Deadline passed, we’ve just the one match to distract us while we ponder the merits of our latest tinkerings. It’s off to Anfield for what is traditionally a cracker, as Liverpool face Newcastle – the Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to soak up the match events as they happen…

The team news is in and there are few surprises amongst them. With Luis Suarez twiddling his thumbs after putting his one finger to use at Craven Cottage, Kenny Dalglish recalls Craig Bellamy in tandem with Newcastle old boy Andy Carroll. The script is there, can the big Geordie deliver?

Liverpool’s other change has Jay Spearing make a return, with Maxi Rodriguez making way. He joins Steven Gerrard on the bench.

As for Newcastle, they make just one change with Haris Vuckic drafted in for Leon Best who is amongst the subs. Demba Ba shakes off a “little knock” to his knee to lead the line, carrying the hopes of the travelling Magpies faithful and the expectations of plenty of Fantasy managers. Enjoy the game.

  interesting choice with Gerrard, I'm considering picking him up too. Considering that was his first game back and he can play like that... sign of good things to come. I know i may get some flack for this but look at Man U's schedule, Honestly I think the money Nani is taking up can be better invested after they play bolten they play arsenal, chelsea, liverpool, and spurs within a few gameweeks. To me thats going to be a loss of points and I would rather invest with 2 people who are returning well with easier games... but I guess that's personal preference.

    Not quite true mate. What about the opportunity cost of the player you got rid of or benched who would have otherwise started? He'll most likely get two points as well, if not more. So, you don't get your hit back simply cos your DGW player scores 4 points over two games.

  If you're only doing one transfer then get BAE or Walker in.
  
  As for which of those two, I compared chalkboards for the two of them last night and there isn't a lot in it. Walker crosses more balls into the box while BAE tends to play shorter passes into the box, and is more accurate with his passing. Basically Walker's crosses are more dangerous than BAE's but they're less likely to have someone on the end of them. Walker also takes marginally more shots, but they've been generally wayward in the last few games.
  
  So I went for BAE in the end as he's cheaper.

  It also will be affected by whether you've used your other WC yet. If not, I'd trade away during the pre-GW 21 days; you'll have 13 days to catch price risers in order to build team value.

    Why can't you see it continuing? Personally I can; firstly Vorm is just a class keeper and secondly Swansea are so good at keeping the ball. The opposition can't score without the ball. Can't see why that would change in the second half of the season.

was looking at using both to get dgw players in- orginally wanted to get rid of shawcross and walters for bae and osman, but jevans' price is droppin tonight accordingt fpl, but not fisoand will continue to do so. I am going to use the 2fts this week regardless as i think its worth it. i am considering getting rid of silva and walters but im reluctant to as i have them so cheap

  Personally, I think BAE and Osman are your best shouts for the DGW.
  
  But possibly you might want to forgo the Eve players, trade two defenders (Enrique and ShawX) for BAE and Walters.
  
  Just thinking a bit 'outside the box'. And doing so keeps Silva in your team.

Dilemma... Have Valencia and Nani in my midfield with Ba up front who needs to be replaced!
Have 1 FT and 1.3m in the bank. Would it be better to:
1) straight swap Valencia for Bale
2) or to take a 4pt hit and replace Ba with Helguson/Morison etc.. and replace Walters with Bale instead?
