Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Wednesday

The festive fixture list finally draws to its conclusion this evening as Tottenham Hotspur welcome Chelsea to White Hart Lane at 8pm.

Four of the top seven captains for Gameweek 20 – Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexis Sanchez, Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku – have already found the net earlier in the week.

The remaining three, Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Harry Kane, have it all to do, then, with Costa the most popular of that trio – 11.6% have backed the Spain international, compared to Hazard (4.7%) and Kane’s 2.8%.

Costa, certainly, has been the more impressive of the Chelsea pair on his travels – the Spain international has scored eight away goals compared to Hazard’s two.

Yet the league leaders won’t have it easy – Spurs boast the tightest home defence in the top-flight, with just five goals against in front of their own fans.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have been similarly resilient, conceding just one goal in six away matches since Antonio Conte switched to a 3-4-3 set-up.

Nonetheless, many Fantasy managers will be keeping a keen eye on Kane along with Deli Alli and Christian Eriksen, with the fixtures set to smile kindly on Spurs from Gameweek 21 onwards.

Not sure I'm confident about Giroud starting every game. Seems in good form though but Wenger needs to consider why they played so badly for so long till Perez came on

This. It was very noticeable that Sanchez started the comeback by not sticking to the touchline, as he had throughout the first half, probably not following instructions.

    4. A.T
      • 13 Years
      7 years, 2 months ago

I can't see it myself. Wenger made the decision in the summer to play Sanchez centrally and barring bad form he'll stay there. Giroud has come in over the busy festive period to help rotate the squad. Yes he's been effective but I can't see Wenger returning to him full time.

    Grant (Heaton)
    Alonso Rose Ake (Baines, Brunt)
    Sanchez Eriksen Alli Antonio (Philips)
    Ibra Giroud Negredo

Happy with defense and goalies, midfield and attack may change as also looking to get Costa after gw 24 (Arsenal), but for next 3 gw no transfers planned.

I must say I'm a bit torn on Alli - it's not all hype as he is a fantastic talent, but there are too many parallels to the Son bandwagon from earlier in the season. If I was comfortable captaining him, I'd probably go for it - but at the moment he only looks like a captaincy option with the benefit of hindsight - he's not really been mentioned in captain polls over his last 3 weeks. I'm thinking I'll swallow the 0.1 and sleep on it a bit.

I have Eriksen and I feel he's the better bet long term. As you say Son, Kane, Alli - all will have their spells of good and bad fortune, but Eriksen looks like providing assists and the odd goal all season long from his set pieces and being the last midfielder to arrive in the box.

You've gone with the big 3 for a reason I guess, I think you'll have the temptation a lot given its been a year for the midfielders (seems to be a new one each week or two) and you are likely to be priced out unless its sanchez you are changing.

      Stick

Two questions to the football intelligentsia...

    1) what's happened to Southampton? Saw highlights only against Everton.. Jrod was unlucky not to get points I think. But three defeats on the bounce... An avoid?

    2) rude gestede going to Boro. Just a backup for Negrado? Has he been starting for Villa this season?

I was thinking the same, but then went Phillips last week.

      1) Southampton were badly tired against Everton and without vvd.And a lack of a proper striker is hurting them. Better to avoid their front line.

      2) Gestede should be more of a competition to Negredo. Scored 4 goals in 19 starts for villa

    Choose one

    A) Azpi, Baines, Hazard

    B) Brunt, Baines, Eriksen

Baines is in both. Not fair comparisons honestly. A is way more expensive than B and should return more in the longer run.

Can we assume that A is what you've got and B is what you're thinking about?

Alli will certainly rise by at least 0.2, maybe even 0.3.

Anyone know if Spurs make many changes for early cup games? They could play a 2nd team that should still be good enough to beat Villa.

    Vorm,
    Trippier, Wimmer, Dier, Davies
    Winks, Onomah/Carroll
    Sissoko, Son, N'Koudou
    Janssen

Maybe they will rest the likes of Kane, Alli and Eriksen anyway? (I'm hoping!)

Yep, probably 1 or 2 of the regulars will probably start but shouldn't be much more than that.

Just want to get a general idea in case i decide to bring in Alli today.

what is the best team you think ? Sanchez, hazard, Phillips, Ibra, kane is in all drafts.

    A : 3-4-3 With Antonio & Defoe

    B : 3-4-3 With Stanislas & Lukaku

    C : 3-5-2 With Alli & Pogba/Mkhi/Walcott/Coutinho + 1-2 mill to use elsewehere.

Now that the second wildcard is available. Some are thinking of using it while others are leaving it till DGW. Is DGW the best time to use it or the week before? Anyone got burnt by DGW because the players they wildcard were rested?

WC the week before the DGW and then use tripleC/boost chip on the DGW. Worked well for me last season, got 171 points

Week before DGW or in between DGWs if more than one

Lots were burned by Liverpool rotation last season if I recall

Probably not for a hit. Carroll didn't start against utd so he should now start against a leaky Palace defense who have conceded the most headers in the league this season.
