No jones injured. Sterling might play but a start is unlikely given he played full match last night. Not worried as he scores from the bench anyway. And he might start ahead of b.Silva

Assume that the Aguero move enables the rest, obviously if you don’t need to sell Aguero to get Pogba and Otamendi then don’t. Unlikely though.

Personally I would because you still have Sane and Pogba price will go through the roof once the rice freeze is lifted. Wilson has great fixtures and you can redistribute funds elsewhere. Pity about Ward this weekend but you might get lucky with an unlikely Burnley shut out v Arsenal

Stats wise Silva is better in goal threat but awful goal conversion. Sane is slightly better in assist potential and is more often in the box.

Yeah, with Pep giving us hint about Mendy/Sane/Delph roles I am tempted to make the switch, even with 0.6 difference. I was so frustrated watching Silva missing all big chances in last 2 GWs. He should have scored at least 2 goals

Are Morata’s numbers a bit worrying? Will he be more involved eventually? Is Hazard simply a better pick, despite the fact that there’s much more competition for the midfield spots?

Before reading this article, Morata was the only forward in the game I felt certain about having at this stage. Now there’s basically none. What’s the ideal front three? If I knew Agüero would be starting at least two out of three, he would be an easy pick. Could he still be a decent if only he starts half the matches or so?

    1. Greenbackbøøg…

Those xG figures can be deceptive if a player scores a lot of goals with his head, since headed goal attempts are expected to miss most of the time. Having said that, I'm still not convinced Morata is a natural goalscorer with his feet. And since Conte seems to think he can't play two games every week I suspect his minutes on the pitch will be limited between now and January.

That’s a good point. I guess that part of the story is that he’s just a good header. I haven’t read any of Conte’s comments on managing his game time, but I assume it’s the same story for all the top strikers for the rest of the year. Even Lukaku will get occasional rests now that Ibrahimovic is back. You think now could be a good time to have a player like Vardy who will probably play most of the games coming up?

Yeah, maybe Vardy is worth considering. Personally I'm sticking with Aguero & Jesus up front. If they're rotated they should both be relatively fresh for every game they play, and I think they'll both get 20+ goals this season.

      2. Mick J
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

My guess is that he starts on the bench against Huddersfield, starts against Southampton midweek and is again on the bench against West Ham. I intend to keep for the Southampton match, hoping that he gets something like 30 minutes against Huddersfield, sufficiently to get a goal—and consider selling before West Ham. What’s the ideal front three in your opinion?

    2. Rash
      • 8 Years

Stats and numbers can only take you so far imo. The eye test with morata tells me he's an outstanding option

      1. Mick J
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

That’s great to hear. You think he will eventually get more involved, or is he that type of player that will keep on “over-performing” due to great finishing etc.?

    3. Ha.
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 1 month ago

Admittedly I cannot read the article, but the bottom line is that he is the highest scoring forward and the cheapest of the premiums.

Whether or not this is sustainable remains to be seen, but so far it looks as though he is taking his chances - surely that is what you want?

      1. Mick J
        • 10 Years

Sure, but it’ll be interesting to see if he could keep up going forward. I will not take him out anytime soon at least.

I got Morata in on wildcard last week and he saved me from a Kane blank. My reasoning is his price, he has no competition for his spot (unlike Aguero/Jesus) and the fact that he has scored double figure hauls three times in the 10 games he has properly played, unlike Lukaku who only seems to nick the solitary goal.

      1. Mick J
        • 10 Years

You know I don't think there's an ideal. I've gone with Kane, Morata and Niasse. Aguero + Kane + Niasse/Murray/Abraham would be ideal if Aguero was nailed and Kane wasn't so prone to blanking but since he is...
