The community is awash with managers keen to banish a disappointing Gameweek 17 and look ahead to the next set of fixtures.

Still despondent from upsetting midweek events – including another Harry Kane blank – our Hot Topic posters appear to be turning to West Ham assets, among others, to lift their spirits.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are backed to build on their midweek victory in our latest community article, while we drop in on our statisticians recent goal threat revelations.

Our round-up is completed with a look at those riding high at the top of our community competitions.

The Community Articles

Chelsea’s easy passage past Huddersfield Town in midweek has ensured that ‘the crowd’, being tracked by Hutch_James, have full of confidence in Antonio Conte’s men when Newcastle United drop by Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

Meanwhile, earlier this week we posted an article asking for your feedback on the Sky Sports Fantasy game, with Luke Lockwood from the game’s development team collating your thoughts ahead of next season. Be sure to contribute if you’ve been playing this season and have some thoughts on how the game can be improved.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Interest in West Ham assets stepped up this week, ahead of a kind run of fixtures that has David Moyes’ troops travel to Stoke and Bournemouth and host Newcastle.

Pundit of Punts is particularly interested in their defensive assets in his Hot Topic on their budget options.

Hammers players also get a mention in our discussion on the best differentials ahead of Gameweek 18.

To help prepare for the next set of fixtures G-Whizz has shared fellow Hammers’ fan Doosra’s latest clean sheet and goal scoring calculations.

Spurs are among the teams to fare badly in his number crunching. They visit Manchester City on the back of a less than convincing 2-0 win over Brighton at Wembley Stadium in Gameweek 17.

Among the most disappointing aspects of Spurs display was another failed Fantasy performance from Harry Kane, who again drew a blank when faced with ‘easy’ opposition at Wembley. Our ”rough with the smooth” round-up of your Gameweeks was full of disdain for the striker’s unpredictable performances.

As well as sporadic scoring, Applebonkers also raises concerns about Kane’s lack of assists this season. So far he has only set up one goal, while other premium strikers – Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata, Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku and Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus – have all earned four assists.

With a trip to a Burnley side that has only conceded three goals at Turf Moor, Kane’s captaincy potential in Gameweek 19 appears reduced.

And given that Liverpool travel to Arsenal and Chelsea visit a newly resilient Everton, Pundit of Punts believes that a major armband dilemma awaits..

To view all our discussions please visit our Hot Topics page.

The Members Tables

A raft of misfiring heavy-hitters have joined my latest goals imminent table update, and could be set for a strong Gameweek 18 based on their recent underlying statistics.

Meanwhile, FPL Virgin has been scouting cheap defenders with goal threat and Doosra’s deadly assassins table details the latest sharp-shooters based on his preference of filtering by the last two Gameweeks.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Az continues to lead the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league with a 15-point advantage over second placed Jack Wain and Heroes and Villians remains top of our FFS Members League and is now up to 31st overall.

Damir Tenay continues to set the pace at the summit of the Fantasy Football Scout main league as well as the overall rankings, as does Mathew Morrison in the Top 1K Any Season and Mick Harris in the FFS Old Farts Club, for our community’s “oldest and wisest” participants.

In QPR UTD’s Frequent Summer Posters competition ZoumasBloomers is another to remain at the top, with myself leading the chasing pack in second.

But it’s all change at the summit of Red Lightning’s Top 10k Any Season mini-league, where Elvar Mar Sigurdsson has regained the lead.

It is also worth mentioning that Red Lightning’s January to May league (757-419) will kick off in Gameweek 22 and is now open for entrants.

Matchweek 11 in the Community Watch tournament produced some nail-biting ties, according to Speedyboyzzzz‘s latest update from the organising committee.

Finally, in TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing, the safety score was 32, which saw 135 players depart and 1346 remain.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups, please email us summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

thinking of A. I think Morata with the rest he's got can be a very good captain choice so owning him is important. But letting Kane go is also a difficult decision

People are very dismissive of Kane out as it uses up precious transfers BUT it could be so lucrative. Get Lacazette this week then Kun/Jesus gw19 (depending on where you want to place your chips on the pep roulette wheel) you get
NEWCASTLE, BOURNEMOUTH, newcastle, palace, then Kane back in gw22.
I get this isn't for everyone but it's certainly got my gamble juices going, especially as there is no standout captain choice in gw 19. Kun c could be so mouthwatering.
Sure Kane could match their scores so it's a punt but at the same time it's hard to see a lot of spurs goals over the next 5gws. The other thing is there are some tasty fixtures in gw21, having almost 13m on the bench could be a huge mistake

Kane is likely to get more or similar game time minutes over the next 4 games to Lacazette, Kun or Jesus ... if you have a decent playing bench then Kane in his blank Gameweek is not the end of the world ....

Kane has blanked in 9 games this season. In the next 5 games he already has 1 blank, might blank 1 or 2 more so that is around 3 blanks in 5. The only thing that is holding me back is if you dont own him and he explodes and many people captain him then your OR is going to suffer.

If you get Kun/Jesus it’s unlikely you’re going to get Bournemouth, Newcastle, palace as they are getting rotated.
You are going to have at least one blank in their which is not worth it

I wish I had the luxury of having no issues in my team to be able to play that game. In either case I trust Kane to get more minutes in that time including the blank than Lacazetter, Kun or Jesus.

minutes aren't the be all and end all. 20 mins of a city striker against tired defeated oppo can be more lucrative than 90 of Kane frying to bypass Burnley and saints busses

Just captain one of their mids (that play as forwards). If you have the perfect team and belive none of your players will be rotated or get injured over the busy schedule - extremely unlikely - then go for it but I see this plan costing you plenty of hits or missing out on other transfers you would be wanting to make

Is anybody else unable to sign free agents in the draft games this GW ?

I will not be happy if this costs me the double over Torres Magic.

Thinking of doubling up on LIV, Salah and Coutinho

    Too much/risky?

BOU so far only conceded avg of 1-2 per game (except ars)

Absolutely not - both are great prospects over the next few weeks. I'd love to find a space (and the money) for Coutinho too.

Well that's good news - in which case he might be a keeper.

    Gomes
    Jones Otamendi Alonso Hegazi Suttner
    Sterlling Salah Richarlinson Zaha Davis(Sou)
    Morata Kane Abraham

Got 0 in the bank. What could be the best possible way to get DDG in the team? He is the raking up those clean sheets and save points all throughout the season.

Why? You could though bench one of your non premium defenders.

I know you guys don't like casual thinking around here but isn't Rooney a good option for 3rd striker? Nailed, on pens and Everton on the up.

Mostly due to a majority of us either having Niasse or DCL as third striker already.

Otherwise Rooney is a very decent option (even as a 2nd forward) which frees up fundage for a stronger midfield.

Something I may consider on wildcard next month if his form continues.
