Dugout Discussion – Arsenal vs Burnley

The day’s events continue at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal and Burnley provide the backdrop to Alexis Sanchez’ latest attempt to build on his stock as a Fantasy Premier League “essential”.

The Chilean starts this match backed by 18.2% of FPL managers, with 52 of the top 100 also endorsing the Gunners man for another return.

It’s easy to justify such a show of faith: Sanchez has returned a goal or an assist in eight of his last nine Gameweeks, with eight goals, four assists and nine bonus points collected over that period.

In addition, he faces a Burnley side that has the worst away record in the Premier League, winning only one of 26 so far on their travels.

Sanchez also boasts an enviable record against the Clarets. He has scored three and assisted twice in his two previous outings in all competitions against Sean Dyche’s men at the Emirates.

Olivier Giroud adds to the Gunners threat. The Frenchman has scored in each of his last four Gameweeks and leads Arsene Wenger’s attack once again, having shaken off a toe injury.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Am I the only one not that unimpressed with the game? There's been plenty of shots on both sides, which could've been a little better, but lo0ts of chances are still being created.

        I used to say we look better with him and I think we actually did, but the false 9 has really been working well this season, Walcott should push him out.

      exactly.. intriguing game..

      Think the Arsenal will nick one soon enough and then the floodgates will open... 2/3 nil and all complaints will be forgotten.

        Indeed, Özil's shot could've gone in had Giroud intervened, Burnely had a good early chance when Barnes, I think, almost deflected it in and Sanchez' wide shot was a really good chance.

    On the wing Sanchez is no better in terms of point potential than the likes of Eriksen, Alli, Coutinho (when 100%), Firmino, etc except that he's a lot more expensive. You shouldn't be captaining him either, so you can't use that argument.

    If Giroud gets dropped again, complete game changer or course.

        I'm sorry but this is just unfair. Giroud has literally scored every time he's started and Wenger still gets stick for this? Completely understandable and logical for Wenger to pick him, albeit frustrating from an FPL perspective as a Sanchez owner and captainer.
