With the elongated Gameweek 20 finally sewn up, it’s time to look ahead to the weekend action. For eight fantasy managers, that means Quarter-Final time in the Paddy Power Cup V. Having battled through eight stages, they are just one win away from the prize-winning games. Here is the line-up…

1Sc8tt26Vs.Funkyav
2DeclanVs.Raasclart
3CSKA AWFULVs.sleepingmaster
4soulman27Vs.ChickenDevil

At the time of writing, first out of the hat Sc8tt26 is the highest-ranked fantasy manager left, and is the only one in the top 1000 overall. If he’s considered the top-seed, then he’s been drawn against the second in Funkyav. Was it not for an abysmal Gameweek 20 score, the tables would be turned and Funkyav would be the man to beat.

Declan faces-off against Raasclart, whilst the last round’s top-scorer, CSKA AWFUL, takes on sleepingmaster. Finally, having reached the Quarters by the skin of his teeth, ChickenDevil comes up against soulman27.

I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing our Quarter-Finalists the best of luck. I’ll bring you the results shortly after the Gameweek has concluded.

    Striker help required...

Currently have Sturridge, Van P, Adebayor.

Keeping Van P, but can't decide on who to bring in from Yakubu, R Keane, Rooney, Aguero.

Aguero plus Agbon (AVL look half decent for a 3 week punt.)

Agbon might not be such a bad punt especially if Everton keep throwing the likes of Vhile Neville out there.

Arsenal & Chelsea are hardly defensive powerhouses and in derby games anything can happen.

Don't have Rooney but it won't stop me worrying about his point scoring ability during those games.

Still Chelsea's last 6 premier league games and no cleansheets, Arsenal's last 6 2 cleannsheets and Liverpool who do have a decent defense have 3 out of 6.

Watching Chelsea play and Arsenal play is painful from a defensive point of view, even when they manage to keep a clean sheet it generally appears to be through the incompetence of the strike force rather than defensive stability.

Maybe I'm wrong and they'll all be low scoring affairs where a lot of nothing occurs. But I wouldn't say Rooney is beyond getting a decent goal and point haul against Chelsea and Arsenal and if I had him would play him with a certain amount of confidence.

of course he's capable, he's wayne rooney. point is he'd be more capable against weaker defences. liverpool, arsenal and chelsea with ivanovic back aren't.
his fixtures are no better than adebayor's

Ok, he's had two 2-pointers in the last 3 gameweeks but did you watch the games? He had 12 shots against Wolves, 5 on target. Could have had a hat trick, honestly. Have to admit I didn't watch the game against Fulham but he had 4 shots, 2 on target in that game. I'm keeping for sure (and captaining every week too).

    Mmmm what to do?

Got Simpson, Silva & Studge all doubts for the next game. Plus on the bench I have Naylor (v Ars), Walters & Shotton (v Pool) who I dont really want to come on in their place.

I could live with one of them out I suppose but if all 3 don’t make the game then I’ve lost some form players with great fixtures and my score will no doubt suffer.

Should I use my WC? Should I take a hit? (0FTs) Should I get out my Roseary beads and pray?

Swansea have been tight at home, so not the end of the world if Taylor comes on, nor with Walters or Shotton at Liverpool who haven't been scoring loads.

If you don't want to play your WC this week then sit tight and stick to your original plan.

Maybe I'll hold out and just hope at least Studge and Simp make it. Then hope Walters scores a peno.

No reason. Fixtures are good as well. Sturridge, Yak and RVP is a good forward line IMO

        hmmmmm.

drop Aguero, feed The Yak and buy myself a nice little differential (in terms of the big hitters in my mini-league)....

Aguero hat-trick last time he played Wigan and Rooney hat-trick last time he played Bolton.

    Let's hope history repeats itself!

I suppose Rooney is the obvious captain.

A repeat of the Rooney's hat-trick against Arsenal last time round in the following game would go down well too. 🙂

That's true, but you'd still back him to score at least 1 against Wigan. I suppose this confirms my captain as Rooney!

Anyone else going heavy up front with their WC for this week (Roo, Kun, RvP)? I think it's the best way to pick up lots of points over the next few weeks and then possibly downgrade Rooney after STO (depending on how well he does), to re-address the balance with the rest of the squad.

I'm going for the Roo this weekend he's sorted out his spat and now he'll tear boltona new one

I've also gone midfield crazy with my Wildcard, scarificing all sense for RVDV, Bale, Mata, Sess, & Gerrard

+ Bale is doing well and Sess is currently in his best form ever.

VdV might be ok if he stays fit.

        - Mata and Gerrard are terrible value for money.

More changes to my WC team than you can poke a stick at...

    Getting there though...

    How about:

    Ruddy/Vorm
    Evans/N Taylor/Williamson/Richards/Enrique
    Gerrard/Silva/Nani/Bale/Moses
    Ade/Yak/RVP

I have 1.9 in the bank. Can upgrade Yak to Ba when he is back or Ade to Aguero with a bit of a shuffle (but I need .2 more)

    Comments please...
