets!
Or am I missing something, thoughts?

Let them. Its true Chelsea will get defensive and will see some Cahill/Costa 1-0 games, but the upcoming fixtures are excellent. And last time out when we won the league, Hazard got strings of 11 pointers as well as Costa. And Alonso at wingback is the biggest gift of this season.

Why on earth did Nyom get 8 points and Friend only 1 point? Nyom played just 6 minutes more in a team that conceded! Does the 60 minute clean sheet rule need to be looked at? TFF award part clean sheet points which seems like common sense to me.

I don't think a defender should get clean sheet points when his team has already conceded. think the same should apply to the players who are subbed off as well.

yep, I do. but i can understand your point where the team has actually not conceded a goal yet.

i dont like that a player can come on at say 30 mins when his team could have already conceded 3 and still get clean sheet points. especially when coming on at 32 mins vs 30 mins can result in a 5 point swing. thats just pure luck imo

yes, rules are rules. There has to be a cut off somewhere. It's been the same for 10 years.

Luck plays a part in most FPL scoring at times though? A player doesn't get an assist when he earns his team a penalty if the penalty is missed for example - not his fault the penalty was missed.

I think the rule needs to be looked at. It's a source for unfairness. Do you think it is perfect?

It seems to have worked for many years now without many obvious problems. Only controversy I remember is when a player comes off right around 60.00 minutes, and there may be exact timing issues.

I've always what would happen in that instance. Would they go down a few decimal places on the refs watch? 😉

Nyom came on at 30, Friend on 33.
      Hence 60 and 57 minutes.
Injury time doesnt count as it makes up for original minutes.
Say if a player is down for 2-3 minutes, a player doesn "play"

I think the clean sheet rule is working well as it is now. Whatever way these minutes or injury time are taken into account there's always someone who will be disappointed.

I disagree. The part clean sheet bonus from TFF works very well and is simple common sense. If the rules were perfect and never needed to be reviewed, we wouldn't have things like save points today.

With TFF (i play myself) I believe Nyom would have only got 1 point though and Friend 3, as team has to keep clean sheet to qualify for part CS. That could also be interpreted as unfair as Nyom didn't concede when on pitch. See where you're coming from but I think FPL should stick to their rules and TFF theirs

is it worth getting sanchez now? he is really expensive but I have over 2 ITB (so would replace for hazard because chelsea's fixtures aren't that kind) as i have no standout captaincy option for the next 2 weeks.

i dont own costa and dont really wanna get him

basically comes down to sanchez + phillips or haz + walcott (if he's fit)

Worth getting Sanchez as he plays Swansea next and followed by Watford and Burnley at Home. Walcott is still injured and doubts persist on his upcoming games if Giroud is bang on form.

Also, having no Hazard/Costa when Chelsea plays Hull at GW22 is quite a big risk as well.

    A) Walcott in a 3-5-2 if fit from next week

    B) Rondon or Benteke in a 3-4-3 (Have Brunt & Phillips)

Walcott's fixtures are so tempting (swa, WAT, BUR, che, HUL)

And there are so many options in midfiled so you can chop & change.

I'm not sure if Palace will score as many goals as they were scoring under Pardew. Zaha gone to AFCON will also hamper Benteke's productivity and he could be off pens.

Thinking of doing Amat to Ake which would give me:

    Heaton
    Alonso Pieters Ake
    Sanchez (c) Hazard Firmino Snodgrass
    Kane Benteke Carroll

    Subs: Foster Chambers Chadli Jones

Anyone see any better transfers? I currently have 0.6 in the bank.

People keep telling me to get Dele Ali but I'm not so sure - before GW16 he wasn't so special and I think this current form could just be a flash in the pan. Also I think these fixtures look tough:

Chelsea (home) - may struggle to score
West Brom (home) - WB will park the bus
Man City (away) - won't be easy
Sunderland (away) - are resilient at home
Middlesborough (home) - Boro will park the bus
Liverpool (away) - won't be easy

Maybe after these fixtures I may get a spurs mid in. What do you think?

I don't think you've missed any boat. Alli only has about 8 or 9 % ownership. I got him today. Would have waited but was about to be priced out. I think those fixtures are fine for him. You've already missed the chelsea game deadline. WBA mci sun MID is good imo

      He'll score against Chelsea.

Spurs had a very tight schedule in the first half. They don't have any league cup or European football till Feb now. Only FA Cup fixture in which he will rotate. I expect them to get some points from these games.
