It’s quite ironic that, in an episode that focuses on our experience and strategies of mini-league management, my long-term rival on that score goes awol.

Granville is waylaid by “homework” and misses out, but Luke crashes in mid-cast to join Jonty, Andy and myself as we deliver an 80-minute episode, which includes our dubious insights on navigating a team to mini-league glory – mind games and all.

Once again guided by your community questions, we take on the Diego Costa fall-out, the rising stock of Spurs on form and Everton on fixtures, while finding time to wade in on the demise of former darling Sergio Aguero under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

On WC....Valdes and Friend to Heaton and Yoshida (seems nailed and has good fixtures)?

I'd say no. Long-term Valdes might just outscore Heaton. As a Heaton owner, I might just swap to Valdes in 4 weeks...

In gw21 Valdes matched Heaton & scored 10 points. I'd keep him.

    Grant
    Baines - Rose - Kosc
    Sanchez (C) - Eriksen - Pogba - Phillips
    Ibra - Kane - Origi

    Pickford - Can - Ake - Amat

Holding onto Ake and Amat now put me in a bit of a bind with Baines looking shaky.

I've got 1 FT and just 0.2 ITB. I had planned on Origi to Rondon, but with the Baines news should I:

    A) Origi to Rondon (and hope Baines plays)
    B) Amat to Yoshida
    C) Ake to Friend
    D) Save

    Cheers!

Not sure if this has been discussed yet folks, but just saw a piece on this. Has van Basten lost his mind? Here are some of the rule changes he's proposing.

    - no offside rule
    - sin bin and orange card
    - no extra time
    - time limit for penalty shootouts
    - 90 mins split into 4 quarters

No offside - Could work but it would need to be trialled
Sin bin - I like the idea, better than the player being sent off ruining the match
No extra time - I like this as well, its a 90 minute game
Time limit on pens - Yep, its too long
4 quarters - Nah, I thought the point was to speed the game up not drag it out.

The 4 quarters part is kind of a red flag for me. They have that sort of thing in American sports where the whole purpose is so they can cram more advertisements into the breaks. Not sure how no offside would work in practice, wouldn't everyone just camp out beside the goalposts? I agree on the sin bin part, could be a good idea

Some would say no offsides means hoofball to Fellaini camping in the box but I'll have to see it to believe it. Would like to see some of these idea's trialled in an U21's league or something.

I did like the stop the clock every time the ball goes out of play/play is stopped rule. Stoppage time is never quite as long as the time wasting. But yeah no offsides is insane.

      - No offsides is complete crap.
      - Didn't read much about sin bins or orange cards, but no changes needed there.
      - Potentially agree with no extra time, depending on fixture congestion? But then what, surely penalties are too erratic.
      - Time limit? Do they all have to sprint from the half way line and kick then run back and tag the next player?
      - I've seen a break in each half for some hotter climates, but in most cases this isn't needed or wanted.

      1. Postman Ty

after a little more reading the sin bin/card thing could work.

Laughable how silly this would be. especially the first one. Would effectively erase this sports history as far as goalscoring records go, because how could you compare.

Personally I'm all for seeing more goals in football. Way back in the day a 7 - 3 scoreline was not uncommon and teams playing with 5 up front with only 2 defenders.

    Lots of game before GW23

    GW22 - 10 games

EFL Cup - Pool vs S'ton, Hull vs Man Utd

FA Cup - 13 PL teams play.

Want to use 2 FTs before midweek but it seems paying a little extra if needed may be better.

You are probably right. Main targets don't have a game and some main players will get a break. The ones who play like Ibra could be an issue.

Morning. I think the answer is B???
    I need Spurs, have zero!

    A. Kun to Kane (this week or next?)
    B. Next week Kun to Kane and Lallana to Erik
    C. Next week Hazard to Pedro and Lallana to Erik
    D. Anything else

    Foster/ Jakop
    Alonso/ Pieters/ Amat/ Chambers/ Jones
    Lallana/ Hazard/ Stanislas/ Fletcher/ Sanchez
    Ibra/ Aguero/ Carroll
    0.0 ITB 1FT

    Thanks for any input

Long term for me is A - Kane defo above Giroud and Defoe. I like Pedro, very underrated - Conte nearly always plays him ahead of Willian as he's better defensively. Antonio good shout too - had him for a while this season and he did well. Personally I'm still not convinced on Hazard as he's too hot and cold.

A but would be tempted by B if you could find the funds for it to be Lukaku and Coutinho.

Given myself a terrible benching dilemma this week (a self inflicted problem!). Such is the danger of having Phillips and Stanislas as 4th and 5th mids.

It feels so wrong benching Eriksen and Brunt, but most of my players have great fixtures on paper - would anyone play either of them ahead of Defoe?

I realise Baines has a slight injury issue which might bring Brunt in. With Nyom looking out, Brunt will be LB anyway, so not OOP on the wing. Seems a waste to play AOA with defenders having good fixtures.

    Foster (SUN)
Alonso (HUL) | Koscielny (BUR) | Baines (cpl)
Sanchez (BUR) | Lallana (SWA) | Phillips (SUN) | Stanislas (WAT)
Ibra (sto) | Giroud (BUR) | Defoe (wba)

Bench: Pickford | Eriksen (mci) | Brunt (SUN) | Amat
    (1FT, 2.0m in bank)

    Thanks all!

Are there players that you just dont ever consider?
Now on here there are so many better players than me but I just dont get the Coutinio love?
Lallana same points per game and for me I just want Mane for LIV when hes back.

No real question just bored at work. Maybe i need to consider him? Barkley is another i just never never get

What should I do with him?

    A) just play him
    B) bench and let de Roon does the job

    C1) Giroud (if fit)
    C2) Rondon

Coleman. Koeman said Baines normally would be available this week. I don't know how that's not a clear indication he won't start

It was a transition from talking about long term injuries Bolasie etc [oh and by the way] Baines has a slight rib problem and would normally be available this week [not serious or long term but won't be available this week like he normally would]

Gotcha. Every tweet I've seen includes that quote, but it could have been paraphrased.

The article here is nothing more than club media person interpreting. They are often next to useless for knowing what's what and neither they, the club, or the manager give two hoots about the impact on FPL managers

Man, that quote is about as clear as mud. It could simply be his awkward phrasing with English being a second language, or there could be a real concern.

Can't blv that Man City is a difficult fixture for Spurs .
The only thing that can hold them back is This is only Tottenham boys !!! thinking that is attached to them
    and they crumble under pressure

Everything points for a Spurs win and yet it will be No surprise if Spurs manage to Lose . They have already teared apart City early in the season without conceding too.

Big game this for Spurs !!! there is every chance they will come out with flying colours In the fixture as is the opposite.

    What is your predictions ?
    Everything suggest a spurs win

No. 0.6m cheaper and as consistent. Just as capable of big hauls and had blanked 8/16 games playing decent minutes. Coutinho has blanked 5/11
