Alexis Sanchez will sit out Arsenal’s season opener against Leicester City, but Mesut Ozil is expected to be available. Gareth McAuley is sidelined for West Bromwich Albion’s trip to Bournemouth, who are missing Junior Stanislas. Meanwhile, Cedric Soares’ fitness will be monitored as Southampton prepare to host Swansea City.

Arsene Wenger will be without the suspended Laurent Koscielny for tonight’s home clash against Leicester City, while Alexis Sanchez is also absent due to an abdominal injury.

There are also a number of doubts, including Mesut Ozil (ankle), Aaron Ramsey (calf), and Shkodran Mustafi (lack of match fitness), though Ozil confirmed he returned to full training yesterday and appears to have a good chance of starting.

Leicester City trio Robert Huth (ankle), Danny Drinkwater (thigh), Vicente Iborra (groin) will all miss the trip to the Emirates. Kelechi Iheanacho has shaken off a minor toe problem, though, while Islam Slimani is also available after recovering from a gashed leg.

Gareth McAuley (thigh) and James Morrison (knee) will both miss the visit of Bournemouth to the Hawthorns, but Jonny Evans (hamstring), Nacer Chadli (hip), Chris Brunt (calf) should be available.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe revealed that Junior Stanislas is out for out to a month due to a groin injury. Steve Cook and Jermain Defoe are expected to be contention for the visitors.

Troy Deeney is a doubt for Watford’s home encounter against Liverpool, having only been able to take a limited part in training prior to today due to a groin problem.

Ross Barkley (groin) and James McCarthy (knee) will both miss Everton’s home meeting with Stoke City, though Wayne Rooney will start for the Toffees, manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed.

Earlier this morning, Stoke City manager Mark Hughes confirmed that he hopes to have defender Bruno Martins Indi on board in time for the Goodison trip.

Virgil van Dijk is unavailable for Southampton’s home encounter with Swansea due to illness. Meanwhile, the fitness of right-back Cedric Soares will be monitored after he arrived back late for pre-season due to international duties with Portugal.

Tammy Abraham looks set to be available for Swansea City’s trip to St Mary’s following a minor groin issue but fellow frontman Fernando Llorente misses out with an arm complaint.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this evening’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Pellegrino added that there are no major injury concerns ahead of the visit of Paul Clement's Swans team, although players such as Cédric, who arrived late in pre-season due to his Confederations Cup involvement, will be monitored.
The Saints boss also confirmed that Virgil van Dijk would not be available for the match.

Klopp just said he will start with a no. 9 vs Watford. Does this mean a start for Solanke or Origi, or does he now consider Firmino a no. 9?

Final RMT, remove any lingering doubts from my head please.

    Foster

    Cedric Kola BDavies

    Fab Iwobi Willian KDB

    Kane Firmino Lukaku

    Elliot/Carroll/Tomkins/Hune.....

Iwobi a short term option and hoping that Cedric plays but Tomkins a, hopefully, decent sub if not.

Keep on looking at it and thinking it should have more Dele Alli but would have to be at the expense of probably KDB and then I have no City coverage......

If Cedric is playing, it's 9.5/10 team to me. Only weak point is Foster, and maybe Fab and Willian gametime in coming weeks imo.

Looks good. Only player that stands out to maybe swap is Matic. But if you've got nothing in the bank it's tricky to know who for without downgrading your Danilo/PVA spot to a 5.0

          Matic to Atsu?

Still undecided on PVA and Danilo
Danilo may lose his place once Mendy returns, but could keep it if plays well.
PVA has PL experience and is known to bomb forward and grab a goal or 2.
          It's a tough one

Unlikely to be 100% accurate but the Guardian rates Arsenal's team to be:

    Cech
    Holding Mert Monreal
    Bellerin Xhaka Elneny Ox
    Iwobi Lacazette Welbeck

As a manager going in with Kolasinac im getting cold feet:

    1. premierglaser

Wish I knew myself. I think it's 50/50. Took 2 in preseason, 1 with Milner on the pitch, but post game conference didn't make it seem like that was the new standard.

    2. Frozen flying mammoth
      • 11 Years
      8 years, 5 months ago

Milner was asked that and he said no, just that Firmino won the pen so he asked him if he was confident and he said yes so he let him take it. Think he wouldn't have done that if it wasn't preseason. I would say it's possible but as things stand if Milner is on the pitch he'll take them, his record is very strong, would be surprised if Firmino takes them over Milner this season when Milner is on.

What do you think of my FPL draft team? Was 5th pick out of 8...other teams don't look well balanced with many teams picking for me having one or two more premium players but the rest of the squad poor

    Cech, Forster
Cedric, Monreal, Van Aanholt, Matip, Daniels
    Willian, Zaha, Phillips, Ritchie, Antonio
    Jesus, Morata, Vardy

Anyone else thinking Iwobi might be a shout for the first couple of gameweeks? With fitness doubts over Ozil and Sanchez out I'm tempted to start him. Team at the mo:

        DDG (Elliot)
        Kompany Kolasinic Yoshida (Hefele) (Mason)
Willian KDB Ward Prowse Iwobi (Carroll)
        Kane Lukaku Firmino

Midfield looks light - had Salah instead of Iwobi and Solanke instead of Firmino but I think swapping them is the right choice. Also tempted by Matic in as an alternative to Iwobi,
