Maybe just the siggy move this week, as Lukaku away to MID isn't the best fixture. If you are going to be priced out thought, then I would consider the hit this week.

Hey, just want to apologise to anyone who may have kept or even captained Aguero, as a result of advice I gave on here last week. I was pretty adamant he was going to start and as such be a reasonable captain pick. I did it myself, so wasn't trying to mislead anyone.

First real rough of the season and it bloody hurts! (Not as much now as it did on Sunday, mind)

I spent a good hour listening to and reading Pep's press conference. The clues were there.

Yep, I was clearly blinkered. I got Jesus in but captained Aguero. Madness in hindsight, but then wrong moves always are.

I probably shouldn't admit that I'm keeping Aguero for Bournemouth. Armband will be on Jesus but I'd rage quit if I sold for Lukaku now and Aguero starts the Bournemouth game.

I think going into the gameweek, I would say more people would have expected Aguero to start. Can try read between the lines of pep but I don't think it was ever clear cut. Armband was probably a heart of head move but thems the breaks. Probably one player that even if he doesn't start, you would be confident of something if he came on.

Going forward, I would be inclined to keep and an easy swap to Costa in 26.

I'm surprised he doesn't play. Best finisher in the league, got to play to his strengths

Jac The Cat put his mortgage on Aguero starting. It could have gone either way really. I thought he was more likely to start than not, but it could have gone either way.

To come on for just 8 mins is ridiculous. Would Aguero not have played at all if Swansea hadn't scored??

And how sheepish was Pep calling on Aguero to rescue City when it went 1-1?

Problem (re. Aguero & fpl) is Pep basically been proven correct of late. Not a fan but read through manc forum and there's little/no call for change to current setup, and not a lot of love for Aguero. Fickle perhaps but winning.

I've been checking the Blue Moon fan forum and I've been seeing the opposite, to be fair. Team suggestions for the Bournemouth(A) thread have Aguero starting. No-one seems to be confident with what Pep will do though.

You're just sharing an opinion, everyone is responsible for their own choices on here. He could have easily started and scored a hatty! at least that is what I was hoping for when I captained him too !

Yep, it could've gone either way. I was thinking of the clamour and media questions that would result if Aguero didn't start, and thought the sensible way for Pep to handle it would be to start him. Everyone knew Aguero had a knock before West Ham and he could bring him back in and no-one would ask any questions.

Pep's created a real issue if he's freezing Aguero out. If Jesus, Sane or Sterling get injured, then he's going to rely on Aguero - it's strange man management, imo. Bullish to say the least.

I kind of wanted to apologies as I know I replied to a few people who had fears of him not starting, and well, I pride myself on giving honest pretty decent advice.

          Likewise.

The one thing that sticks in my head about Pep/Sergio is what I wrote once before. Pep is new to City and he joined to win trophies. In the first half of the season Sergio let him down badly by being banned twice and missing seven games.

I have no idea what Pep thinks of Aguero in private but if I was him I wouldn't be very fond of Sergio....even though he makes all the right noises in public (as you'd expect).....or at least he has good reason to be less fond of him than we are.

Interesting. I wouldn't mind hearing what a body language expert thinks when Pep is asked about Aguero in press conferences.

Pep obviously wants to do it his way, and who blames him. Looking at the fixtures doesn't ease my fears over Aguero missing the Bournemouth game too; Man City have Bournemouth in the league, then Huddersfield in the FA Cup before the return of the CL midweek. I can see the same front 3 trotting out v Bournemouth, rotation for the FA Cup (Aguero in), and back to their strongest team in the CL.

That's the other part we don't know....where his priorities are. He's even put out surprisingly strong teams for the FA cup if memory serves me right.

What hurts was that it was such a simple toss-up for Giroud's replacement. Lukaku with great fixtures and a game in GW26 and GW28 yet I had to overly complicate it by wanting double City attack for Swansea and Bournemouth. Perhaps if City hadn't dismantled West Ham then my head wouldn't have been turned.

Even if I brought Lukaku in for Giroud, I think I will still have captained Aguero, so c'est la vie.

              1. MTPockets
                  7 years, 8 months ago

As a Giroud replacement that's tough. I'd had him for a while, as watched spurs game and city looked a different team. Fixtures were appealing & assumed Aguero was limited by injury rather than actual selection, as results have justified outlook on fixtures/performance.

Annoying but in retrospect shouldn't have kept hoping. I wouldn't honestly have captained Lukaku either if I'd had him.

Just read that back and it's a little unclear. I've had Aguero for a 4 or 5 weeks, and brought in Jesus for Giroud, but gave Aguero the armband.

*Will add that although gone for Lukaku, I now (still) wish I'd held for this game. Maybe just for the 'differential' or perhaps it's addiction withdrawal...

No need to apologize. I felt the same and did the same. Its a major disappointed but that's hindsight for u. All the noises were there and I was happy to gamble on a player as explosive as Aguero can be.

This reminds me of Eto when pep took over. Gradually freezing him out of the team but still playing just not with full trust. Seemed crazy then and seems crazy now. But I suppose he sees day to day what we can't.

Just got Brunt in myself, two plum home games and then at least a game in GW28(not expecting much vs Everton). Should return to his midfield role soon enough too, providing Jonny Evans is fit.

                Hello all,

Current team for this GW, I would appreciate any advice on my choices for starters vs bench. Primarily my initial thought to play Pieters over Funes Mori as I am a tad concerned about doubling up on Everton defence away from home (even if they are playing MID)

                Heaton
                Alonso, Baines, Pieters
                Sanchez (C) KDB, Sigurdsson, King
                Ibra, Lukaku, Jesus

                Jaku, Phillips, Funes Mori, Brunt

                Thanks in advance.

I personally would have your team set up eaxactly how it is but it's a total lottery! Pieters is a baps magnet at the moment and palace are awful, I'd spread the risk and play him over mori too.

Thanks, agree it is a lottery. I hate having so much invested in a bench, but only doing it to carry me through the blanks. Come GW29 it will be back to 2 x bench fodder and 1 viable playing bench player to make choices easier !!!

Not really sure what to do within the next few weeks. Are people getting rid of Sanchez for hazard?
                What would you do?

                Alonso Baines Brunt Chambers Amat

I am considering Sanchez to Haz next week. However, I have 8 players that are confirmed for GW28 already and would only bring in a max of 1 more if any. You currently only have 6 players for GW28 (I didn't count Amat) so you may want to consider a transfer for someone playing GW28. Best to wait till after the FA cup results to make any decisions.

Very true but I would have 2fts after that GW26 for improvements for Gw28 so would end up with 8 which is alright I think!

8 is probably fine I agree. I will sell Sanchez for 11.5 (provided he only drops by max 0.1m this week) and hope that his purchase price drops to that or below by GW29, so I can buy him back at no extra cost, or even cheaper than I had sold him.

Sanchez has 2 blanks and Liverpool away in between so there is a case for getting rid of him. I have him and Haz and need to loose one if I want to get Lukaku in so will prob loose Sanchez with the intention of buying him back gw29

Depends what you paid for him.

If like me you got him late and stand to lose value hand over fist for the next 3 games then a swap to a player whom will hold even if at a hit sounds logical to me.

A few here are in a different boat having got him cheaper and there decision is a little more difficult.

Get rid after hull if you have no value holding as he will lose 0.6 at least in the 3 weeks after.

                  Just my opinion only

Hull are a funny one. Kept out both Liverpool and Man Utd in last 2 games so argument that they could frustrate Arsenal too, especially because it's Arsenal and no one is better than 'pulling an Arsenal' than Arsenal themselves!

no point doing B as he won't rise and you won't play him this week so makes more sense to have 2FT as we will know 100% blanks after FA Cup

A is certainly tempting, Siggy is captain material this week

I did A, as Spurs don't look right since Rose went out and their next three fixtures are OK, not great. Siggy has form and good fixtures for 4 of the next 5 game weeks, and definitely plays GW 28. Most would probably tell you to hold though. Alli could go off and pile on the goals again.

as you say Spurs fixtures not amazing and Liverpool have been very very very poor lately, but they still have the best record against the top6 and have a very good record against Spurs.

Ye I agree with their lack of attacking threat since Rose has been injured. Really tempted to go for it. Have missed two Siggy price rises already and my mids have been very low scoring for the past few weeks now. Feel like I need to shake things up.

Unfortunately, I am off the lead in several of my leagues and need to get some differentials relative to the league leaders.

                  Current team:

                  Jakupovic - Grant
                  Alonso - Walker - McAuley - Holgate - Ake
                  Sanchez - Alli - Pogba - Phillips - Davies
                  Kane - Ibra - Rondon

Thinking of doing Kane, Pogba and Rondon to Lukaku, Siggy and Jesus for -8. This would likely mean I'll have 10 players for GW26 (transfer out Ake for a Hull defender after this GW), but I suspect I'd get more out of this transfer over the rest of the season. Any thoughts welcome!

Good point. I'm worried that Ibra might do well against Watford though - I could transfer him out for Kane next week, although that seems like a sideways transfer. Kane's form is better so I'll probably keep him, thanks!

Do funds require you to do Kane to Lukaku to fund the other moves? If not, I'd just do Pogba and Rondon to Siggy and Jesus.

Doing Kane -> Lukaku tonight and save 0.2 due to fall and rise or doing Ibra -> Lukaku next GW?

Or doing Robinson -> Jaku this GW?

                  Team (2FT, 0.1 itb):
                  Heaton (Robinson)
                  Coleman/Baines/Brunt (Rose*, Chambers)

What on earth to do with my 2 FTs this week?

                      Heaton / Robinson
                      Alonso / Walker / Coleman / McAuley / Amat
                      Sanchez / Alli / Eriksen / Sig / Phillips
                      Ibra / Giroud / Barnes

Need to use at least 1 transfer obviously, Irba > Lukaku seems obvious given blanks but probably not this week. Thinking something like Eriksen > Snodgrass, maybe even just Robinson > Jakupovic to give me a GK for GW 28??

Hmm, definitely feel like it's a move that I wouldn't otherwise make were it not for the (potential) blank gameweek, as would give me the horrible dilemma of who to play each week. Ibra to Lukaku is a move I would be making anyway.

You're right on that, think I've decided against that move this week. Feel like Heaton > Jaku could just be done immediately before GW 28, the fixtures are pretty similar prior to then?

Wish I had the extra £0.1m for Amat > Maguire, that would solve cover Hull and solve the defence issue as I still only have 2 defs for GW 28..

Just do J Rod to Siggy. You already have Foster and Nyom, so there is no need to triple-up with Brunt.

Though I guess you'd be getting rid of Foster in the Brunt scenario. Still, seems entirely unnecessary.

Gotcha. Still not worth it, in my book. Just do Snod instead of Siggy for no hit. Snod (WBA, wat) could easily match or outscore Siggy (LEI, che) over the next two.

I get that Siggy is involved in everything they do, and Leciester look a shambles, but people seem to be forgetting that even in these last four matches Swansea are worst in the league for overall attempts, and attempts inside the box. They simply don't generate a lot of chances.
