The community is awash with managers keen to banish a disappointing Gameweek 17 and look ahead to the next set of fixtures.

Still despondent from upsetting midweek events – including another Harry Kane blank – our Hot Topic posters appear to be turning to West Ham assets, among others, to lift their spirits.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are backed to build on their midweek victory in our latest community article, while we drop in on our statisticians recent goal threat revelations.

Our round-up is completed with a look at those riding high at the top of our community competitions.

The Community Articles

Chelsea’s easy passage past Huddersfield Town in midweek has ensured that ‘the crowd’, being tracked by Hutch_James, have full of confidence in Antonio Conte’s men when Newcastle United drop by Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

Meanwhile, earlier this week we posted an article asking for your feedback on the Sky Sports Fantasy game, with Luke Lockwood from the game’s development team collating your thoughts ahead of next season. Be sure to contribute if you’ve been playing this season and have some thoughts on how the game can be improved.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Interest in West Ham assets stepped up this week, ahead of a kind run of fixtures that has David Moyes’ troops travel to Stoke and Bournemouth and host Newcastle.

Pundit of Punts is particularly interested in their defensive assets in his Hot Topic on their budget options.

Hammers players also get a mention in our discussion on the best differentials ahead of Gameweek 18.

To help prepare for the next set of fixtures G-Whizz has shared fellow Hammers’ fan Doosra’s latest clean sheet and goal scoring calculations.

Spurs are among the teams to fare badly in his number crunching. They visit Manchester City on the back of a less than convincing 2-0 win over Brighton at Wembley Stadium in Gameweek 17.

Among the most disappointing aspects of Spurs display was another failed Fantasy performance from Harry Kane, who again drew a blank when faced with ‘easy’ opposition at Wembley. Our ”rough with the smooth” round-up of your Gameweeks was full of disdain for the striker’s unpredictable performances.

As well as sporadic scoring, Applebonkers also raises concerns about Kane’s lack of assists this season. So far he has only set up one goal, while other premium strikers – Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata, Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku and Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus – have all earned four assists.

With a trip to a Burnley side that has only conceded three goals at Turf Moor, Kane’s captaincy potential in Gameweek 19 appears reduced.

And given that Liverpool travel to Arsenal and Chelsea visit a newly resilient Everton, Pundit of Punts believes that a major armband dilemma awaits..

To view all our discussions please visit our Hot Topics page.

The Members Tables

A raft of misfiring heavy-hitters have joined my latest goals imminent table update, and could be set for a strong Gameweek 18 based on their recent underlying statistics.

Meanwhile, FPL Virgin has been scouting cheap defenders with goal threat and Doosra’s deadly assassins table details the latest sharp-shooters based on his preference of filtering by the last two Gameweeks.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Az continues to lead the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league with a 15-point advantage over second placed Jack Wain and Heroes and Villians remains top of our FFS Members League and is now up to 31st overall.

Damir Tenay continues to set the pace at the summit of the Fantasy Football Scout main league as well as the overall rankings, as does Mathew Morrison in the Top 1K Any Season and Mick Harris in the FFS Old Farts Club, for our community’s “oldest and wisest” participants.

In QPR UTD’s Frequent Summer Posters competition ZoumasBloomers is another to remain at the top, with myself leading the chasing pack in second.

But it’s all change at the summit of Red Lightning’s Top 10k Any Season mini-league, where Elvar Mar Sigurdsson has regained the lead.

It is also worth mentioning that Red Lightning’s January to May league (757-419) will kick off in Gameweek 22 and is now open for entrants.

Matchweek 11 in the Community Watch tournament produced some nail-biting ties, according to Speedyboyzzzz‘s latest update from the organising committee.

Finally, in TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing, the safety score was 32, which saw 135 players depart and 1346 remain.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups, please email us summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

The Salah or Hazard cpt question is killing me. I know that I'm just gonna go with the wrong one again. Have not had a captain over 10 points since Aguero scored 11 points in gw 6, is killing my rank. Alot of Salah/Kane/Hazard with 2x2 points.

I'm starting him over Austin (who I think won't start either) and Ogbonna, who I don't think will keep a cleanie.

I'd take 20-30 minutes against Swansea.

DCL was shifted out wide to accommodate Niasse one week. Granted, Niasse played 45 minutes of poor football.

Could see them starting both up top, going a little more offensive and taking it to Swansea.

Yes you can. It's just a theoretical question. Given reasonable amount of money.

Have left out Sánchez and KDB because they are price heavy considering their PPG.

For me, I'd like to have something like this:

          Salah, Hazard, Sterling, Silva, Rich/Gross/Shaq.

Think we'll eventually see a shift back to 2-3 8.5+ forwards up top, meaning we'd get away from the power 5 midfield.

      My mids are

      Hazard. Salah. Sterling. KDB. Coutinho.

      Full team:

      DDG.
      Otamendi. Mee. Duffy.
Hazard (c). Salah. Sterling. KDB. Coutinho (vc).
      Kane. DCL.

Nice mids but defence is awful imo. I'd downgrade KDB (though he's a great player and not prone to much rotation) to Silva/Sané and upgrade Duffy/Mariappa and Niasse.

      Mine is atm:

      Salah, Sterling, Hazard, Zaha, Richarlison.

Though I look to do Zaha -> Arnautovic in 1 or 2 weeks. I see no point in getting rid of Richarlison with those fixtures unless he is injured. His time time to shine has just begun.

As I see it the template will be: Salah, Haz, Sterling/Silva + 1 of all those good midfielders out there (take you pick - I will probably go with Arnautovic due to DGW)

      1. Salarrivederci

I can see your point (though your example is far from equal in terms of price 😉 )

As I see it this front 6 is template:

            Salah, Hazard, Sterling/Silva, Richarlison
            Kane, DCL

Atm I have 15,3 for the last 2 spots, but I do own Courtois, Otamendi, Monreal as well.

            My team atm:
            Courtois Speroni
            Otamendi, Monreal, Masuaku, Mariappa, Moreno**
            Salah, Sterling, Hazard, Richarlison, Zaha
            Kane, Firmino, DCL

            1FT

Next week I would like to do Moreno -> 4,3 (saving 0,3 for Speroni -> Adrian), and potentially also do Zaha -> Arnautovic. Then I would like to bank transfers before Spurs/West Ham BGW. Swap Kane before 21 and back in for 22.

I think Masuaku will have better baseline BAPs vs easier teams, with dribbles and crosses etc.

Masuaku took 7 bonus compared to Ogbonna's 2 last season and was incredibly strong in the BPS department.

I think Ogbonna mostly has been taking more BPS than Masuaku due to West Ham parking the bus against Chelsea and Arsenal. You aren't going to see 11 clearances from Ogbonna against Newcastle and WBA.

      1. FantasyFootballSprout
        • 8 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

Very true but Masuaku wasn’t playing in the position he is this season. He loses possession a lot more on that left wing which makes him a bit like Alonso for baps. Generally Centre Backs are always better for baseline bonus than Full/Wing Backs.

Both are good options imo and I went for Ogbonna just because something didn’t feel right about Masuaku. Looking at his history, he’s never nailed down a place anywhere he’s been and that concerns me.

If he goes back to being a backup for Mee and Tarkowski, yep.

I've brought him in as it allowed me to sell my 5th defender (Kiko) + Wilson for Rooney + Long (0.0 ITB). I'd prefer a starting 5th defender obviously, but Long gives me an extra 0.5m to spend elsewhere plus the cushion of a price rise.

    Start 1:

    2) Ogbonna
    3) Austin

Leaning towards 1 (even if he only gets 20-30 minutes), as I don't see WHU keeping Stoke out and Southampton aren't going to have Austin be the one chasing around the ball for 60+ against Chelsea. He's benched imo
