As the official Fantasy Premier League version begun this week with over two million hopefuls, our very own Paddy Power Cup V was down the last 32. With no virtual coin toss nonsense to worry about here, let’s see how it panned out…

Top-score this week went to Mr Bungle, who battered Chris H 67 – 35. That was the widest margin of victory for the round by quite some distance.

In doubling his opponent’s score was, Declan came closest to that 32-point gulf, as he bossed lowest-scoring jinswick 44 – 22.

For the first time this season there wasn’t a single draw, with runty‘s 50 – 49 triumph over GreenWindmill the tightest affair.

Der-Hammer95 continued his fine form to reach the last 16 as the highest ranked fantasy manager in the tournament. His 54 – 38 drubbing of Peadarb was enough for another green arrow and 181st in the world.

The fixtures for the seventh round – taking place in Gameweek 19 – will be announced in due course, along with important Quarter-Final news.

Congratulations to this week’s winners, and commiserations to those leaving the competition at this stage.

i love my team.. infact apart from evans and cerny i love it so much that i dont wanna remove anyone for the DGW comin up.. got 0.3 in the bank and dont wanna touch my midfield or frontline as i got a lot of money invested in them and a short term fix will cause me to lose that.. i like my setup too.. got 0.3 in the bank.. thinkin if doin evans to hibbert and that's it.. sound?

    Jones Enrique EVANS Shotton Caulker

I'm with you on this, Keith. Three maximum from TOT and that's it. Too much hassle to buy the likes of Nani, etc back in again.

I got rid of Evans today for Gallas.

Not sure. I see it as a win win. Even if he misses a game, I've got a full bench and the way bench defenders have been scoring of late, that might not be a bad thang. 😉

Am I missing something here Jafa? I was under the impression that if one of your players only starts in one of the DGW matches, that's all you get for that slot, you don't get the benefit of him being substituted in the game he misses?

Green arrow(don't know how...) I sold Baines(11) for Evans(0, and inj). Haha

Considered Valencia...TM still blessed the trsfr...went with Walters at the end...now talk is he will be rested...Naylor still missing in Action....Only good thing was that Tierney disappeared as well and I ended up with Simpon(8) from my bench.

Rvp was a massive fail, especially after the Rooney rotation.

The daft thing with people who are buying into Everton and Tottenham defenders is that they play eachother, so the TOT and EVE midfielders and strikers they have will prevent them from keeping a clean sheet?
I'm going Bale, Drenthe and Ade for the DGW, i think that is enough without messing up my whole team just for one gameweek!

    morning
    tough nigh thinking:

    a) How is Naylor doing?

    b) Am I mad but ima gonna (C) sturridge. RvP rotation risk(still a chance him coming on and score tho, major concern), Ba hard fix, Nani rotation risk.

    c) Play Vorm or Hennessey?

I have the same concern over RVP, i'm going to captain him though, surely Wenger will let him have that last game to try and crack the record?!.....vs QPR aswell.
I contemplated Sturridge, as you said i think Nani is a rotation risk also, i have Rooney but he's a tad inconsistent for my liking, plus i worry he will be in midfield again.
      How about Silva for captain>?.....

      d) What about the plan getting Drenthe , Modric, Bale, Ade for the dgw. Should I take more from EVE? Can't without a hit and I don't really want to drop points there. Also is Modric that clever idea? The pros are that he will rise, and if he will score he will rise more, so I can sell with profit later + diferential. Cons are that he is never scoring.

Modric isn't a high enough points scorer in my opinion to justify getting him in for the DGW, he would probably only score as well as a good one game player.

        Simpson has Liverpool away though.
        Brown has Man.City
Tierney has chipped in with a few assists this season, and vs Fulham that's probably all i can hope for! None of the three will keep a cleanie imo.

My plan is to do Naylor or Evans > Shotton to have one more playable DF. But the recent comments about Wilko, Delap, and Pennart return to starters made me confused again.

    I now have ... Jones(?) - Evans(?) - Enrique - Simpson - Naylor(?).

Just 0.2 in bank. So, cannot swap them for BAE/Walker and also 0.1 short for Gallas. 🙁

What do you think? Should I go McAuley instead?

Jones out was what I thought this morning before his price drop.

I was able to do Jones > Huth and Naylor > BAE, but now 0.1m short.. 🙁

I can now do Jones > BAE and Naylor > Jagielka, but I'm doubt the return from Jags in DGW. 😕

when planning a points hit, you gotta at least be bringing in one impact player that has double digit haul potential. Sorensen and Gallas do not fit that bill in my opinion.

Not sure if loading up on Everton/Spurs players for the DGW is being hyped up more than it really offers.. So its a normal gw + Spurs v Everton - I can't see this extra game having a lot of potential for goals/pts. I mean i suppose the players play and extra 90 mins so at the very least it's 2 extra pts per player.. But could it just be wiser to invest in teams like QPR or Aston Villa for this given game week? Eg. Bale or Drenthe playing two games without any goals : 6pts. As opposed to Barton or Helguson netting a goal will surpass that tally..?

It's a percentage game I suppose, plus the attraction for more bonus pts with the extra game... It'd a different question if say the extra game was say ManU v Bolton - load up on ManU no questions. Just thought it might be food for thought..

May your decisions be wise 🙂

some dgws are certainly more profitable than others. and managers can get a little too cute with it. couldnt understand last year why people were bringing in and captaining birmingham attacking players. didnt the first 20 gws give these managers pause? this dgw has some importance due to the one extra fixture and spurs scoring so well. you gotta have some spurs.

I can remember seasons past taking hits to bring in DGW players, and it not paying off!
I totally agree with you on the Spurs factor, Ade, VDV and Bale have done very well all season.
King, Gallas and Modric haven't been much to shout about.
Everton just lack any real star in the team, Baines has been a let down, even Cahill, Saha is a waste of time and the only one imo of showing a bit of promise is Drenthe 🙂 !

The Spurs trio of Bale, VDV and Ade are all worth being traded in. Possible only Drenthe for Everton.

I put him in last week and regret it. I am now convinced he will play centre mid with all of their attacking options fit and lack of defence/midfield options. And he seems to carry a real discipline of sitting deeper in this role, spraying it around but never breaking in the box. With Newc (a) to follow, I cannot see Giggs starting again. Carrick is also due a rest if they can afford it. Where as Wellbeck, Chito and Berb are all raring to go up front. In fact, it is impossible Roon will start in attack! You have to fancy Berb to start this one again now but then the team that started at QPR will get rolled out at Newc (possibly Giggs in for a defender).

Good question. Was all set on Sturridge till I saw my cup opponent had Roon and knee-jerked. Would rather Sturridge over the next 2 games. I especially fancy him at Wolves. His game is really suited for this type of away fixture.
