League leaders Manchester City travel to the DW Stadium tonight, looking to put breathing space between themselves and their city rivals. The Dugout Discussion chatroom opens in anticipation of the conclusion of Gameweek 21.

Both team sheets have been handed in, and here is how they line-up on this horribly cold Monday night…

Wigan XI: Al Habsi, Stam, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa, McArthur, McCarthy, Gomez, Crusat, Rodallega, Moses.

Man City XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Savic, Lescott, Clichy, Milner, Barry, Nasri, Silva, Aguero, Dzeko.

Roberto Martinez continues with Albert Crusat, who manages to shake off a slight back injury to start tonight. James McArthur begins for only the third time in the league this season, replacing Mohamed Diame who is unavailable thanks to the African Cup of Nations.

Manchester City are forced to partner Jolean Lescott and Stefan Savic at centre-back once more, despite a very ropey performance in their defeat to United last weekend. Elsewhere, David Silva is restored to the starting line-up, Sergio Aguero partners Edin Dzeko up front, and Pablo Zabaleta replaces Micah Richards.

Follow all the action in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which can be accessed right here.

Just did Hibbert to Senderos, thanks all for input. However I've just realised Bardsley may well be a better option for the next two, why did no one tell me?! Lol, anyone agree? Just thinking about it, Swans buoyed by recent win and finding scoring form, Norwich score against anyone so...maybe not too bad, will hope for the best.

Captaining Sess is interesting....you really think he will chop up Swans so badly?

Sturridge is obviously the big question mark, as he is for all of us right now.

I think Sess is a very risky captain personally just because Sunderland have a fair few players who can steal his thunder. Larsson, Richardson, Gardner, Vaughan, McClean and even the much maligned Bendy are all capable of upstaging him imo

OK, after above discussions, here is the first WC draft that I have posted, so thoughts appreciated.

        Stockdale (Schwarzer), Sorenson
        Richards, Raylor, Shawcross, Senderos, Caulker
        Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Sessegnon, Moses
        RVP, Torres, Crouch (Ba)

I'm doubling up on the big sto/ful rotation. Was going to treble, but fulham conceding 3 at the weekend and raylor playing in midfield made me change my mind.

I will keep a close eye on torres for the next two, and possibly switch to aguero.

Am chasing a 90 pt lead in my mini league.

        Thoughts?

No to Torres, not even if youre chasing. Pipedreaming with that one. He has had plenty of signs of form during his run of awfulness, but it never comes to anything: you will be disappointed by this.

I wouldn't do the double-double-up if I were you. Gotta get Evans in there for either ShawX or Senderos.

My rotation analysis says that the stk/ful rotation is by far the strongest for the remainder of the season. I know its a bit like putting all my eggs in one (two) baskets, but as i'm chasing, I think its worth the risk. All or nothing type thing. Still might double treble!

I'd chose B. Torres is a sure starter for 90 minutes until Drogba comes back and Mclean is a developing midfielder. Sessegnon is an average midfielder, but may get less points now that Larsson is back and even if Sturridge starts next games there are several options to take him off if he doesn't perform for the Chelsea attack line.

The Sturridge situation just sucks all around. I was all settled on the following Wildcard Team:

        Vorm Schwarzer
        Richards Enrique Evans Caulker Simpson
        Bale Dempsey Silva sess dyer
        Sturridge Aguero RVP

But now, I can't trust Sturridge. If I'm even more honest, if I can't trust Sturridge, I can't trust any Chelsea offense options. I'm not sure I want Crouch, or Leon Best, or Morison for that third strike spot, and I'm starting to think Rooney is getting his groove back. But the only way to get rooney would be to have Mcclean instead of sess and a cheapo defender (probably Shotton or Gabbidon) instead of Enrique.

        Any advice?

Keep Sturridge Newman (Deja vu much?). He'll be back this GW - Ramires is hardly an option at RW for us. If you really think Studge is being dropped (think about it? 9 goals & dropped?), there might be a word about it on Friday from AVB - so keep an eye on that.

Looking good & FFS certified indeed, Newman. 😉

Schwarzer? Not fully fit yet? He's kinda aged & are you alright if he comes back only in GW24?

Might look at Linde Gas + Senderos instead of Evans + Schwarzer. There's more certainty about it. But if you think Evans will hold his place at CB regularly, go for it. I seriously doubt it now that Rafael, Smalling & Jones would be fit & Utd have enough CMs.

Your front 8 looks good. I'd slightly worry about not owning a Utd player, esp. when they're known to hit back hard at this time of the year. I guess its okay to not own any for now, but have a back-up plan in case they hit form. TBH City aren't as attacking as they used to 2 months ago - 4 goals in 4 games. I guess Aguero > Ba & Sess/Dyer > Nani could work in a few weeks time.

I'm in a similar boat with Studge but I trust that he will play next game. He's just come back from injury so I'm sure it was down to that. About your wider concerns over Chelsea- I'd still say that Chelsea are going to be one of the top scoring teams in the league between now and the end of the season, even if they dont get a CL spot and achieve their goals for the season. And Studge will surely play his part in that.

I like your WC team other than a lack of Man Utd, but at least they have poor fixtures to justify that. I squeezed Roon in over Aguero and just left Richards and Silva as City coverage

          BAE - agreed.
Sess - if he can be more self-motivated in all the matches (like in all games so far under MON), he'll slowly turn into a must-have.
Vorm is just SuperVorm. But people are onboard the SuperKrul too, so not much to lose there I guess.

I'm getting sick of Nani TBH. I'm a Utd fan and I've owned him for yonks now and have been watching him closely in the games and frankly he's been crap since mid-december. He needs a rest and to sort his head out. I'm happy to lose him right now and bring in Rooney instead.

I want Valencia but I really fancy Dempsey as a bit of a differential in my mini-league and due to his fixtures. If it doesnt work out then I'll switch to Valencia (who admittedly is looking great these days)

Good looking team Gaffer, I'd be hesitant about dumping Vorm - whilst he has a tough run of fixtures he's still the hgihest scoring GK and will keep cleanies at home more often than not. Midfield is strong and rotates well, and well your front 3 are the same as most people's for good reason so stick with it and be patient with Rooney and Studge-bum. All the best!

I like it, expect I like Aguero over Rooney due to fixtures.

I too am getting rid of nani, BAE, and Ade this week, so no shame there. Vorm I will keep because I love his rotation with Schwarzer, when fit.

Your midfield rules. I am going with Sess instead of Walters, but only for two weeks.

That said, Mcclean is very tempting. I just can't pick him over Dyer, though.

I'm going to get rid on my wildcard. Pardew has been bigging him up since the QPR game, and hinting that he will get more games, BUT we are away the next two, so I would be very surprised if he starts. I would definitely get Sess for the next two (SWA, NOR), then review. Be aware though, that I captained barfa at the weekend, so i might be bitter!

I like Richards anyway personally. If it werent for injuries and some bad luck in front of goal he'd easily be the top scoring defender. His bursts into the box are becoming legendary (feel sick saying that as a Man Utd fan). Especially liked the one where he rinsed Johnson with no skill or faints, just brute force and pace......anyway I'm rambling now.......Richards

For anybody wild carding in preparation for GW24 the Ful/New rotation is almost as strong as my much trumpeted Ful/ Stk, and gives a wealth of budget options in the Newcastle defence (Santon is an absolute bargain). So if wildcarding this week, I would suggest Ful/ Stk, if wildcarding later, probably Ful/ New.

This time last season, I wildcarded and put Tevez (as captain) in my team as my main rival didn't have him.

He went on to miss about 10 chances in the following game, then missed a penalty and went off injured. This was followed by 3-4 weeks of frustration in which I ended up giving up for the season because I was getting too angry!

This time, I wildcarded and put Rooney for the some reason, captained him - he went on and missed a penalty and a few easy chances. So if last year is anything to go by, my advice would be to do the opposite of what I'm doing this week.

Saying that, I'm captaining Rooney again this Gameweek and leaving Bale on the bench

Don't leave Bale on the Bench for the love of god. He's been quality recently and is literally unplayable on his day. Plus he's been given a more attacking role and is involved in all of Spurs goals right now.

Don't forget this is not the same City team either without Kompany and Yaya. They even struggled to beat Wigan.

            Sess/Walters/Valencia/Bale/VDV
            Sturridge/RVP/Rooney

I was going to do VDV-> Silva and play him but I could also just bench VDV and let Bale play (and hope he outscores Silva)

Bench Walters and play Bale, West Brom have been a little harder to score against recently and Bale could go nuts against a B-grade Man City backline.
