As we all know too well, the world of Fantasy football can be a fickle one. Within the space of a Gameweek or two, a must-have acquisition can quickly become dispensable in our quest for the latest man in form.

But patience, as our mothers dutifully instilled in us, is a virtue. And over the course of a long and tumultuous season, it could well be rewarded.

Arguably, nowhere is this erratic ownership cycle more prominent than in the recent case of David Silva.

The Manchester City playmaker, whose ownership ballooned from 160,000 to almost 1.5 million over the course of the first nine Gameweeks, has since found himself shunned. Almost 100,000 owners have parted company as of last weekend, earning him the ignominy of being the week’s most-sold player in Fantasy Premier League.

The appeal of Silva, in theory at least, is twofold.

The reliability of his pitch-time (he has started every Premier League match, playing 870 of a potential 900 minutes to date) has combined with the consistency of his point returns (attacking points in 50% of his matches, including two double-figure hauls) and a fondness for bonus points (an average of 15 baseline BPS per week).

Are managers right to jettison Silva at this juncture? Or is the case of an itchy trigger finger leading us down a dangerous path?

This week’s Technical Area will dive into Silva’s recent performances in order to determine the appropriate strategy for his still-numerous manager base moving forward.

Neymar was an absolute phenom at 19-20. Meanwhile Rashford can barely run without leaving the ball behind him

I don't understand this. Neymar's talent was there for all to see. Being in Brazilian league only inflates his goals tally not his finishing, awareness and skills.

Can only predict the future based on current information. No one has a crystal ball to tell whether he'll be like Bale. At current time he's nowhere near Neymar when he was 18.

My other two cents - making 4 cents spent today:

England call up too many players. Great for Tammy, great for RLC, but it seems as if the strategy is to keep drafting young players until one of them turns out to do an amazing job and the manager strikes it lucky.

There is so much to be said for cultivating a group of players and them learning to play together, rather than this constant cycle of players who are tried out a couple of times and then left on the scrapheap. I would argue that, sure, switch out the odd player with similar play-styles but ultimately we should keep the team the same even if a player emerges who looks as if he will be slightly better in a given position.

It's no surprise that weaker nations with smaller squads consistently play above their level, often causing England problems - because they have all grown up together and know each other's game. And this is the format that has served Germany so well over recent years.

Think I agree with that, I just swapped Jesus for Sane so I now have Sterling, Aguero, Sane. I believe this to be pep's strongest front 3.

Even with the Jesus omission I think Jesus will come off the bench, even if he starts it will be in sane's place and they will sub on 60 mins. International break next so no need to save energy.

        hard one that.

Probably A (as the more expensive option is at least nailed on)

When Pogba returns, do you think he'll match/get close to Lukaku? Will be much easier to get him in

He doesn't need to match him but he'll be better value. Depends if you would captain lukaku/pogba much.
