Gareth Bale saves the gameweek, as Tottenham’s 2-0 win draws things to a close. Time for us to round things up, rummaging through the Opta data to pick out the statistics that matter, taking a punt at the Fantasy Premier League bonus points along the way…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just looking, for a 4 pt hit at some stage, I could get a DGW front 8 of

    Mata, Nani, VDV, Drenthe, Bale

    Ade, RVP, Sturridge

How on earth would I choose one of them to bench? I think I'd go for Mata or Sturridge, but Id be watching Wolves Chelsea with my hands over my eyes.

Yeah, he'd be the other obvious candidate. It's a tempting proposition that frontline, but it'd be massive selection headaches all the way. Almost worth not doing it just to avoid those decisions! Would make it easier to play Krul and Raylor though with Nani on my bench... Hmm.

Thanks for the insight. I dont want to move Nani on. Im planning on getting rid of Silva already as I only got him at 10.4 (late to the party or what?) I'll save a transfer this week and mull methinks.

    Team is:

    Howard, Vorm
    Enrique, Simpson, McAuley, Evans, Wilkinson
    Nani, Mata, Silva, Sess, Pilks
    RVP, Ade, Ba

Welbeck to Ade is definitely being done

Which of these transfers would you do.

    a) Evans, Pilks to Shotton, Gomez (-8)
    b) Evans, Pilks to Senderos, Moses (-8)
    c) Pilks to Moses (-4)
    d) Pilks to Swansea mid (-4)
    e) Don’t do another transfer as it isn’t worth it and potentially only have 9/10 players.

I'm not sure why Pilks has been frozen out at Norwich, he could get back in. Wouldnt have him as my priority transfer out. Id make Wilkinson my first move, get rid for Shotton. Definitely sideways, but Shotton is at least getting games at the moment.

That's the obvious one, could always offload him in the January WC if he doesn't keep his place. Still want to get in Sorensen though, don't see many clean sheets for Swansea in the coming weeks.

Would it be mad to do both? Have 2 FT's, but want to save it up for the DGW and not a fan of doubling up on a unreliable team defensively

Through to the last 16 of FFScout cup 😀

Got a problem this week though, Caulker and Milijas out, although Milijas is only bench fodder, I still need cover, also got Jonny Evans, probably out, leaving my defence...

    Vorm
    Simpson Jagielka Enrique

One free transfer, should I ride it out until next week? That way I can bring in a spurs defender and Drenthe at no hit... So I dont see the point in taking a hit, especially with the wildcard coming up....

Impressive stuff hammer, looks like your blogging is helping your managing!

TOT have an awesome attack, WBA have goals in them and I don't see LIV-NEW finishing 0-0 so I think you will struggle for CS. I reckon the likeliest scenario is 6pts for Enrique and 2 for the others giving you 12pts from your defence. Would definitely look at swapping 1 defender for the cup as looking at this GW's fixtures it could be another low-scoring GW, whereas the one after could be high-scoring if you have DGW coverage. Hence the points advantage matters more this GW for knockout.

Thanks 🙂 Ranked 220th in the world too ;P

I think i'll check out my opponent first, he could be in a worse scenario, thing is, I only have 4.6m to spend, and there is no bankers for a CS at that price... So hardly seems worth the transfer, and surely Liverpool are going to have to play defensively? Newcastle are scoring well at the moment, and Liverpool are scoring poorly... Could happen...

4.6m isn't much but luckily there is an answer - Shotton, nailed on, Stoke at home to Wigan - playing away at Stoke is one of the worst fixtures of the season and has done many of the top teams in, they have ShawX back and their home CS record is good.

Senderos is another good shout for a clean sheet in my opinion.

Please pick 2 out of the following to start GW19...

BAE (swa), Jagielka (wba), Simpson (liv) and Larsson (MCI)

BAE and Larsson (City will have to rest a fair amount of players I reckon as they host Liverpools 2 days later)

Do we think Silva and Aguero will be rested for the Sunderland game as they are hosting Liverpool 2 days later?

Quite possibly, good shout. Silva and Aguero played something like the full 90 against WBA didn't they?

Silva completed the 90 while Aguero was subbed after 75

Sunderland is no walk in the park now with MON in charge, but still...

Well it's mixed actually. With the surprise 2pts dropped against WBA, I think Mancini will be forced to go all out for the 3pts against Sunderland and play a full strength attacking team.

Looking at tiredness levels, Balo, Silva, Yaya played full 90, Milner 82, Aguero 75, Nasri 59. Barry played 31, Johnson played 15, Dzeko 8. They have 6 days to recover before playing away at SUN and 2 days to recover before hosting Liverpool.

          Right dilemma.

Based on performances and Mancini's past behaviour I think Nasri, Dzeko, Aguero and Silva will start this GW, with the intention to sub the most tired ones off early if they get a comfortable lead. That could of course bite them in the ass the way it did v. Fulham.

Yeah in the light of two closely-spaced matches against a club with the best defence and one with an improving one, I have just doubted David Silva for the first time this season.

I may just have considered Silva > Mata...

Want 3 spurs players for the double gameweek. Already have Bale and Adebayor. The 3rd ones gonna be either VDV or Walker. I'd be selling Nani or Kompany for them respectively. Bearing in mind the fixtures for the 2 people im selling, who would you say it's better to invest in for the double.

Currently thinking Kompany to Walker as Nani has a good match v Newcastle, and City will probably concede against Liverpool. However getting VDV in could result in high returns, and he's a proper differential now.

    Thoughts appreciated

As you are talking about the ever so "doubtful" VDV, I would wait for as long as possible before eventually bringing him in. The good thing is that there is a week between the two matches, so he will most probably start both if fit.

At least that's what I'm doing myself

I don't think nani will do much vs Newcastle but the following week manis got a cracking fixture. I'd go for komoany to walker as 3 spurs cleanies in a row after this ge looks likely

Yeah. I'm thinking that over the next two gameweeks of getting rid of Wilkinson (this one) for Shotton, and then Ben Arfa (next one) for Drenthe. That would leave me with a DGW foursome of Drenthe, BAE, Bale, Adebayor.
