After a five month long winter break the new season of Norwegian’s top flight football kicked off with a bang with two Gameweeks within a few days.

With Gameweek 3 starting on Saturday there is little respite for the clubs, and more importantly, us Fantasy managers. Gameweek 2 saw a lot of frustration as key assets were either benched or taken off early with the tight schedule in mind.

FFScout League Standings

The FFS community has shown an overwhelming interest for this fringe league, with 476 already having entered the FFScout main league (3769-1041).

On top with 135 points we find Norwegian Red (Oieiao) – perhaps fittingly – an Englishman.

In the FFScout  H2H league 16 managers have won both their matchups, with Ned Ryerson and Riski Virksomhet being joint top thanks to their superior points tally. Ned Ryerson features again on top of Phil Dagger’s Last Man Standing.

Stock Check

Ahead of looking at the risers and fallers from the two Gameweeks so far it is worth checking out Goktugerce‘s excellent statistical review of the first two Gameweeks, looking at team statistics, average positions and expected goals & assists. Meanwhile, Niemi took an in depth look at the good and bad players so far in every position.

Rising

Vegar Hedenstad (6.5) – Two clean sheets and an assist. On some set pieces.

Mike Jensen (10.5) – Two assists. Easy on the eye, which means he will be a favourite of ‘the man in the stand’. Already has 4 bonus points.

Milan Jevtovic (7.6) – A goal and an assist. A possible injury to Elbasan Rashani means Jevtovic could be nailed on going forward.

Nicklas Bendtner (12.5) – Two goals. The Dane is yet to find the groove but nonetheless has managed to find the back of the net in both games. Will score a lot of goals purely because of the sheer amount of chances Rosenborg create every game.

Sigurd Rosted (5.6) – Two goals. Not only is he a massive threat from set pieces, Sarpsborg play 4 out of their next 6 fixtures at home. Last season they kept an impressive 9 clean sheets in 15 games at home.

Patrick Mortensen (6.6) – Two goals and an assist. Sarpsborg have scored the joint most goals so far and the fixtures are favourable.

Gilbert Koomson (7.5) – Dubbed ’Siggy of Eliteserien’ by some of the FFS posters, Koomson showed some of his potential by scoring a penalty in GW2. The top assister from last season is yet to assist this campaign but that looks like a matter of time.

Bendik Bye (5.5) – Two goals and an assist. After a potential season ending injury for strike parter Ole Sveen, Bye should have done enough to nail down a permanent starting place.

Ifeanyi Matthew (6.1) – A goal and an assist. 4 bonus points already, including full points in a game his team lost.

Ibrahim Shuaibu (5.0) – Two goals and two assists. Incredible form and value.

Frederik Gytkjær (7.5) – Three goals. Mistaken for his brother who was the league’s top scorer last season, a lot of casuals have enjoyed the early investment of the younger Gytkjær.

Ohi Omoijuanfo (7.0) – Hat-trick in the first home game. 3 of the next 4 fixtures are at home.

Marco Tagbajumi (7.6) – Two goals. Going somewhat under the radar compared to his expensive strike partner Marcus Pedersen. Favourable fixtures.

Jylian Ryerson (4.5) – One goal. Listed as a cheap defender, Ryerson has played both games in an advanced midfield position. Will probably drop a bit deeper once Adegbenro is back. Ryerson is a jack of all trades and due to Viking’s extremely thin squad we could hope to see him OOP for longer parts of the season.

Falling

Ghayas Zahid (10.5) – Tipped by many to be in contention for player of the year, Zahid has nothing to show for so far. Consistent returns are vital for players with a premium price tag. Does however face the bottom team at home in GW3 so those patient enough to keep could finally be rewarded.

Mohammed Abdellaoue (9.4) – An impressive pre season was followed by an anonymous opening GW before being ruled out for GW2 with an injury. Is very injury prone.

Lars Vilsvik (6.0) – Viewed as a full back with big attacking threat, the only thing Vilsvik has produced so far is an own goal. The fixtures are however still good.

Rafik Zekhnini (8.5) & Fredrik Nordkvelle (9.0) – Although the former registered an assist after coming on as a sub, he was benched due poor work ethic in the previous match. The latter is yet to return attacking points.

Samuel Adegbenro (7.5) – After missing the first game through illness, Adegbenro returned to training ahead of GW2. But he missed the second game as well, and now await four of the toughest games Viking will play all season.

Gameweek 3 Picks

Scoring the winner in his debut game, Bård Finne (9.1) will look to continue his good home form when Vålerenga welcome the bottom team Sandefjord. With Abdellaoue being a doubt for Sunday, Finne might benefit from a central striker role.

When it comes to attempts, midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew (6.1) is second only to Bendik Bye with 4 shots per game. The Nigerian will certainly fancy his chances at home against what currently is the joint worst defence in the league.

Marco Tagbajuni (7.6) is on top for average xG (expected goals) per shot. Although a small sample size, this suggests he has so far been on the right place at the right time. Up against a shambolic Aalesund defence, the rather budget friendly striker could potentially even be trusted with the armband.

Pulled the trigger on A. Sigurdarson to Matthew. Could easily have scored and another 2 bonus despite losing.

I'm thinking of getting one of Tagbajumi, Mortensen or Lindberg. Who out of those would you get? I'm also getting rid of Zahid, but not sure for who. What mid, unlimited price, would you want right now? Other starting mids are: Midtsjo - Koomson - Sigurdarson

    Thinking about doing...
M Pedersen + Sørli to Kastrati + Haugen at a 4 point cost.
The swap in mid would be done after Brann game.

Would give me (and I know the cheap forwards might not be to everyones likeng) this front 8.

    Helland, Jensen, Haugen, Koomson, Gamst
    Tagbajumi, Kastrati, Berisha

Would play Berisha next week at home. If he doesn't start or do something I could, for a hit the gw5, go for someone up to 8.8m

    Does this look decent enough?

Got 3 Rosenborg and never intended to get Bendtner.

Also of course could do Berisha to a S08 forward for free in gw5 if fails to impress in gw4.

      1. Cpt Crunch Scott talent

        8 years, 8 months ago

        Oh yes, that is true.
But only 1 game susp I hope?
My subs should cover, I think... Plus I have Ruud, Hedenstad, Vilsvik, Wormgoor as defenders so could also go 4 at the back for a game.
I'll only have up to 8.3 to replace Berisha for a hit it seems(if I downgrade Vilvik) or 6.3 without a hit(Shibuya).

        Does all this seems bonkers?

        1. Niemi
          • 11 Years

But why Kastrati? He's not a bad pick, but he's one yellow away from suspension and there are other good picks. Shuaibu is playing for a better team and is cheaper. He's the obvious pick. Lindberg and Bye also good picks IMO if you want a cheap 3rd striker.

Tagbajumi and Mortensen tempting, but not sure it's worth a hit.

Matthew with another 6 shots today. 3 inside the box and 3 outside. Averaging 4.7 shots per game now.

Benching headache now with Njie and Shuaibu performing. Njie at home against high flying Sarpsborg or Shuaibu away against Brann who barely concede at home? Tempted to go Njie actually.

I think I'll be doing Zahid > Matthew, unless a Brann mid convinces me otherwise tomorrow. Is the fact that he's a CM not off-putting or is he a CM in the same way as Midtsjo/Jensen?

Yeah, I'd go Njie in those circumstances.

            1. Niemi

He's a CM in a midfield 2, but he is often in decent attacking positions and has a good shoot. You don't have to ask him twice to shoot either. Also the fact that he's getting bonus points even with his team loosing (6 bonus points so far, 5 from matches they lost).

He is currently my 4th midfielder though. I'm not sure 100% sure I would get him if your budget is 10.5. Haugen is the only one I would buy from Brann, the others not worth touching. Do you have space for Jevtovic? A Molde midfielder would be a good idea if they were nailed, but there are no nailed attacking midfielders from Molde.

I personally don't mind getting him even if my budget is 10.5 (plus 1.9 itb). Surely points is all that matters? My midfield would be: Miftsjo - Koomson - Matthew - Sigurdarson

No room for Jevtovic as I have 3 Rosenborg players already. But I will consider others than Matthew. Is Riski nailed?

Seems like he's nailed. I expect players like Haugen to outscore Matthew (mostly due to set pieces), but Matthew is a good value pick.

Just checked the stats and seems like Sigurdarson had a few shots and key passes today. 5 shots, 3 inside the box. Not seen any of them myself, just been looking at the stats.

Noticed Fernandes has 3 saves so far in 3 games, but conceded 5. Dyngeland has 12 saves, but conceded 7. Not expecting anything from them going forward, but at least Dyngeland is getting the saves. I'm 0.1 short of doing Dyngeland>Leceijewski, frustrating.

I fail to see any great keepers at 4.5. Janukiewicz is tempting if he's nailed. Kongshavn has also started well with a lot of saves and a CS. Not sure if he's a better option though. Kristiansen could be a good midpriced alternative at 5.0. Sarpsborg are looking really good this year, although they have played 2 of the worst teams (on current form) + Sogndal who's pretty average.

I think I might have enough money later on to do McDermott > Leceijewski, especially if I do Zahid > Matthew. Until then, I'm stuck with him and Fernandes 🙁

Lillestrøm could still tighten up, but I think they look poor defensively so far. They have conceded the fewest numbers of shots in Tippeligaen so far (7 shots per game) along with Rosenborg. Hopefully that bodes well. Sogndal on the other han have conceded the highest number of shots per game (21) so far.

Kristiansund has also conceded few shots (8 per game) against two of the top teams in Tippeligaen (Odd and Molde). Should be interesting to see how they do tomorrow.

Probably since next league game is next monday, league slowing down means people take the time to consider the next move since they know Zahid out will give them some slush-cash to upgrade no matter who replaces him..... my guess many are considering Haugen and wants to see him tonight.

Or not for those of us still running the Fernandes/Origi combo, I still don't see any possibility of LSK outfield double potential, so that will likely remain my duo this season, the league is way too unpredictable to rotate with any confidence anyway imo.

Some Tromsø fans are raving about Aron Sigurdarson. Apparently played very well against Sogndal. Stats looks decent as well. On the other hand they are complaining about him not getting his head up. Constantly in good attacking positions, but making the wrong decisions. Sounds like a frustrating player. Hopefully he won't make me regret selling him..

Indeed! The biggest problem is teams like Vålerenga, Strømsgodset, Odd and Molde are expected to do well, but they are not playing well currently. Strømsgodset and Molde also have very unsettled lineups, which lower their appeal. Odd also had a fair bit of rotation in the starting XI. Fixtures aren't piling up again before mid May, so won't see this much rotation going forward IMO. Mid table sides don't have as big squad as the top sides, so they can't afford to rotate as much as the top teams. The gap isn't that big between the teams behind Rosenborg either, so the price difference doesn't always reflect the difference in quality.

Thought the likes of M.Pedersen, Moa, Zahid. But looking through the altomfotball tables it was actually pretty spread out, or players no longer in the league.

Moa was injured for most of the season, Pedersen injured a lot as well. Zahid did well enough. The price on those players are pretty much based on what we know they are capable of doing, not what they did last year.

Pedersen shouldn't even be considered with Tagbajumi looking like a better striker at Strømsgodset currently at 3.0 less. Pedersen might even be off penalties after yesterdays miss, so there's surely no appeal for him now.

Worth nothing that there are 3 games in 7-8 days between GW8-10. Could see a lot of rotation like the first 3 GWs. Maybe that's the time to WC?

That's a good point. Using WC then might help you cope with rotations. While I am happy with my team so far, I also would like to utilise my WC as much as possible so it's a big question. Around 8-10 looks good though.

I upgraded Zahid to Matthew... Still deciding on one of the others for Sigurdarson.
Svendsen's fixtures ok, if he plays.

Ouch, tough one, all 3 are poised to get results from their work soon and all 3 face each of the others within the next 3 gameweeks.... guess I'm not too much help 🙂 Whats the rest of your team look like?

I've decided to keep Svendsen, at least until deadline. Vålerenga looking leaky and Molde didn't look too bad against Rosenborg IMO. As long as he starts I'd keep for at least 1 more gameweek. 6 out of 8 matches 1 hour after deadline next gameweek, so we'll know most lineups. The other 2 3 hours after deadline.

Rage transfers yesterday after another disappointing week. MP and Zahid to Lord and Haugen (yeah, I know. And bloody Zahid didn't even drop in price).

                                Dyngeland
                                Hedenstad Ruud Vilsvik

                                Fernandes Moe Valles Norbye

3.9 in the bank to assess the keeper situation and strikers. Both Omo and Linberg very close to big scores yesterday, but just didn't happen.

Rosenborg are facing Viking, probably one of the worst teams so far this season. I'd prefer to get a Rosenborg player in now.

Would you Wildcard? -4 won't cut it. 0.7 ITB

After a great first GW, the last two have been disastrous. Have all the wrong players from most teams.

                                Hansen
                                Parr - Nakkim - Ruud - Albech

                                Bendtner -> Mortensen?

Oh I didn't notice Hansen sorry. I wouldn't want GK taking up a Rosenborg spot.

Bendtner - frustrating but such high ownership that it didn't seem to impact rank despite captaining him. I think there's value in that, in addition to points potential.

                                      To be honest, yes.

Hansen a waste of Rosenborg space, better options out there. Wouldn't want Nakkim in there with Vålerenga looking really shaky at the back. Albech injured (don't know how bad), Juklerød not a good pick really. Marcus Pedersen not worth the price tag. I still think Lindberg is a decent pick, but on current form it seems like Mortensen or Shuaibu are the ones to pic up. Hussain not playing either. Prefer Vilsvik over Parr as well, but not sure if I would want either on a WC.

                                      I'd say Hansen>Leceijewski
                                      Nakkim>Hedenstad
                                      Albech>Rosted
                                      Juklerød>Koomson
                                      Pedersen>Tagbajumi
                                      Lindberg>Shuaibu/Mortensen
                                      Hussain>Haugen
Parr>Vilsvik/Ryerson (depending on funds, Ryerson great OOP appeal)
Jensen>Jevtovic/Midtsjø (if you need more funds)

Wow, thanks for the feedback. I agree, was considering Leciewski, but wanted to wait n see how Brann would be defensively this year.

No interest in Brann defs? They seem pretty darn solid at home, Rolantsson great OOP potential, though at a hefty price

                                          They seem tight so far.

Brann defenders are definitely interesting, but personally I wouldn't want to double up just yet. No Leceijewski and I would get a Brann defender.

Rolantsson is definitely worth his price tag is he can keep his place as a winger, but I'm not convinced he's nailed on in either positions. He was supposed to start the last match as a full back, but they had to make some last minute changes due to Braaten being ill. Nouri came in as a right back and Rolantsson started as a winger. Nouri and the new guy Jonsson could both play right back, with Braaten and Vega playing as wingers. Skaanes, Skålevik and some of the other forwards could also be moved out wide.

Pedersen needs to go. Tagbajumi cheaper and better stats, though that might seem sideways. Goalies should be sorted, I have the same and they just aren't working.

I'd say it's still worth monitoring. Not working yet, but at least Kristiansund and Lillestrøm have been conceding the fewest chances. I'm still eyeing up a premium GK myself.

Cheers! Anyone else to upgrade Pedersen with?

There's only one striker more expensive than Pedersen and he's called Bendtner. I'd say Tagbajumi is an upgrade over Pedersen right now. Other obvious replacement is Mortensen. I still have faith in Sigurdarson (9.0), but he hasn't delivered anything yet.

Does anyone know anything about Wangberg, the Tromso defender? He's gotten two goals in the past three. Seems unsustainable but still interesting, very under the radar.

Can't keep it up. Tromsø have started the season well though He is a threat from corners etc., but isn't known as a great goal scorer. He is a centre back who previously have played for Rosenborg and Brann. Couldn't nail down a starting spot before he moved to Tromsø in 2014. 2 goals in 2015 and 2 assist in 2014.

I'd say it's a small miracle that they didn't concede any goals last night.

He's been playing fairly well though, but I still sold him regardless.
