A little earlier than usual, we roll out our pre-Gameweek members article assessing the armband options available for the reduced round of Gameweek 28 matches.

To kick off, we begin by checking in with the main Captain Poll contenders, then take a look at the Opta numbers and Rate My Team rankings before throwing a differential or two into the mix.

The Captain Poll

There’s a two-way tussle at the top of our Gameweek 28 Captain Poll, with Romelu Lukaku claiming the summit on 43% ahead of Everton’s home encounter with West Brom.

The Toffees frontman has scored in each of his last four at Goodison, including a four-goal haul against Bournemouth, and faces a Baggies defence with just a single clean sheet on their travels this season – way back on the opening weekend.

Sadio Mane is regarded as the Belgian’s main contender as Liverpool entertain Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

Double-digit hauls against Spurs and Arsenal in each of his last two Anfield appearances since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations means that the Senegal international has five sets of 10+ returns at home.

Both Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho are clear differentials for the Merseysiders, with 3% of votes apiece.

Somewhat surprisingly, Firmino, for all his inconsistency, has delivered double-figures five times at Anfield already, including last week’s 12-point tally against Anfield. Yet the Brazilian faces a late assessment after picking up a knock ahead of the Clarets’ encounter.

With one goal in his last nine league appearances, though, Coutinho’s output has been less than impressive, yet the former Inter man has boasted a considerable goal threat of late and fired more attempts on goal over the last four Gameweeks than any player.

Burnley’s top level defensive data certainly boosts Liverpool’s prospects, with Sean Dyche’s side shipping 28 goals in 13 road trips.

Encouragingly, all four visiting teams in Gameweek 28 have managed just a single clean sheet apiece away from home so far, indicating that that goals could be on the menu for the host sides.

Bournemouth’s Josh King grabs third spot ahead of a home clash with West Ham.

Assigned spot-kicks with Callum Wilson injured, the Norwegian boasts five goals in the last six Gameweeks and has mainly been utilised up front by Eddie Howe in recent matches.

Swansea City pair Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente both hover around the 3% mark for a trip to Hull City.

Now up to joint-sixth in the FPL midfield standings, the Icelandic international has bagged returns in seven of his eight outings under Paul Clement – that includes points at Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea in his last three road trips.

Llorente arrives on the back of his fourth brace of the season in last week’s win over Burnley – the Spaniard is the most transferred in player ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.

Elsewhere, Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll have been largely overlooked for West Ham’s trip to Bournemouth’s creaking defence.

Antonio has already bagged double-figures against the Cherries earlier in the season, while Carroll’s aerial ability threatens to wreak havoc on a defence that has the second-worst record for headed efforts conceded over the season.

Gents, Any chance I'll hear anymore on the likelihood of Bournemouth's Francis starting or not?

Howe said ''he's improving every day, we'll make a late call on his availability''

FPL Lock down is at 2pm tomorrow.

I'm way behind the times, but just got a PS4. Haven't played games for years, I imagine they've moved on a lot.

I always liked first person shooters, and prefer single player mode to multiplayer. Wary about sandbox/open-world type games - prefer something with a good story rather than roaming around picking up missions.

With that said, can someone recommend me some games??

GTA V is one of the best games ever made. It's open world but has a great story mode too. I never liked those types of games before GTA V, but it's one of the best games I've played. Making me miss my PS4... Sold it last year.

FIFA the obvious one, Call of Duty games aren't what they were now compared to when I was younger. Some had a decent story mode though, the one with Kevin Spacey in it is good (god knows how they got him to act a character in a COD game).

LA Noire has an excellent story mode. I don't know how to explain it so I used C&P: "L.A. Noire is notable for using Depth Analysis's newly developed technology MotionScan, whereby the actors portraying the game's characters were recorded by 32 surrounding cameras to capture facial expressions from every angle.[6][7] The technology is central to the game's interrogation mechanic, as players must use the suspects' reactions to questioning to judge whether or not they are lying. L.A. Noire was the first video game to be shown at the Tribeca Film Festival.[8][9] Upon release, the game received wide acclaim for its advances in storytelling and facial animation technology. As of February 2012, both PC and console versions had shipped[b] nearly 5 million copies combined."

    Sterling Mane Siggy Phillips Snodgrass
    Zlatan Aguero Defoe

In big trouble this week with only 6 of my players likely to play this week... I'm stuck with just 1 FT and 0.1 ITB... Wise to use my WC?

Similar position to me, not tempted to wildcard though, just taking a hit or 2 to bring numbers up to 8 or 9. In your case I'd get 2 new strikers and maybe 1 somewhere else...

Just take a hit, most people will be this week. Need at least 9 players surely

Philips out for King. Mawson in for Holebas is a good start.
Doubt Holgate or Amat will play.
Do not use your WC. EVery one will have a low score this week. You won't drop too far. Just bring in players who have good fixtures coming up.
You def needs an upgrade soon. You may want to WC next week. Get players in who didn't play this GW then you have them.for the DGW coming up around GW33 or 34.

Hey guys, already took -8 and have 9 playing this GW.

Is Phillips --> King worth another -4?

    Cheers

So I have 8 active players - 9 including Amat - with no hits. Tempted to leave it at that, especially since I can't get Llorente (already have 3 Swansea) and no other strikers appeal...

Good or bad idea? Relying on no hits as a differential!

This week would be a good opportunity to replace Amat, unless you plan on keeping him?

That's an idea too - Amat to Robertson and Aguero to Llorente for -8?

Yep, good moves. Gives you 2 extra players this week and decent fixtures going forward.

Thanks - only worry would be the doubling of Swansea attack going forward (triple this week with Carroll playing off the bench).

Phillips to anyone decent is worth -4 if short of players.

Any advice on this? Already taken a 4 point hit but happy to take another if worth it. 0.3m ITB.

    Foster
    Coleman, McAuley, Amat
    Mane, King, Siggy, Carroll
    Lukaku (c)

(Pickford, Alonso, Pieters, Sanchez, Defoe, Aguero)

I'd get Aguero out for either Carroll or Llorente for a -2 effectively. its worth the risk this week

Would you gamble getting Cargill (BOU DEF 4.1) in for Amat in hopes that he would play for -4 hit? I only have 4.1 left in the bank and don't see any other 4.1M Defenders that could play

Grosicki captain anyone? Suppose he's good enough as a differential without the armband.

    Baines - McAuley - Robertson - Fernandez
    Mane (c) - Siggy - Snodgrass
    Lukaku (vc) - Carroll

    -8pts

Not when I'm taking -12 and it so happens that you need another hit to field 11.
