Vincent Kompany receives a four-match ban after picking up his second straight red card of the season. Wayne Rooney bags a brace as United line up a visit to Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup, while James McClean continues to catch the eye of Fantasy managers, with his second goal in as many games:

Ramires
Having played wide right in the last week’s win at Wolves, the Brazilian returned to central midfield for the visit of Portsmouth. Ramires continued his goalscoring exploits, though, following up his strike at Molineux with a double as Chelsea chalked up a somewhat flattering 4-0 win. He also provided an assist for Frank Lampard’s fourth. With Daniel Sturridge still sidelined, Juan Mata took up the wide right role this time and grabbed his sixth domestic goal of the season- every one of them have come at the Bridge.

Wayne Rooney
Dimitar Berbatov didn’t even make the subs bench at the Etihad. The Bulgarian’s brief flirtation with the United first XI wasn’t helped by an insipid display at Newcastle in midweek and Rooney, paired with Danny Welbeck, returned to goalscoring ways with a double in the 3-2 win. That’s 6 goals in his last five starts for the United man and with home clashes against Bolton and Stoke in two of the next three gameweeks, Rooney will surely tempt plenty Fantasy managers to hand him the armband for those games as he threatens to return to the consistency of early season.

Paul Scholes
Although United have been struggling for midfield consistency of late, Scholes’ decision to come out of retirement arguably overshadowed the match itself. A major surprise, given he admitted he felt his legs were gone last season but the only significant aspect of his second half sub appearance was his loss of possession that led to City’s second.

Antonio Valencia
The return of Chris Smalling from tonsillitis allowed Valencia the chance to move back into the midfield once again. Having covered at right-back due to United’s on-going injury worries, his threat has been somewhat nullified but Valencia made an immediate impact back in his favoured position, crossing for Rooney to fire the visitors ahead within the ten minute mark. With Jonny Evans recovered and on the bench, it seems Sir Alex Ferguson’s injury worries are easing up, meaning Valencia can be utilised as an attacking talent by the champions once again.

Sergio Aguero
Another home game, another goal for the Argentine as City battled valiantly to save their cup aspirations. Aguero continues his remarkable streak of form at the Etihad- a look at his FPL stats shows he has returned 10 goals, 4 assists and 14 bonus points at home, compared to 4 goals, 1 assist and 3 bonus points on his travels. With Fulham, Blackburn and Bolton visiting City in three of their next four home games, Aguero offers strong opposition to Robin Van Persie for the armband with those fixtures.

Vincent Kompany
The City skipper now faces a four-match ban after picking up his second red card of the season. Kompany received his marching orders with a mere eleven minutes on the board for a two-footed tackle on Nani and will now miss the upcoming league clashes with Wigan and Spurs, in addition to both the club’s Carling Cup semi-final legs against Liverpool. Roberto Mancini admitted post-match that City will appeal, but if the ban stands, it gives Kompany’s Fantasy owners something of a quandary- currently at 6.6, do they hold on until he is next available on 1st February or move him on with their winter wildcards?

Stephane Sessegnon
Having mainly been deployed in a role just off the main forward by both his managers over the season, Sessegnon led the line for Sunderland at Peterborough yesterday. Nicklas Bendtner was nowhere to be seen but despite three recognised forwards on the bench, O’Neill still preferred Sessegnon as his main striker in a 4-5-1. He may have failed to play a part in any of his side’s two goals but O’Neill’s lineup continues to promote the Benin international as a strong out-of-position contender over the months ahead.

James McClean
The Irishman seems to have the backing of O’Neill and once again vindicated his manager’s faith, playing a prominent role in the Black Cats win. Despite the return of Seb Larsson, McClean kept his place in the first XI, with Kieran Richardson handed a role in central midfield. McClean had already caught the eye of Fantasy managers in his previous two league games, picking up maximum bonus both times and netting in the 4-1 win over Wigan. He continued his goalscoring ways yesterday, notching Sunderland’s second, in addition to picking up an assist for Larsson’s free-kick opener. At 4.5, he’s starting to attract investment and if he continues his recent form, could prove an absolute bargain in the second half of the season.

For me he is the only arsenal att/mid player to consider, so I think he is if you like top team coverage...

And if you have had him for a while he would be expensive to get back... Imo

For me, RVP will be the top points scorer in the second half of the season so regardless of price is a must have.

It makes it impossible to drop him when you got him at 11.9 🙂

i have a couple of questions

    1) is it time to cash in on raylor now? has he lost his place as LB and if so will he be a regular in midfield? Hes a good prospect as OOP

    2) Who is a better option Richards or Lescott? Richards has better attacking potential but he tends to miss games through injuries.

I think he may be rotated a bit now. He has competition at RM and Santon seems to be nailing down a place. Cabaye has also proven to be good at free kicks too. Cash in IMO

1- agree with Ryan, get rid now and make a tidy profit, if u want newcastle defenders then there is simpson, williamson and even santon to consider for less

2 - I would go for Richards as Lescott can be rested/rotated too once Toure is back.

I sold sorenson for Mignolet. Mignolet had a higher scoring rate before injured than even schwarzer. Plus Oneill's in has given them a boost.

Innitially I laughed off the notion that McClean is a good FPL prospect. Mainly because Larsson was injured and surely Richardson will play LM most of the time. However I think I may be starting to sway, Richardson could play CM and Sess seems like he will remain up front.

I could get him in for Gower who is out of favor and if it doesn't work out I can WC him out in a few weeks.
    Sound or silly?

can anyone avoiding Fulham or Stoke keepers please explain why. All I hear is they are both rotation risks. This is just not true

Sorensen is Stoke's number 1 now, unless he makes some major errors this will not change, and if it does Begovic is only .2 more and may drop yet as people wc him out.

Schwarzer is Fulham's number 1, if he wasn't Stockdale wouldn't have gone on loan in the first place, and was only recalled AS COVER. In other words when Schwarzer is fit he'll come back in, so if you're wildcarding you can get Stokcdale, just make sure you leave about 0.3 in the bank to switch to Schwarzer.

Let's not forget before his injury Schwarzer was second on the keepers list for points and saves and near the top for clean sheets.

Schwarzer/stockdale isnt a rotation problem, its the fact you will need to make a transfer to switch at some point.

Soreson/Begovic. I think Pulis is willing to be ruthless in switching them, even if he then does give em extended periods in goal. Again thats another necessary transfer.

Sorry for the repost but either it's a terrible question or it was just lost on the previous page:

This isn’t a RMWCT fortunately as I’m yet to use either of mine, but when is the best time to use it now? It’s too late this this gameweek as I’ve lost the chance to make some cash.

    This is my current squad:

    Vorm Ruddy
    Kompany Walker Simpson Brown Jones
    Silva Bale Moses Sinclair Drenthe
    RVP Ba Adebayor

Though I would like Kompany Ba and Drenthe out.

    Any thoughts?

I don't think there's enough cash to be made in any gameweek at this stage of the season to justify that entering your thinking as to when to use it, in the first few GWs you could make perhaps a million, now you'd be lucky to make 0.2 if you're selling on.

I have the money (3.6 in the bank) to upgrade Shotton to Huth/ShawX and upgrade McClean to Sess – would you upgrade or save the money for a rainy day?

    This is my w/c team:

    Vorm/Krul
    Richards/Simpson/Enrique/Senderos/Shotton
    Silva/Valencia/BaleDempsey/McClean
    RVP/Aguerro/Yak

not overly convinced with Rooney, Nani or Sturridge at the moment FB. United are stuttering a little and Rooney seems to be a full of simmering anger at present. Nani seems to have been infected by Young and is drifting out of matches too much lately. Both are proven, quality players and denigration of the two may appear fatuous, both could certainly explode, but United's fixtures are about to become terrible and with question marks hovering over the two players and indeed United in general, I feel the high prices of the palyers could be utilised more effectively...for instance Aguero and Valencia or Dempsey.

Sturridge...Although with Drogba away his place looks assured, he is coming back from injury and hasn’t looked quite the same player in his last few matches and their still appears to be some unrest in the Chelsea camp. Still, he has proven quality and apart from Man United in gameweek 23, his fixtures look appealing...I'm in a similar quandry FB, its him or Yakubu for my last striker's spot

Thanks for incredibly detailed reply! I am more swayed by Valencia atm, he has looked brilliant the past couple games (aside from Newcastle 🙁 ) so I would be happier with him over Nani. It's weird, if Valencia cost a little more I'd feel more confident about having him. As for Sturridge I think his fixtures definitely outweigh Yakubu's, but then again, nothing seems to stop him from scoring....hmmmm.

until this season, Ramires has not been a renowned goalscorer. AVB has employed him as an immobile CDM at times, but he has also had licence to push forward in other matches, in a similar way to Toure at City. He does look dangerous pushing forward and with Chelsea's fixtures looking good, the omens are good for Ramires in the short term IMO. He also offers a budget way in to the Chelsea team and for the price he could well be a good shout
