Following up from November’s Stock Check article, we touch base again with the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game with a look at the key players so far as well as the latest picture of transfers made.
Man of the Match Awards
First up, let’s take a look at the Man of the Match (MoTM) darlings so far, listing any player to have earned the award at least three times.
Points of note
- Five of the top six teams in the league feature in the four awards and above category, which is perhaps, to be expected. Less predictable perhaps was that the three promoted teams also feature in the four and above group. The big fish, whether in big or small ponds dominate.
- Creative midfielders and big name forwards are heavily featured the list.
- Despite Philippe Coutinho missing the last seven games he remains top of the pile, with the Brazilian due to return to action shortly, it seems a sensible move to find a way to fit him into our eleven.
- Sergio Aguero has started just 12 games this season mainly due to suspension but has managed to pick up four awards. Granted one of these was from the bench but the Argentinean still seems to offer a strong captain option given his MoM award every three game average.
Bonus Magnets
There have been a few tweaks in the bonus department this season by Sky, making it slightly easier to obtain these extra points. Pinpointing bonus magnets this season is therefore crucial. Lets now take a look at the players to have been awarded bonus in any shape or form ten or more times so far.
Points of note
- Every player listed is a central midfielder, aside from Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta.
- Jordan Henderson is in a league of his own; his total bonus points are equivalent to 12 midfielder goals.
- Everton’s Idrissa Gueye, Oriol Romeu of Southampton and Bournemouth’s Harry Arter offer a high chance of bonus at a relatively low cost.
- Ander Herrera and Granit Xhaka have high bonus per start stats, suggesting they could challenge the upper reaches of this table if they can nail a permanent starting role.
Transfers
Lets now take a look at the average amount of transfers Fantasy managers have left in the higher reaches of the overall leaderboard.
With 20 games having been played in the league we are just over the half way point in the season and therefore a transfer count of 19/20 would put you on course for one a week from here on in.
Of course injuries, dud picks and even a busy festive period mean many of us will be short of this number but I would suggest if you are somewhere in-between the average for your rank and that benchmark then you stand a chance of climbing the leaderboards before the end of the season. That is assuming your buying the right players of course.

Harry Arter ...another gem that passed me by. Definitely looking at him as a long overdue replacement for Capoue.
