Romelu Lukaku recovers from a calf problem in time for Everton’s Goodison Park clash with Sunderland. Andy Carroll remains a major doubt as West Ham travel to Watford, while Middlesbrough have a string of injury concerns in defence ahead of a trip to Crystal Palace.

Romelu Lukaku is available for Everton’s home match with Sunderland after recovering from a calf complaint. Ronald Koeman has also confirmed that Kevin Mirallas and James McCarthy are back in contention, with all three returning to training earlier in the week.

David Moyes has revealed that Jordan Pickford is back in training for Sunderland’s Goodison trip, though went on to say “we’ll have to see if he’s ready”. Steven Pienaar is doubtful due to a calf problem, while Jan Kirchhoff remains sidelined, despite stepping up his recovery with a return to training earlier in the week.

Middlesbrough have concerns over a trio of defenders for their trip to Crystal Palace. Antonio Karanka has confirmed that Antonio Barragan remains on the sidelines, while both George Friend and Calum Chambers have failed to train and are set to be assessed.

Andy Carroll has yet to train ahead of West Ham’s match with Watford and is a big doubt for the Vicarage Road showdown. Aaron Cresswell, Arthur Masuaku and Andrew Ayew all back in contention.

Craig Cathcart, Sebastian Prodl and Valon Behrami are all doubtful for the Hornets. Juan Zuniga has recovered from illness, though Costel Pantilimon, Nordin Amrabat and Christian Kabasele remain sidelined.

Sean Dyche is mulling over his Burnley midfield options, with both Steven Defour and Johann Berg Gudmundsson sidelined through injury for the trip to Hull City, while Jeff Hendrick serves the last of a three-match suspension.

Simon Francis is expected to be ruled out of Bournemouth’s visit to the Hawthorns, while Eddie Howe is set to make a late decision on the fitness of Jack Wilshere.

Tony Pulis was typically vague this morning ahead of West Brom’s clash with the Cherries – the Baggies boss revealed his squad have “one or two niggles” but failed to elaborate.

Ki Sung-yeung, Nathan Dyer and Jefferson Montero are all ruled out through injury as Swansea City make their way to league leaders Chelsea.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News page accordingly to keep you informed.

Is there hope for him, or should I just get rid as part of my GW 26 cull?

There's still a glimmer of hope, they had to make 2 early subs in the last match due to injuries, he might have come on otherwise.

      Am considering shifting for Lanzini.

while vardy didnt hit same heights as last season he still worked his socks off, mahrez on the other hand decided he was already world class and that playing for this team was beneath him. no matter what level you are when youre star player stops that spreads like a disease through the rest of team. Ive no doubt that privately Ranieri will feel let down by him the most. if he had performed to even half of what he did last season then hes still in the job

It's such fine margins. A shot that went in last season, narrowly misses this season and Leicester were so good when going a goal up. Just as winning becomes a habit, so does losing; it's a downward spiral instead.

Remember that before the PL winning season, the same group of players (on the whole) only just survived relegation.

Personally, I think losing Kante may be as much as 50% of the reason. Deserves player of the season this year with Chelsea.

I think both of them have their share of the blame.

Can't really have a dig at their defenders, they're bad players who over performed last season, regression was inevitable. The likes of Vardy (even if a one trick pony) and Mahrez (someone who looks to have real talent about him) didn't show up. I would gladly see them relegated.

Kante was huge for them, but I really don't think the owners nor the players themselves appreciate just how big a miracle last season was.

Reid of course. Always play the defender instead of the star man of the team, who is on set pieces and involved in (is it?) 50% of the sides goals

Well they have to score for him to be involved and I think Reid may have more chance of a cs v Watford than Swans scoring away to Chelsea. It's really not as clear cut as you suggest

    My Current team is:

    Grant - Pickford
    Coleman - Alonso - Walker - Holebas - Amat
    Siggy - Eriksen - Sanchez - Phillips - Allen
    Ibra - Kane - Benteke
    1.4ITB - 2FT

    My plans are:
    GW 26 = Sanchez & Benteke > Mane & Lukaku
    GW27 = Eriksen & Kane > Sterling & Aguero for -4
    GW28 = Take a -4 to get to 7 players

Is 7 players enough for GW28?

    27. Capoue + Alli + 3.9 > Siggy + Sterling + Maguire (-4)
    28. Sterling > Snodgrass (10 players).

"West Brom boss Tony Pulis has "one or two niggles" to assess ahead of Albion's first game in two weeks against Bournemouth on Saturday. Both Nacer Chadli and James Morrison felt their hamstrings after the 2-2 draw at West Ham a fortnight ago."

Now is it safe to assume Brunt will tuck in the midfield with Nyom covering at full back?

I can't really see it unless these "niggles" rule Chadli or Morrison out.

Especially at home to Bournemouth, you'd expect Pulis to summon all of his 3% attacking tactical ability, which would mean Brunt at FB.

Good draw for United in EL opposition wise. Makes the Chelsea game a bit tougher, they’ll be in Russia on the 9th of March, travel to Chelsea on 13th and play the second leg on 16th. Big squad available so could see plenty of rotation

It's certainly a very appealing route, given there are 5 teams vying for 3 spots. Downside is gambling on a cup contest which can be pretty hard to gauge. Roma would be the ones I'd have most concern about, though they do like to bottle the occasional big game.

            Or have Moreno 😎

I'm happy Pool took the EL seriously last season as United look to be this season. Has gone ignored by PL teams compared to other countries where it's a big deal. Nowhere near the level of the CL, but I always found it funny that more teams weren't trying their best to reach the final given the CL spot up for grabs.

I'm not so sure it's gonna be easy. Not that you said that.

Still, I'd expect United, if they are progressing under Mou as they look and claim to be, should manage to progress against a team who are 7th in the Russian league. It's not a case of underestimating the opponent by any means, I just think United really should be able to get two wins. I definitely accept away in Russia is a tougher one, always find teams struggle a bit more there.

One of Schalke or Monchengladblach are going, which is handy though neither have been spectacular this season. If United progress they reasonably should be the strongest team left aside from Roma (though that Lyon match might be tricky).

Aye I also expect us to progress just seen and heard some say it was a lucky draw in terms of opposition and that I don't agree to.

    bottomed

    Foster, Jak
    Alonso, Baines, Jones, Kos, Amat
    Mane, Courtino, T.Carroll, Phillips, Alli
    Lukaku, Gray, Ibra

    1FT, 2.8m ITB

Thanks for your help guys, i'm now all but sorted.

GW26 Kos or Jones to Coleman
GW27 Alli and Phillips to Siggy and Sterling for a hit.
    GW28 Amat to Mawson

Just one decision left, who should I keep out of Kos and Jones (it's not a great choice either way)

Jones has the better fixtures, but i've seen no indication that he's returning to fitness any time soon, so Kos seems the obvious choice but he would be expensive bench fodder until GW31.

I'm 0.1 short of being able to do the GW26 and GW27 moves with Amat.

This is one of those posts I gloss over as it has a RMT format but with loads of options rather than a simple question. But, I have some time so will read through.

Right, the problem is definitely the defence. In my opinion, Amat, Jones and Koscielny all have to go. I'd use your FT's between now and GW28 to consider the following alternatives (don't be worried about fielding 4 at the back in GW28... many will be).

        Coleman
        Brunt
        McAuley
        Maguire
        Robertson
        Mawson
        Reid
        Cresswell

I've already decided on Coleman and Mawson, it's which out of Jones or Kos to keep as well, I'm unlikely to play Kos until GW31.

Keep Jones or Kos (fitness against fixtures, unlikely to play Kos until GW31)

Sell Koscielny - too much money tied up in him. You might get lucky and Jones plays v Bournemouth in GW27.

      Sanchez to Mane play 3-5-1

Then either Kane or Ibra to Kun next GW.

The only other alternative I can see that brings in Kaku and keeps Ibra is Sanchez and Anichebe to Snoddy and Lukaku, but you would probably have to take a hit to get Kun in GW27.

I prefer Sanchez to Mane play 3-5-1

Are you considering Firmino because Mané has risen in price by 0.2m this week and you feel you've missed out, or because you genuinely think Firmino is the better option?

I'm a little biased. If I was to get two Liverpool mids, it would be Mané and Coutinho.

          1. The Overthinker
            • 9 Years

Money is not the issue as I will be getting someone for sanchez.
I am genuinely considering firmino because mane can bring him the points back. And playing OOP there's always a probability of him scoring.
I feel he will give some return, more than coutinho and maybe equal to mane.

Also I am chasing in ML, got nothing to lose, why not go for this kind of transfer?

B - you can afford any midfielder if you're replacing Alexis so Mane/Firminho for example have a great chance of picking up more than the -4 it'd cost to take Sanchez out and the inevitable 0 or 1 points Stanislas will get you

      - yours, another Stan owner, desperately hoping I'm wrong and he comes back into the team ahead of GW28

Tough. Maguire's goal threat is appealing but don't think he's nailed on when Dawson and Davies are fit. I know he's been playing well but that's the club captain and possibly their best centre back. Robertson is the safer option, I just feel Maguire is bound to score a goal soon.
