Tuesday night treats us to three more matches as the festive schedule finally starts to wind up.

Bournemouth and Arsenal go head-to-head at the Vitality Stadium in the 7.45pm kick-off, with Olivier Giroud looking to score for the third successive match – the Frenchman opened 2017 in style, thanks to his scorpion kick effort at home to Palace. He starts for the third successive outing this evening.

Second in our Gameweek 20 Captain Poll, Alexis Sanchez is looking for a fifth double-figure haul on his travels, yet faces a resilient Cherries rearguard that’s served up four clean sheets in front of their own supporters. Sanchez remains on the flank as a result of Giroud’s start but has fired in 17 attempts from that position in the last two Gameweeks – more than any other player.

Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha will look to take advantage of Swansea City’s dire defence in an 8pm kick-off at Selhurst Park.

The Belgian has the chance to play his way into consideration as the schedule turns in Palace’s favour, though Zaha owners will be searching for a way out after tonight’s fixture as he’s set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Finally, Stoke City entertain Watford in the other later match as Joe Allen and Etienne Capoue go head-to-head in the battle of the budget midfielders.

With the likes of Matt Phillips and Robert Snodgrass stepping up in form over Christmas, owners of both Allen (one goal since Gameweek 8) and Capoue (a single strike since Gameweek 5), will surely be considering their options over the FA Cup weekend break.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Sunderland fan here, and 'wasted' is a matter of perspective. No doubt he's good enough to be scoring goals at the other end of the table, but whether he's fashionable enough to get games in a team with a realistic chance of winning things is another matter. For me the players who waste their careers are those who spend their peak years as squad fillers at the bigger clubs, only playing in throwaway cup games or when the top boys are injured. Defoe's made himself a Sunderland legend, playing every week &scoring goals consistently at the top level over the past few years. There are worse ways for a player in his 30s to go out.

His calibre yes top notch of course.
I like the way eh treats the media. They are the petty and petulant ones imo. Football journalists around the world would love to report regularly on Guardiola and it wouldn't be a campaign of sh**ting on him, only in England. I think the stuff he says that you are taking umbrage to is in response to all the sh*t he is copping in the press.

Hi all hows this lot looking going forward. Sadly I activated my WC as I wanted the big 3 up top, sacrificing Hazard, Mane and Alonso to achieve it.

    Current WC draft:

    Heaton, Robinson
Baines, Jones, Ake, McAuley, Holgate (fodder)
Sanchez, Alli, Lallana, Phillips, De Roon
    Ibra, Kun, Costa

    £0.0ITB

    Current team value: £105.7

Feel like regardless of what Man City are doing though, Kun is practically essential if you can find a way of getting him in?.

I don't want to be one of a group of people that miss out on a potential Kun mega haul?.

Needs Liv mid. Maybe sack-up and get Defoe to free up 3-5.0. That defense actually looks like it could fly, it'd be nice to Holgate> 4.4. IMO GL

Wenger made a big mistake starting Giroud vs Bournemouth. That game was crying out for Sanchez's movement up top instead they played a lot of early crosses to a very static frontman that Bournemouth could defend all day. That was as bad as I can remember seeing Arsenal play, though Bournemouth were very very good. Tiredness and no Ozil doesn't excuse it. They got destroyed tactically as much as anything else. Howe is a friggin genius.

I agree with those that think the 2 days rest v 1 day rest was the biggest issue, though. I know WBA managed a win but Palace, Arsenal and Watford looked well off the pace.

Yeah was a big issue for sure. I think Wenger screwed up tactically regardless. Also all the credit in the world to Bournemouth they were fantastic yet again. Feel bad for them not getting the 3.

I thought Howe made a mistake. At 3-0 he bought off Frazer and another attacker and went defensive. Frazer who with his speed was tearing up Arsenal. When he came off Arsenal could push up

That is a good point. Up until then he'd played it perfectly but yeah he did fall into that ol trap didn't he. The red card didn't help.

Yes, hard to consider him a tactical genius after losing a 3-0 lead. Fun game though.

I wouldn't have any problem being patient this week but went early as I couldn't do my trades if I waited. Expecting it to bite me in the bum.

Yep, sadly I got to trigger happy and hit the WC button.

I know I will most likely regret it but after spending ages tinkering with the team and finding a half decent way to fit in the big 3 upfront and Sanchez in my midfield I went transfer crazy.

If you have an ACON absentee then it's a tricky one. They need to go regardless so the risk of their replacement getting injured in the Cup is probably worth taking - a lot of them will get a rest anyway.

Should I do Lallana > Stanislas & upgrade Anichebe. Or Upgrade Barry to Stanislas and play 3-5-2

    Heaton
    Luiz / Brunt / Koscielny
    Sanchez / Lallana / Hazard / Phillips
    Ibra / Anichebe / Kane

    Bench: Jaku, Amat, Love, Barry

    B) brunt vs spurs

WBA away from home will play very defensive, Id be stunned if Brunt returned anything but a 1 or 2pter.

More likely a better chance with Jones considering Mane, Coutinho and maybe Sturridge will all be missing.

Pieters has been doing alright. Also a wing back when they play three at the back. Has been edging close to bonus as well

Pieters has been really solid, why he's not 4.5? Unless you have Grant in goal. Use it elsewhere.

Yes, I've had him for way too many gameweeks. If he's out he's gone for a hit. Otherwise he has a stay of two gameweeks, then it's downgrade hazard and upgrade tekkers. Probably lukaku
