As a two-week break for the Paddy Power Cup V approaches an end, it’s time to refresh your memory as to where we are with the competition. In Gameweek 19 we had eight fixtures involving 16 fantasy managers, each fighting for a place in the Gameweek 21 Quarter-Finals. Here is how they played out…

1Raasclart4838Mr Bungle
2menders4454CSKA AWFUL
3Natt2651Declan
4Der-Hammer953638Sc8tt26
5soulman274627runty
6ChickenDevil4544Timmy Loving
7VereWinner3441sleepingmaster
8Bruce Baer3145Funkyav

Upset-of-the-round was Der-Hammer95‘s demise at the hands of Sc8tt26. A slender two-point margin put the round’s highest-ranked fantasy manager to the sword.

Closer still was ChickenDevil‘s single point victory over Timmy Loving. In winning 45 – 44, ChickenDevil strung together his 14th green arrow in a row. Given he’s currently nursing only his fourth red arrow of the season in Gameweek 20, he may be quite relieved to still be sitting on a Quarter-Final spot.

Fixture three saw the biggest thumping of the round, as Declan put 25 points on his opponent Natt, who’s score of 26 was the lowest of the bunch.

Declan’s 51 was runner-up in the pursuit of a top-score, as CSKA AWFUL achieved that feat in triumphing 54 – 44 over menders.

Completing the Quarter-Final line-up is Raasclart (who saw off Mr Bungle 48 – 38), soulman27 (going through on the back of a 46 – 27 drubbing of runty), sleepingmaster (in the hat thanks to a 41 – 34 win against VereWinner) and Funkyav (after bettering Bruce Baer 45 – 31).

The eight remaining participants will learn off their Quarter-Final nemeses shortly. For now, commiserations to the eight leaving the competition at this stage.

Walkers off after 60mins with sore big toe nothing serious, Baines bags a pen on 61mins and gets injured during his celebration and is subbed, VDV scores a brace during 70 -80 mins with both assisted by bale, and Drenthe scores with the last kick of the game. Carlsberg don't do........

I got rid 5 weeks ago as I thought others would outscore him, only injuries and Rooney getting dropped/rested really stopped me being right in my choices. He'll no doubt score well, but I don't know if it's really worth me spending £13.2M on him. I don't think there'll be too much of a difference between himself and Aguero, so the extra money can be used elsewhere. I may get him, don't really know in all honesty.

Vorm (ARS) Johnson (wba) Shotton (liv) Ward (tot)

Worth saving the free transfer and playing these muppets? In a bit of trouble if Evans doesn't play, but pretty confident that he will, and you have to assume - with all Everton's injuries - that Drenthe will also start, despite it being an away game. If he doesn't start tonight, then I may have to rethink.

Also, I haven't really thought about captaincy yet. Rooney?

I'm going with that front 3 and captaining Rooney.

Hang on, no! I have Aguero, not Ade. Maybe. Too many As. Also he's not playing Swansea! But Rooney captain.

Yep, I'd save the freebie. I can't see Evans starting, tbh, but Ward and Shotton aren't the worst reserve defenders... maybe lose Evan's for Kelly or Senderos at Blackburn?

      I'd caption Rooney or RVP.

(Ade is playing Wolves btw, along with his team mate, Bale ;-))

Right you are! Must have subconsciously thought that Ade was still at Arsenal. 😉

What do we think to this WC team? Wouldn't mind a Sunderland defender, so I'll monitor if MON continues to play Kilgallon.

    Given, Sorensen
    Richards, Kelly, Smalling, Santon, Enrique
Bale, Sess, Gerrard, Dempsey, Ben Arfa
    Sturridge, Aguero, RVP

    0.2m in the kitty.
