We’re left punctured and deflated like that old plastic ball you used to kick over the fence into the neighbour’s garden.

That neighbour is Pep Guardiola, who appears to take great pleasure in putting his big teamsheet tinkering garden fork through our bouncy double Gameweek dreams.

Recorded in the dying stages of Manchester City’s non-event clash against a stubborn Stoke, Jonty, Andy and myself are left rather flat during this episode of the ScoutCast.

Even the most imaginative accountant couldn’t hide the fact that, after transfer hits aplenty and having witnessed Messrs Kane, Costa, Hazard and Lukaku grab hauls, all three of us depart Gameweek 27 in the red.

Gathering ourselves after that disappointment, and steered by your questions, we nonetheless press on to offer our latest musings on the minefield of blanks presented by Gameweek 28, while checking in on Sanchez’ fading star and third striker options.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience, pastry and all, via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

        That was a strange day. As soon as I read that Barca had scored, I started watching the match. Then for another 36 minutes no goal happened. Then I changed it to the city match and two minutes later Barca scored. So I thought since I want aguero to score and Barca to win, I developed a temporary superstition and slept off. The morning results were mixed though.

      Keep Sane. Fixture difficulty based on defence-side in this case for me. Bar Chelsea, and they're well capable of scoring against them as they've gone a bit less CS friendly, they can get decent attacking returns from these alleged difficult fixtures. Forget the Stoke blip. Saves you points and transfers as there aren't mighty alternatives for GW28 that'll return +4 points.

      Thanks all. I'm bringing in Coutinho and, to be honest, don't really want any more Liverpool stinking up my team. Zero WHU is a given; when did any of their players last give you a decent return on investment? I'm getting 9 out this week, which I'm happy with, which is why I asked which to keep, not how to decimate a squad it's taken 25 weeks to build 😉

    Does Mané only haul against teams that press forward and try to attack?
    If we look at the last 10GWs that Mané has been involved in, he's returned: 2 goals vs Spurs, 1 goal and 1 assist vs Arsenal, 1 goal vs Sunderland, 1 goal vs Everton

    Everton, Spurs and Arsenal definitely went out there looking for a win. Is it that these teams in pressing forward gave Mané ample space to run wild? I don't have enough confidence to captain Mané against defensive sides (e.g. Burnley) that are just going to park the bus. I feel in those sort of games, without the freedom to make his runs, Mané is less of a lure than the other Pool mids.

            Definitely, you need a some Pool mid(s) up to DGW. I was referring to specifically this week. And the penalties only add to the case for King. Anyway, whoever I get in goes out next week for Sanchez 🙂

        Mané does definitely do better at Anfield than away that's for sure. But is Burnley really that bad away from home defensivey. Agreed, they're not likely to win but in their last 7 away games they've conceded 1 at West Ham and Hull, 2 at Spurs, City, Arsenal and Watford, and only at Swansea did they concede 3. Not exactly the sort of rout that's being hoped for.

    Morning dzzz, how we doing? confused on my next move..1ft and 1.3m

    Heaton -- Grant
    Mcauly Coleman Robertson -- Valencia Stones
    Philips Barkley Mane Fletcher -- Sterling
    Kaku -- Kun Ibra

    my issue is that my gw29 transfers are dependent on gw28 transfer
    A: sterling >> siggy...then gw29: philips + ibra >> 6.8m mid + Kane (-4)
    B: sterling >> snoddy..then gw29: philips + ibra >> alli + kane (-4)
    C: Ibra >> lloriente/carroll...then gw29: philips + kun >> sanchez + kane (-4)

      B as it gets you Kane and Alli.

      D Kun to Lorente now
      Next week Ibra to Kane and Phillips to Alli?

      I think the Sanchez plan is most important TBH
      Mine is Aguero Mane > Kane Sanchez (or Eriksen Phillips > Sanchez Carroll)

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Coleman Brunt Smith (Alonso Pieters)
    Mané Sigurdsson Phillips (Eriksen Sane)
    Lukaku Llorente (Aguero)

    0 FT 1.4 ITB
    Hit-tastic this week, paying the price of poor planning... 🙁

    Already done :
    Ibrahimovic > Llorente
    de Roon >Sigurdsson
    Sterling > Mané

    Pretty certain I'll do
    Sané > Coutinho too...if Phillips is out it'll be another...hey ho...

    Heaton
    Coleman McAuley *Holebas*
    Mane Siggy Philips *Zaha* *Sterling*
    Llorente Lukaku *Kun*

    Did Ibra -> Kun as my FT.

    Are any 2 of these worth -8?
    A. Zaha -> WHU mid/King
    B. Sterling -> LIV mid
    C. Kun -> Carroll

    Thanks.

      Didnt' get a reply so resposting:

      I have 10 players this week, and am on a -4.

      Is it worth doing Sanchez -> Mane (I already have Couts) for another hit? Could captain Mane and it would essentially be for a -2. Prefer Mane going forward too.

            I agree, although it depends if you plan on playing a WC soon. Everton still look good next week, as do Swansea. Liverpool attackers v Man City not the worst so as long as you have a couple of Spurs on the bench...
