A little earlier than usual, we roll out our pre-Gameweek members article assessing the armband options available for the reduced round of Gameweek 28 matches.

To kick off, we begin by checking in with the main Captain Poll contenders, then take a look at the Opta numbers and Rate My Team rankings before throwing a differential or two into the mix.

The Captain Poll

There’s a two-way tussle at the top of our Gameweek 28 Captain Poll, with Romelu Lukaku claiming the summit on 43% ahead of Everton’s home encounter with West Brom.

The Toffees frontman has scored in each of his last four at Goodison, including a four-goal haul against Bournemouth, and faces a Baggies defence with just a single clean sheet on their travels this season – way back on the opening weekend.

Sadio Mane is regarded as the Belgian’s main contender as Liverpool entertain Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

Double-digit hauls against Spurs and Arsenal in each of his last two Anfield appearances since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations means that the Senegal international has five sets of 10+ returns at home.

Both Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho are clear differentials for the Merseysiders, with 3% of votes apiece.

Somewhat surprisingly, Firmino, for all his inconsistency, has delivered double-figures five times at Anfield already, including last week’s 12-point tally against Anfield. Yet the Brazilian faces a late assessment after picking up a knock ahead of the Clarets’ encounter.

With one goal in his last nine league appearances, though, Coutinho’s output has been less than impressive, yet the former Inter man has boasted a considerable goal threat of late and fired more attempts on goal over the last four Gameweeks than any player.

Burnley’s top level defensive data certainly boosts Liverpool’s prospects, with Sean Dyche’s side shipping 28 goals in 13 road trips.

Encouragingly, all four visiting teams in Gameweek 28 have managed just a single clean sheet apiece away from home so far, indicating that that goals could be on the menu for the host sides.

Bournemouth’s Josh King grabs third spot ahead of a home clash with West Ham.

Assigned spot-kicks with Callum Wilson injured, the Norwegian boasts five goals in the last six Gameweeks and has mainly been utilised up front by Eddie Howe in recent matches.

Swansea City pair Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente both hover around the 3% mark for a trip to Hull City.

Now up to joint-sixth in the FPL midfield standings, the Icelandic international has bagged returns in seven of his eight outings under Paul Clement – that includes points at Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea in his last three road trips.

Llorente arrives on the back of his fourth brace of the season in last week’s win over Burnley – the Spaniard is the most transferred in player ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.

Elsewhere, Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll have been largely overlooked for West Ham’s trip to Bournemouth’s creaking defence.

Antonio has already bagged double-figures against the Cherries earlier in the season, while Carroll’s aerial ability threatens to wreak havoc on a defence that has the second-worst record for headed efforts conceded over the season.

Starting on zero pts might be a good differential 😀

On side note, anyone considered Liverpool's defense or is it a no-go zone? I like the look of Matip for next few weeks but he is too expensive for a punt 😳

Work out who you can afford to sell in attack.
Trickier one with GK/def to get instant result.

If you want more players, you're presumably going to have to take some hits.
      Sterling > Mane
      Defoe > Carroll
      Pickford > Jaku

      just some suggestions

    Quick A, B or C

    A: Coutinho + Mane
    B: Coutinho + King
    Or
    C: Mane + Antonio

Will probably have Carroll as Striker (alongside Luka)

Somehow I've slowly been converted into taking hits this week. Hoorraay 🙂
    For a -8 I'm thinking Sterling>Coutinho and Defoe>Lllorente from this team:

    Heaton
    Valencia* Coleman Brunt Robertson
    Sterling* Mane Siggy Snodgrass
    Lukaku Defoe*
    (Kane* Capoue* Love* Pickford*)

    Should I go for it?

This is my biggest dilemma, he hasn't scored in 3 but has decent enough fixtures. Sunderland look absolutely dire at the moment too.

If you don't think he'll score well over those games probably best to move him on.

Llorente has form and fixtures so it's a good move.

So is it worth it to do Amat to Mawson for another -4?

He would be my 11th player for this gw and would have someone who play instead of Amat Deadwood for lets say -2

Among the best parts of doing such a move is the Swans fixture list. It's a tasty nugget! How many hits you take so far this GW?

      1. JJO
        • 13 Years
        8 years, 10 months ago

        -8 already
        So it would be -12

          • 12 Years
          8 years, 10 months ago

Hmmm. Taking it up to a -12 is stretching it a bit far in general, but this week is shaping up to be a safer time to do such a thing. You could ride out the rest of the season with Mawson, which would add some value to the move. And Amat is just dead wood drifting on the seas.

          1. JJO
            • 13 Years
            8 years, 10 months ago

            Yeah exactly
Those extra -4/-2 maybe is too much
It would be a long term move, but with uncertainty about when will I play my 2nd WC maybe its not the wisest move
            Who knows

Best West Ham midfielder to get in?

Ayew perhaps if we knew he would start. Otherwise, probably Lanzini, Snodgrass and then Antonio in that order for me.

    Foster
    Coleman
    Mane - Lallana - Siggy - Fletcher
    Lukaku - Llorente

Pickford, Alonso, Pieters, Chambers, Holebas. Philips, Kane

Anything worth a hit here ?

Which team is most likely to get a penalty this week?
Which team concedes most penalties ? ( Considering this week )

Hull concede a lot I think. Siggy then.

I have 11 playing just about. But should I take a punt and do Costa & Aguero > Carroll & Llorente for a -8? Would then get Costa back next week.

Keep Costa to save a transfer and do Kun to who you think scores more over the time you'll keep them.

In that case... Llorente or Carroll?

Do you have any Swans or WH cover? If not I'd say Llorente.

I would just do Aguero to Llorente, Carroll can break down at any minute with some new injury.

Thinking of bring in Fernandez of Swansea away at Hull for -4 instead of a player who definitely won't play (or any week for that matter).

Swansea have some okay fixtures after next week, so he's wouldn't be a bad addition to the bench.

    Is it worth the -4?
