Versus – Eriksen & Alli

After ending Chelsea’s winning run by netting both Spurs’ goals in a 2-0 victory at the Lane, Dele Alli is the hottest property around in Fantasy Premier League right now.

Subject to a massive 303,000+ acquisitions since the previous deadline passed, the midfield starlet has netted twice in each of his last three appearances, as Mauricio Pochettino’s men prepare for a kind run of fixtures.

Spurs face West Brom, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Stoke City in their next six Gameweeks.

Alli’s headline-hogging surge to third in the FPL midfield standings has somewhat overshadowed the form of team-mate Christian Eriksen, who has been acquired by 57,000+ managers ahead of Saturday’s home clash with the Baggies.

Priced at 8.5 and 8.6 respectively, this latest article for members will assess the midfield duo’s recent displays since striker Harry Kane’s return to action from an ankle problem.

Factoring in injuries to both Kane and Alli, we will focus our attentions from Gameweek 13 onwards – essentially, the first time that the pair, along with Eriksen, had appeared in Pochettino’s starting line-up since a 4-0 win at Stoke City back in Gameweek 4.

In terms of FPL output during that spell, the two midfield options have been remarkably similar, with Eriksen just edging it by 74 points to 72.

Alli has been slightly more consistent, delivering a goal on six of those eight occasions to Eriksen’s five, though the Dane has proven the more explosive.

Whereas Alli has managed 10+ points on three occasions, Eriksen has achieved this five times – essentially, every time he’s produced attacking returns in this window.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Giroud and Stanislas possible risers tonight...

    A) play Payet (CRY) and Phillips (tot)
    B) Payet + Anichebe > Stanislas + Giroud (-4) and bench Phillips

    Thanks!

Feels weird getting Giroud with Walcott still in my team...I can't see them both starting and I think Siggy is better to get rid of now than Walcott.

Why don't you think both will start?

Wenger's plan has always been to have one creative and one attacking winger, Sanchez is a bit of both, but he counts as an attacking one in the system where Giroud plays as the striker, meaning he's much less likely to play Walcott and him on the wings as they're both attacking wingers.

        1. Sess!

Fair enough. Still think there's a chance he plays those 4.

Surely, I hope he does as they're all in form, but it's risky because of his usual tactics 🙂

With Ozil, Coq, Elneny and Cazorla still out that could change though, the system has to adapt to playing the best possible players. If the listed midfielders were fit, Ramsey or Iwobi would've most likely taken one wing as the creative winger.

I'm thinking of the exact same transfers, but I'm very fearful of letting Beneteke go.

If he is fit to play next match then he can do damage providing his fixtures as the DOCTOR said above.

Does anyone know if Benteke is playing next game?

Tough to say this early in the week. I saw somewhere that it's nowhere near as bad as first thought and that he will probably play. But it's all speculation until the presser.

Nay! Why would you do this?
Fixtures aside, Benteke and Siggy both absolutely nailed on and both on penalties.
Giroud starting is a coin toss and not necessarily an upgrade on Benteke in my view. If you want to upgrade on Benteke, I think you need to be in the Ibra/Costa/Kane bracket (I really dislike Lukaku as an FPL asset so I'm not including him)

Eriksen has been on fire the past while, running the Spurs show so I would favour him. Alli has scored more surgically, with less impressive general play. Happy to have both.

I got confused because you listed players and then listed them again in options so wasn't sure who you did and didn't have. If I was on WC think I'd have something like (I'll take rose out cos of yellows):

            Heaton Grant
            Walker Alonso Brunt Friend Muniesa

I feel you're not keen on Alonso tho and want Baines so just swap those two around. You can obviously have chambers over friend if that's your presence too. Muniesa is just bench fodder that might get a game now he's fit again.

West Ham have some nerve trying to hijack the Batshuayi deal they have lost the plot of late

It is plain to see that the Batshuayi to Llorente swap is a favor to former Chelsea coach Paul Clement to help him out in his new job

I never really had anything against West Ham expect for Andy Carroll but all this business of trying to undermine their relegation rivals is sick if they keep going like this i will be glad to see them gone from the PL

This post couldn't be further from the truth, we tried to sign bats last window and lost out to Chelsea so its not exactly a new thing that we wanted to sign him, if hes available again then whats wrong with going back in for him?

We have been crying out for a decent striker for ages, Defoe started his career with us and is a proven goal scorer, he just happens to play for Sunderland and be there best player. Nothing to do with undermining rivals, we need a goalscorer.

Huge wraps and playing for Man City. If anything 9m is undervalued

I think anything he does this season is a bonus. Surely it's about breaking him in for next season.

    Cech / jakupovic

Valencia Alonso Mee / Love Nyom

    Sanchez Hazard Coutinho Chadli Allen

    Ibra Costa / Anichebe

Next planned move is Allen out Stanislas in

      Mee > chambers or friend

      Too soon for couty?

      Chadli not for me thanks.

Burnley fixtures appeal more to me than Boros.

Had to get coutinho a few days ago because of siggys price fall.

Don't wanna double up on West brom defenders.

Chadli bit of a risk hopefully pays off.

        Appreciate your ideas.

Phillips instead of Chadli he's on set pieces and likes to shoot too.

Keep Allen he's playing well, anchiebee always injured believe me in a West Brom season ticket holder one good game than out the next. I would take a punt on crouch instead. Nyom excellent choice looking a real talent

With Grant playing so well, is Heaton a waste of cash with Jak potentially back as a bench warmer? Yes I'd start Heaton over Grant most weeks but stats show it's close.

For me, keepers are dull and boring. I want a semi decent one that will start and I can forget about. Don't like having two to chose from as I'll often pick wrong one and hate myself. Nothing worse than points on bench. Spend the keeper savings on possible double figure earners

This is all very well, but the decision to run the comparison back to GW 13 is what gives Eriksen the numbers advantage. Over the last 6 gameweeks during the festive period, Alli's points have far outstripped Eriksen's, and if both players continue in their present form, the margin will continue to widen. Of course Alli isn't going to score a brace every gameweek, but of the two, he is right now the Spurs midfielder to have - and I have him. Which isn't to say I might not buy Eriksen too. 🙂

RMT, think I'm happy with it but any help would do. Currently middle of a league with a lot of money at stake haha!

    Cech Heaton
Daniels Van dijk Rose Jones Brunt
    Alli Eriksen Antonio Phillips Stanislas
    Ibra Giroud Defoe
