They're obviously not clear otherwise there wouldn't be so many different opinions about them. Only the players know for sure if they touched the ball or not there's no way you can possibly tell if there was a small touch by just looking at the videos.

they are so clear that's why there has been so many post about it.
I think you are being a bit greedy wanting both, there are people out there with Welbeck who really need the points, think of your fellow managers in their times of need.

To me, if I was watching that game without caring about FPL or never discovered this site, I wouldn't even think twice about them being Rooneys assists.

All these slow motion replays and people studying them frame by frame just shows how ridiculous it is.

BBC website round up of the game attributes the Scholes goal to a Rooney assist, but that Wheater got a touch on the other...

'Scholes, 37, had been relatively quiet up until that point on his first start since 22 May 2011, save for a whack on Mark Davies, but he was lurking at the back post to tuck in Rooney's cross after David Wheater had blocked Nani's centre.'

'While there was a goal between the two sides, it was far from comfortable for United but their fraying nerves held together when Welbeck latched onto Rooney's attempted through ball, although it looked like Wheater got the touch, and poked past Bogdan for his eighth of the season.'

I'm claiming both as I captained him lol 🙂

FPL can't win really. I've said it many times, but I've no doubt the reason they changed the baps system (and assist too) would've been due to the number of idiots that sent them ranting emails every single GW about how wrong they thought FPL were. So they changed it to pure stats so there's nothing now to argue against, stats are stats.

I'd love it to change back as I thought there was nothing wrong with the old system. People moaned but the best players did usually get the baps. But I doubt it will actually change again.

This system would be better if they disclosed the calculation for the PPI. If we knew why Vorm never got BPs for saving a penalty and why Carroll got 1 BP for doing F all I would be a great deal happier with it. At the moment it just seems random.

I also like it overall. Only thing I'd change is the negative pts for a shot off target. To me a player that piles loads of balls at goal is more likely to score.

I agree that it can also show a lack of accuracy, but for an attacking player who is threatening on goal to get a worse PPI than an attacking player who is not makes no sense.

I hope they change it next year to ensure at least shots off target get nothing.

And to me, a shot that hits the post or crossbar shouldn't count as a shot off target. A screaming free kick from 30 yards out that belts the post shouldn't count as a negative.

While I agree that it's pretty harsh, a shot that hits the woodwork IS a shot off target. Such is the definition of shots on/off target

I'd choose the new bps system over the old one. Yup, I agree with you on the BP judges likings which sometimes can be biased in a way and will be argued by FPL players a thousand times but with the new bps system, can't really argue about it. It's just at is it, the stats.

well what a shocking week, if Richards plays tonight my main rival will have overturned a 28 point deficit in 1 week.

    anyway onwards

    Senderos and Evans

    or

Kelly and BAE (or another defender for 5.3 or less)

other defenders would be Richards, Skrtel and either Raylor (if he continues OOP) or Santon, keepers would be Sorensen and Stockdale/Schwarzer

May I send my heartfelt thanks to AVB for not bringing on Sturridge for a 1 minute cameo. Mr Ryan Taylor is in the perfect position to come on and replace him. I've had more points on my bench than on the pitch in recent weeks, so this little break is very welcome.

If only Rooney got that penalty, would have meant 3bp for sure and a total of 26pts as captain. Quite a different story to 0. I bet people will kneejerk him out if the assists don't stand

He has still been in bad form, Moses or Suarez 'could have been' amongst the top scorers if they had shot a little closer or got a little luckier...
There is a lot of 'could have been's' in this game, but the fact is, he has failed to perform to his price lately, regardless of what 'could have been'
Even if the assists stay, 6 points at home to the current worst team in the league is hardly something to be happy about really.

First draft of wildcard team, what do you think?

    Vorm, Mingolet
    Kompany, Williamson, Senderos, Simpson, Wilkinson
    Valencia, Dempsey, Silva, Bale, Dyer
    Aguero, Van Persie, Sturridge

A bit weak at the back i know, but i like the rest of it, and most of those defenders have good fixtures for a while. Could put Evans in instead of one of Williamson or Senderos. Really don’t fancy Manu Utd’s fixtures though. Any other ideas?

While this Rooney assist thing has turned into farcical Rooney owners v non-Rooney owners debate, I dare say that the non-Rooney owners have generally behaved in a more objective, less childish manner than the Rooney owners.

I'm a Pool fan and I wouldn't go with Carroll. He's playing like a donkey atm and we all know very well that donkeys don't either score or assist (well, maybe get some random baps).

You can go with Morison, Fletcher at much low prices and save yourself a few million quids to invest elsewhere.

hes still getting the shots on and Gerrard seems to be getting some decent crosses in unlike any other LIV player, he could have a positive affect on him.

Not many strikers are available in that bracket. Sturridge is a good option but was not picked last game despite being fit. Odemwingie is also an alternative but WBA don't score enough goals. I think you're left with Carroll really.

Tis looking Bale on the bench then

I'll wait and see how shaky or solid City look tonight, but I thought Spurs offered bugga all going forward against Wolves.

Esp Ade, who I am delighted to have cashed in for Aguero. At least Aguero looks like he's bothered and doesn't spend half the game grinning like a loon every time he misplaces a pass, or shoots into the side netting.

As for the City defence, fair point Jack, but Richards / Lescott with De Jong ahead of them is not shabby either.

    Ok WC draft 2.

    Please rip it into pieces..

    Vorm/ al Habsi
    Evans/ Richards/ gabiddon/Simpson/ Kelly (fulham)
    Ramires/ silva/ Valencia/ bale/ Sess
    Aguero/ VP/ sturridge..

What you guys think? Defense too weak? GK need to be better?

    All comments welcomed…

      dont like GK combo
need 1 more defender with a little more attacking potential
sessegnon/ramires too expensive to bench regularly IMO

can someone talk me out of replacing Nani with Valencia in my WC?

with nani my defence would be Richards, Enrique, Raylor, Kelly, De Laet and Surman 5th mid.

with valencia my defence would be Richards, Enrique, Raylor, Shawcross, Evans and Dyer 5th mid.

damn 2 million goes a long way.

If I was wildcarding I'd most like not have any United coverage at all .Arsenal and Chelsea away in their next three doesn't fill me with confidence. I'd rather have Dempsey.

Anyway I realise that doesn't answer your question. I'd go with Valencia and the strengthed Defence,

evans is my least desired addition, but the idea of a 5th defender being utd seems like a nice luxury.

Nani will still be one of the top scoring midfielders come may.

i agree. the question is, does his point difference between him and valencia get made up for by a much stronger defense? Lets say nani averages 2 ppg more than valencia from here on out. shouldnt i expect 2ppg more from my defence on average with better players and more options, not to mention a better emergency attacking sub?

with Nani my defence would be Richards, Skrtel, Raylor?Santon, Evans/BAE and Senderos/Kelly, 5th mid would be McLean

With Valencia, Verm will replace BAE or Senderos

I know this probably sounds like a broken record but do the Scouts
    a) Know what time we should know about Rooneygate?
    b) If we will be explicitly told if he keeps both as it wouldn't change anything on the game?

Is Dempsey playing in midfield or still pushed into attack now that Zamora is back in the fold? For me he only warrants £8.5m if he's playing just behind the striker.

Dempsey was the most advanced player in the Fulham side, last match according to average position.

Ok thanks, that's helpful. Pretty much decided on rest of my midfield and the final spot is one I'm debating on out of dempsey, valencia or anyone else for that matter.

Valencia's for the consistency. Dempsey's for a hope of a big haul in his favorable fixtures.

    Which is better?
    A)
    Vorm/Mignolet
    JEvans / Enrique / Santon / Caulker / Kelly
    Dempsy / Bale / Silva / Valencia / McClean
    Aguero / Sturridge / RVP
with 1.6 in the bank to upgrade Enrique to Kompany when he's back

    B)
    Vorm/Mignolet
    JEvans / Enrique / Santon / Richards / Kelly
    Sess / Bale / Silva / Valencia / Dyer
    Aguero / Sturridge / RVP
with 1.1 to upgrade else where ...

Basically what is better to have Dempsy and McClean .. and 1 big defender
or to have Sess and Dyer .. and 2 big defenders..

    Thoughts?
