The last 16 of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, or the sixth round proper if you like, has given us our quarter-finalists who are now just one win away from playing for the big prizes. Here is how the round played out…

1 – Back to Back Ballacks 44 – 45 gooner dave

The first tie of the round saw gooner dave come out on top in our closest tie of the round, with just a single point in it.

2 – DRP 60 – 55 Animons

The highest-scoring tie of the round was DRP‘s win against Animons. DRP’s score of 60 was the joint-top score for the week, but he misses out on the prize of a free £25 bet on the tie-breaker. Animons has the unfortunate title of the highest-scoring loser this round.

3 – Manif 39 – 41 tippman

Huge underdog Manif finally lived up to his billing and was beat in the lowest-scoring tie of the round, albeit by only two points. With the lowest score good enough for a win, tippman marches onto the quarter-finals.

4 – Roger 41 – 45 DaFoe22

From top-scorer one week to an unceremonious exit the next, Roger couldn’t build on his momentum and it was DaFoe22 inflicting that defeat.

5 – Ann_der_roo 40 – 59 User

The only other prize-winner in the competition was Ann_der_roo, but he also kicked the bucket this week. And he did so in spectacular fashion, being on the wrong side of the round’s biggest beating, a thumping 19 point victory for User.

6 – sandgrounder 54 – 46 Anorak

Arguably the biggest name in the last 16, Anorak had his cup dreams dashed, after comfortably being defeated at the hands of sandgrounder.

7 – BigRig 43 – 51 The Von

Without doubt, the unluckiest manager this week is BigRig, who may well think he has a quarter-final berth, but, for a shockingly late removal of a Matthew Etherington assist last gameweek, he does not. That meant that his original opponent, Dksbananas (gracious and sportsmanlike in belated defeat), had his score from last week cut severely after captaining the Stoke City midfielder. Commiserations to BigRig. The benefactor is The Von, who rightly had his cup status retained.

8 – DollyDaisy 60 – 46 RJBroughton

Last and by no means least is the award of the free £25 bet, courtesy of Paddy Power, for this week’s top-scorer DollyDaisy, who pips DRP to the prize thanks to a slender two-point overall lead. Congratulations to DollyDaisy.

A massive well done to the eight fantasy managers making the quarter-finals, having put together six straight wins. The draw for the quarter-finals may well be made live on the podcast this week, but in any case I’ll bring you the fixtures a day or two before the gameweek 14 deadline.

I have to decide tonight before Alex drops...it's either him or Kolarov. Cahill is guaranteed starter but I'm wondering if Kolarov can pull something incredible out of the bag in the next few weeks....Have to decide now though! Very hard choice

Dunno, had heard some speculative banter on here about it in the last few hours and it makes sense. Some other fella was sayin' the same thing about him dropping tonight. I'm not taking any chances. I'd love to pick Kolarov and then have him do some crazy sh1t like in that YouTube video, but then again, Cahill is a definite and a BP junky.

Never take an eight point hit unless you are bringing in one really good player. Make 1/2 transfers this week and see what you want to do the next week.

Who said it was necessarily a defensive role? He can play a role similar to Khedira...

I don't like him much, but there really isn't anyone better out there unfortunately. Carrick is a better player, but you can't play Huddlestone and Carrick.

But you see there is a huge flaw in this milner as khedira role.

Piggy and Alonso are beside him whom can tackel far better than THUD.

Ad you have to remember that Khedira can bomb on with Real and Germany because they are so excellent keeping possession . No UK teams can do this. SO your formation would never work.

                btw.

I think im gona put money on France now for Euro 2012. Have a nice feeling about that group and Spain have to lose eventually.

ps heard the news last night about the UK having to bail out Ireland financially and automatically thought of you being highly annoyed by that. Need to get off this site more often 🙂

Even Scrooge will be given us money soon.

Upper class knobs who fecked up the county with there lovely cartel.

Sad fact of the day. People who can change the country or any county will never be in positions of power to do so.
General public are eggits who love to vote for a lad who can chat the face of you about the local shop rather than economics or social reform.

Case in point: Brian Cowen. Excellent craic in his village. not a clue besides. Beautiful system we have in Ireland where a woman with no background in Public Health science, Nutrition, medicine and is grossly obese is over our health system.

        P Neville?

        I'd probably go -

        Hart
        Onouha, Terry, Rio, Cashley
        Muamba/Cattermole, Fat Frank, Huddlestone
        Gerrard, Rooney, Young

Gerrard would be on the wing but I'd let him drift in...

Muamba/Cattermole are in my opinion the best defensive mids we have

Muamba is a decent enough Premier League player, and he's very effective for Bolton, but if we played him against a Spain, Brazil or Argentina, he wouldn't last 15 minutes before getting sent off.

I'm just glad that no one has suggested Scott Parker so far.

          Hart.
          P Nev, Jagielka, Rio, Cole.
          Wilshire, Huddlestone,
          Lampard

AJ is so over rated. Applebonkers linked a great article by Southgate about AJ few days ago.

Basically AJ was bad trainer, never tracked back and left the team basically a man down.

Ronaldo never tracked back either. Let's be honest DB, you'll clutch at any straw when there is bad press about an english player around. Simple fact is 2 goals in his last 2 internationals.

Im not denying the fact he is good offensively , just saying he has his flaws.

And ronaldo didnt need to track back as alot of the time Rooney did the defensive work out wide and ronaldo stayed central.*

*If only I knew years ago on PESS to put Ronaldo as the striker - I never could get him to score 40 goals when on the wing 🙂

Back to AJ - was listening to Sunday Supplement the other day , LOL'don a run while listening to them talk about Mancini. There take was along the lines of "Mancini is making it up, AJ is a great lad, Mancini is trying to blame AJ, AJ should be starting ahead of silva as he is playing for Eng, AJ is god, "

And no point did they discuss whether Mancini was right in critising AJ about his performances, attitude,or lack of ability.

It was a fun run 🙂

Anyone got any early ideas on how the table will look after this gameweek? Feeling it's going to be pretty static. Top four to stay exactly the same as will the relegation zone. Wolves might get a point but West Ham will remain anchored, Liverpool likely the only real mover this week?

Both have some nice fixtures coming up - So who is better to take a punt on - Kenwyne or Gyan?

Now everyone take a look at this video - never seen anything as bad as this for someone missing an open goal

        Jamsiep,

Feel free to ignore this, but I read on there the other day that McNulty gave a talk at your old school. Was it his old school too?!

Yeah it was..... Although the talk apparently was figment of my brother's imagination. I asked a couple of other guys still there and they said they hadn't heard anything about it!

Do People think you should keep Cashley or offload all Chelsea defenders I need to get rid of Hutton and maybe Jags( fever ?) this week but am a bit worried about his cs now. If I get rid I will have to play Dann & Alcaraz. I was rather hoping to get rid of Drogba this week but am in a quandry what to do now. If possible can someone look at my team I am ok to take upto 8 pt hit this week !!!/

Well, maybe no cs, but injured players take priority. Cole is rising tonight, and possibly again this week as the masses swap, Terry and Alex to Cole.
