The penultimate match of Gameweek 20 gets underway at this evening as Newcastle United welcome league leaders Manchester City to St James’ Park.

Up against a defence with just a single clean sheet in 15 attempts, Pep Guardiola’s side boast three of the top ten captains for this round of fixtures.

Significantly Sergio Aguero – their most backed armband pick (6.2%) – is again chosen to lead the line and makes his fourth successive Premier League start. Gabriel Jesus warms the bench yet again, then.

Kevin De Bruyne (4.2%) and Raheem Sterling (3.1%) are also handed starts, though both have some way to go to match Harry Kane’s 17-point haul at home to Southampton yesterday.

Nonetheless, the pair arrive on Tyneside in fine form. De Bruyne has three goals and two assists in City’s previous six, with three sets of 10+ points hauls during that run.

Meanwhile, Sterling – the top target in midfield for Gameweek 20, with over 173,00 new owners – has served up 34 points in three, courtesy of three goals and a trio of assists.

David Silva’s ongoing personal issues means he misses out for the second time in three matches, however, with Ilkay Gundogan partnering De Bruyne in the centre of the park in his absence. Leroy Sane is also on the timber despite his early withdrawal against Bournemouth last time out – he’s now started just four of the last seven Gameweeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Bottomed

Barring no injuries, I should have Lloris, Ogbonna, Alli, Arnie and Kane in the DGW.

    More importantly, no hits.

Mathematically there is no guarantee, obviously.
Assuming a monotonic curve, which goes up with OR, the steeper this curve is, the closer to average you can be.

    5. Epic Fail
      • 15 Years
      8 years, 1 month ago

I would have thought that there's not much difference between top 10k players and top 40k players.

      1. The Big Fella
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

I have had 1 or 2 points above top 10k average before, despite being lower down the table, and still seen a red arrow. I don't assume anything now.

See the reasoning above, it's not difficult. The curve has to be monotonic (higher blocks of positions have higher average, by and large. Apart from the final block of teams, those who entered recently, but we do not care about those). The problem is, it's not always steep, like this week.

          1. The Big Fella
            • 9 Years
            8 years, 1 month ago

Steep being a much higher top 10k average than an overall average you mean? I think it is 55 for the overall average this and about 75 for the top 10k average. I have 95.

    Current team for GW21:

    DDG (Elliot*)
Alonso / Otamendi / Mee (Ogbonna* / Hunimeier*)
    Salah / Sterling / Silva* / Richarlison / Gross
    Morata / DCL (Kane*)

    Option A:
For GW21: Silva → (Lingard? ANY less than 8.7m)
    For GW22: Richarlison, [8.8m] → Arnautovic, Son (-4)

    Option B:
    For GW21: Silva → RLC
For GW22: Richarlison, Gross → Arnautovic, Alli (-4)

    Option C:
For GW21: Save FT; player 10 (or less) players
For GW22: Richarlison, Silva → Arnautovic, Son (Free)

Looks more like at the start of the season where Sane doesn't deserve to be an automatic selection in his line up as he's just not playing well enough.
