Back for 2017, partially refreshed and braced for the season run-in, the ScoutCast returns to herald a new leader in the Fantasy Football Scout Hall of Fame.

With the legend that is Ville Ronka toppled, Granville, Jonty, Andy and myself start by doffing our cloth caps to the brand new name at the top – Jay Egersdorff.

An advocate of the 3-5-2, Jay provides the springboard for the episode’s big discussion, as we revisit the merits of a formation change to a “power five” midfield, while considering a big spend on a four-man defence.

Your community questions supply the rest of the ammunition, as we chew over rising stars Alli, Giroud and the fading stock of Hazard and Aguero and, against better judgment, we even touch on Nyomgate until Jonty swoops to pull the plug.

      Yoshida and nailed really shouldn't be used in same sentence.
      Reliable performances and lack of transfers in window and I dare say he becomes a realistic bargain.
      At the moment it just seems a gamble or at very least a waste of a transfer in February.

      I think team looks very good with few differentials. I'd stick the armband on Aguero though. Gueye is gone, toffees will struggle to defend.

    Let's examine the ridiculous oft cited "Giroud not nailed when Ozil and Walcott back"
    Since Giroud has started as striker the AMC(Ozil default position) and AMR(Walcott default position) have been filled as such:

    GW18
    AMC Ozil
    AMR Iwobi/Perez

    GW19
    AMC Iwobi/Ramsey
    AMR Perez/Ox

    GW20
    AMC Ramsey
    AMR Iwobi/Perez

    Cup
    AMC Iwobi
    AMR Perez

    If Giroud needs rest or for tactical reasons he won't start but the the ones who will compete with Ozil and Walcott for those 2 spots are Iwobi Perez Ox and Ramsey though later more likely to play in double pivot

      Analysis misses a big point that Sanchez had to move to AML because of the injured mids. With mids fit - Wenger can eventually return to Iwobi Ozil Walcott in behind Sanchez which he has preferred for 80% of season. It won't be against Swansea but it will certainly be a high probability he returns to that fluid quartet in time. Giroud may have 1-2 games left of explosive scores but starts mid term and long term should still be a big worry.

        Probably rise tonight then if he scores a couple over the weekend then rises a further 2x. I hope he does he'll just prove to some people that at the moment he's a better (C) option than Sanchez

            I hate having underperforming players who are on -100% to drop and will cause missing team value. It doesnt mean following every bandwagon, but balancing this strategy with good planning. In my friends ML of 7 teams I used to be 6th, i stopped playing conservatively, started taking risks, now i m 3rd and very close to overtaking 2nd place, while i also manage one of my friends' team which he had abandonned and it had become a ghost team of forgotten players, it was about 100 points behind the 6th, in 5 gameweeks time i have overtaken 6th and i m on my way to go higher.
            more importantly, my friends (the other 5 teams) dont follow the price rises and falls, so their budget is about 98mil average which limits their current and future options to transfer better players, while my budget is about 105mil which i think will make the difference in the long term.
