Each week we are reviewing the aggregated predictions on Superbru’s Premier League Predictor game, using the collective Wisdom of the Crowd predictions to guide our fantasy football thinking.

Please join the FFS league here and add your own predictions to the data – the more there are, the more accurate the crowd should be (in theory).

GAMEWEEK 17 REVIEW

This time it was Liverpool and Arsenal to provide the upsets, with no goals between them in their respective draws with West Brom and West Ham.  Wins for Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs and Manchester  United were rather more widely anticipated. As was victory over Stoke for high-flying Burnley, who seem to have the backing of the crowd these days.

Here are the Gameweek 17 results in descending order of predictability:

Well done to Andy Ahmed, a Brit in Cambodia, for winning the Yellow Cap in the FFS pool.

Mr Crowd Wisdom – using the aggregated predictions of the crowd – moved up one place again, and remains well above average on page one of the leaderboard.

The aggregated predictions of the community are making better predictions than most individual players in the game, suggesting that there is credibility in the Wisdom of the Crowd concept.

GAMEWEEK 18 PREVIEW

Here is the Expected Goals chart for each fixture in Gameweek 18:

And here is the ranking of teams in order of Expected Goals Scored and Conceded:

Overall, there are fewer goals expected this weekend, so it could be time to start an extra defender.  Adding up the average predicted goals for Gameweek 18 gives us 25.91 total predicted goals – lower than many previous gameweeks, mostly by virtue of Man City playing a top four side.

Chelsea at home to Southampton is expected to yield the most goals for a single team, with Eden Hazard set to be a key captaincy pick for many. Those that kept hold of Alvaro Morata during his injury this week will be sweating on his fitness. If he is available he could be another strong armband option.

Arsenal, Everton, Man United and Chelsea are predicted to keep clean sheets, whilst Leicester, Watford, Burnley and Liverpool should also do well in defence.

Here are the aggregated predictions that we’ll enter into the game for Mr Crowd Wisdom in the FFS pool.

Is there anything that catches your eye in these predictions?

Good luck!

Thanks for this. Hazard (c) seems to have the backing of the crowd.

I am torn between salah (away form and Bournemouth allows a lot of shots) and Hazard for captain ... any thoughts?

Hazard (c) looks most likely for me. Slightly tempted by Vardy but probably won't go through with that. Think a lot will back Salah but I'm worried about rotation.

That's looking the best option for me. Lacazette (c) might be a cheeky punt.
