The Gameweek concludes at the London Stadium where West Ham are treated to their first home game of the campaign against Huddersfield Town.

At the start of the season, this appeared to be a fixture which would have seen us back the Hammers’ assets for returns. Three games in and the outlook is very different.

The Terriers turn up undefeated and with no goals conceded. That form has seen the likes of goalkeeper Jonas Lossl and defender Zanka pick up 8.4% and 10.4% ownership respectively. Meanwhile, playmaker Aaron Mooy is backed by 12.9% having produced a goal and an assist to this point.

But West Ham have the best-supported player on show tonight.

Chicharito is part of 1.4 million squads and is backed by 159,000+ (3.3%) with the captaincy.

Significantly, he’ll be supported by Andy Carroll in the West Ham attack, in what appears to be a 3-5-2 set-up deployed by the under pressure Slaven Bilic.

Joe Hart is the next best owned West Ham asset in action, although 71% of his 500,000 owners have chosen to bench him ahead of tonight’s clash.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Thoughts on this WC draft

    Ederson, Elliot
    Mendy, Davies, Jones, Simpson, Mbemba
    Eriksen, Mkhitaryan, Moting, Gross, Carrol
    Kane, Lukaku, Vardy

Will wait for Eriksen news obviously

Stop scaring me I own Eriksen 🙂

Looks ok why you would want Ederson at 5.5 is beyond me. Sorry I don't get it. Get a 4.5 in.
And a pool mid for Mkhi?
Then for a Lukaku and Kane team it look pretty good .
And with the mil or so saved you could go Alonso over Mendy.
I don't like City defence you obviously do 🙂

Tempted to take a risk and sell Kaku for Jesus / Aguero. Those Manc fixtures looks full of goals.

Maybe Lukaku & Antonio for Jesus & Pogba?

Lukaku has the ability to score every game. Is it necessary for him to score more than a goal a game is it?

Lukaku will score lots. He costs a bit too. I don't think a Kane and Kaku team will work due to the sacrifices required for the rest of the team. Therefore one has to go and that is Kaku not Kane.

If Jesus gets the minutes I like it. That's the only concern. Kaku to vardy or firmino allows really big upgrades elsewhere.

Target men can be great. See Benteke in his villa days, or Carroll at Newcastle. Granted burnley aren't a team that will create much for their target man eh

Cheap striker spot a real issue. I was all set to remove the hopeless Gabbiadini, but when I look around I dont see much better in the price range. May give him one more week as they do have Palace yet and none of the alternatives have that good a fixture.
Was going to go Chicharito but after last nights performance he crossed off list. Think would even prefer Carroll

I need to get rid of mane this week too so makes the decision easier. May do mane to Mky (already have pogba) and then gabbi to vardy/firm

Dunno what you expect from 6.5 players but wood should keep doing well for that price range. He is a clinical finisher, something reading stat tables won't show.

Am I missing something or are some people overhyping Man City's fixtures? The next 3 look harder than United's.

    City - WAT(A) CRY(H) CHE(A)
    United - EVE(H) SOU(A) CRY(H)

Both have Palace at home, so that's ruled out. Watford have slightly better defending stats than Everton, so could be a harder game. The only other one is Chelsea away vs Southampton away and that's a no-brainer.

After a decent start to the season, I feel like selling Willian to Chalobah, giving me three 4.5 mids.

Would give me 4 premium defenders, 3 premium fwds, and 2 premium mids. I'll pick 1 cheap to start out of 5 every week (3 mids + 2 defs).

    Crazy? If so, why?

      I started with 523
      Did a WC to 433
      And really considering 532 now.

A 532 can give you this 11 with 4.5 mids and forward

      Foster

      Alonso Davies Kola Jones Cedric

      Eriksen Cout

      Kane Morata Vardy

No utd or city attack might be a problem 🙂

Cheers, you have three 4.5 mids too? Which ones? And who's your front 3?

I am on Kane, Lukaku, Firmino upfront, and would have to play one of Chalobah, RLC and Carroll or Mee each week.

I like this approach too it would allow Jesus over Vardy for an insane back 4 and front 3. If you got lucky with the 4.5 mid it's gold.

The 4 at the back is more flexible - like it.

I've been tinkering today with my 2FT and come up with this.

    Mane/Hernandez/Lukaku âž¡ Salah/Vardy/Jesus or Morata -4

    Thoughts

Vardy fixtures look ideal and Jesus/Morata surely Jesus/Morata and Vardy outscore Lukaku and Hernandez?

Looks good assuming you see one of Vardy/Jesus as a solid captaincy choice when you're not relying on Kane.

I'd get someone more nailed than Mbemba

Got him more as bench fodder. Hoping he starts this gw as all the rest have tougher fixtures

Dam didn't realize that. Still ok tho, 4m bench fodder. Have to decide between starting one of mee, carroll or chalobah this gw

    Knobbs of the week:
Steve Parish as much as I like him was a dick to sign De Boer and a bigger one to sack him. Followed up by taking on a dinosaur to replace him.
Skysports for using 20% of their airtime showing the Mane incident. Never been so bored with football!

Anyone trying or ever tried building a squad that deliberately includes one 'floating' position where you have, for example, 6.5 to spend on a midfielder each GW and you're happy to constantly rotate that one spot for form / fixtures?

There's so much RMT action, but planned constant transfer rotation for one position doesn't seem to come up too often. With the 5.5 - 6.5 mids being a bit of a lottery, I'm strongly considering doing this and treating my 4th mid like a calculated gamble every week rather than backing one player for any real stretch of fixtures. Of course it means being happy to let the rest of your team ride their highs and lows.

So I'd be rotating mids like Chupo, Jese, Richarlison, Brady, Knockaert, Ritchie and anyone else who stands out in particular GW. The player transferred in would almost always have a decent home fixture, be nailed on, and be in form or appear due to deliver based on recent stats.

Zero loyalty and hope over the course of the season to get the timing right often enough to score higher than you would if picking and sticking. Leaving myself 6.5 (or at least 6.2) also means price changes don't matter, as all the mids that fit the strategy will be below this figure for quite awhile yet.

    Thoughts?

An argument for 4 at the back. more value and less risk than a 6.5 mid.

I already have Alonso, Kola, Davies and loving it. Holgate too who I think will be almost nailed on soon for Everton's great run. Can easily play 4 at the back if I want to. But this is more about trying to catch the explosive week from attacking mids, not just rotating a couple of 4.5 defenders - that's a legit strategy, but I can still rotate 4.5 defenders anyway. I just feel this is a more positive move with big upside, despite the risks. Call me crazy, I also think it would be a fun way to play.

Will be interesting track how it would have worked out (assuming I don't try it). I'll make the transfer in my head each GW just to know how well the gambles would have paid off. Might help me reach the conclusion never to do it for real!

We have all thought we have "cracked an idea" but seldom works. There are 30 low priced mids in the game and if 2 succeed it is a surprise. A (mahrez king) etc will come to the for eventually

"hope over the course of the season to get the timing right"

This is the crux of it. If you can trust your judgement and timing, well worth it. The same logic can be applied to the 3rd forward.

I have never got that aspect right, always feels like chasing points. I prefer the 4 at the back approach instead - thanks to the wingbacks in PL & you can count on a team's defensive form for a few weeks at a time atleast.

Agreed but the difference is I don't rate the options available for 3rd forward. It's heavy hitter, Firmino, Chica, cheapies, and not much room to move around the same price. There are plenty of mids in the right price range to consider, which is key to the strategy.

However in midfield you really could just spend your 6.5 freely every week, never worry about price changes, and have a nailed on started playing at home against a non-top team. Every single week.

Should mention, part of this strategy also means having a full playing squad to choose from so the odd injury or rotation elsewhere in the team isn't a major problem.

Team could look like the below. This is only a few players different to my actual team at the moment.

      Elliot (Krul)
      Alonso - Bavies - Kolasinac - (Holgate - 4.5)
      Pogba - Mkhitaryan - Salah - 6.5 rotating (RLC)
      Kane(C) - Jesus - Joselu

Realistically, you would be relying on changing the 3rd FWD spot regularly as well. I would get the 4th premium defender @ 6/6.5 and play 4-3-3 so you only have to find the next good fwd and not two positions.
