The penultimate match of Gameweek 20 gets underway at this evening as Newcastle United welcome league leaders Manchester City to St James’ Park.

Up against a defence with just a single clean sheet in 15 attempts, Pep Guardiola’s side boast three of the top ten captains for this round of fixtures.

Significantly Sergio Aguero – their most backed armband pick (6.2%) – is again chosen to lead the line and makes his fourth successive Premier League start. Gabriel Jesus warms the bench yet again, then.

Kevin De Bruyne (4.2%) and Raheem Sterling (3.1%) are also handed starts, though both have some way to go to match Harry Kane’s 17-point haul at home to Southampton yesterday.

Nonetheless, the pair arrive on Tyneside in fine form. De Bruyne has three goals and two assists in City’s previous six, with three sets of 10+ points hauls during that run.

Meanwhile, Sterling – the top target in midfield for Gameweek 20, with over 173,00 new owners – has served up 34 points in three, courtesy of three goals and a trio of assists.

David Silva’s ongoing personal issues means he misses out for the second time in three matches, however, with Ilkay Gundogan partnering De Bruyne in the centre of the park in his absence. Leroy Sane is also on the timber despite his early withdrawal against Bournemouth last time out – he’s now started just four of the last seven Gameweeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Kane -> Morata(21) -> Kane(22) for free.
Seems like a no brainer if you're not losing much sell value and dont have other major issues.

    Counter viewpoints?

Save ft, to get 2 ft for dgw and bring in eriksen/Alli/arnie/son instead?

You can still bring one of them in with a FT, and a hit in GW22 is effectively -2.

If they play 2 x 60 mins in 48 hours, yes. No guarantees of that whatsoever

Cheers, there are no guarantees for anything in the game. I'd say the probability of Eriksen/Alli playing 60 minutes in two games is very high considering they'll have had their forced rest. High enough to count a hit as -2 for planning.

True if you have 1 FT now I guess.

I have 2 FTs and would have to play Dann in GW21.

Am expecting Ward to be back this week.

Cant think of a Dann replacement with a higher ceiling than Morata. As my 5th defender, I think I can address that later - he's atleast nailed to start.

So, Coutinho v Firmino? Assuming everyone already got Salah.
With Firmino you get one slot more in front 8. There is a lot of choice in midfield for 7 mil and not so much in the front three.
For example, Firmino & 6.5/7 mil can get you:
    Arni/Richarlison/Lanzini/Lingard/Ramsey ( if he's back soon ).
Coutinho and the same amount of money for one forward can get you:
    Depoitre/DCL/ Wilson...
As you can see, much better names and value in midfield imo. Also Firmino getting bps easier assuming both he and Coutinho score the same, and cheaper 0.2 for now.
    What's your thoughts about this?

Ah, sorry I thought you had drifted into the triple up camp as the discussion developed.

But Firmino doesn’t really give you an extra slot, it just means you balance your budget a bit differently or rely on RLC who is actually ticking along quite well

No probs with Firmino and he is great value

Sure is possible, but no ‘extra slot of a better quality’ is a result of this, which is what I am disputing with the OP

I am not disputing a triple up, but the argument was put forward that you can have an ‘extra slot’ but you will alway have 2 budget players in your 8 or you won’t afford Hazard, KDB etc

          1. Kolarov Fpl Legend
            • 11 Years
            8 years, 17 days ago

Extra slot in terms of mid slot v 2/3th forward slot.
The point was that you have better players from mid to choose then from attackers.

            1. Hotdogs for Tea
              • 10 Years
              8 years, 17 days ago

But that is nothing to do with Pool triple up, it is to do with Firmino v Morata/Rooney/Laca, or Coutinho v Mahrez/Silva/Erik/Son/Pogba/Lingard etc

It’s all to do with the value of the player that replaces the third one of your pool assets, and if you select a sub 9 mill alternative you have the same team except for that one player. This governs the extra slot, not the fact that you have 3 pool ... surely you understand that ?

              1. Kolarov Fpl Legend
                • 11 Years
                8 years, 17 days ago

Mate, read the question again. I never mention Liv'pool triple up. The question was is Firmino better choice then Coutinho because Firmino gives you an " extra slot " in midfield because he doesn't occupied midfield slot like Coutinho does. Therefore, you have better choice to choose from midfield. Amongst attackers are slim pickings.

Ah, appologies and sorry I thought you had drifted into the triple up camp as the discussion developed.

No probs with Firmino and he is still great value (even better if you had him a while ago) and frees up cash, but I had Morata at 10.2 which is not far off and gives the same options.

Firmino was hopeless earlier in the season and blanked six games on the trot ... who knows, he may well have a similar run again, but a great choice nevertheless going forward ... subject to rotation with Sturridge fit again soon, Solanke getting game time especially when the CL starts up again

In answer to your question - Cout v Firm - I would go Firm and hope he gets the minutes.

Little help here ,leaving the DGW aside

    A) hazard+DCL+ Richa to son+firmino+Arnie

    B) hazard+ Pogba+DCL+Richa to son+firmino+ Lingard+ mahrez

Already have Salah so Coutinho would make triple up that I don't want, also mahrez is consistent but lesser owned so can play a differential.

Morning gents. Currently 337 OR so
Absolutely flying. Would you save FT this week and bench Kane with 0.0m in bank?

    Courtois
    Otamendi Jones Kenny Naughton
Salah (c) Coutinho Sterling Haz RLC
    Firmino

    Elliot Mbemba McBurnie Kane

Other option would be to transfer Naughton out for a better 4.5m option but I’m not sure it’s worh it ?

Other than Arsenal, 6 of Chelsea's next 7 are brilliant. Christi could still be good value. Thing with Alonso is he's so far forward. And he gets so many chances. Could've easily had 3 against Brighton.

Morning! Can I get some feedback on this?

Coutinho and Fernadez -> Alonso and Lingard (for free)

    Current team

    DDG, Elliot
    Fernadez, Mee, Duffy, Otamendi, Kenny
    Coutinho, Salah, Hazard, Richarlison, Sterling
    Kane, Austin, DCL

I know Austin is the bigger problem but wasn't plannig on playing him and don't really like the other -6.0 striker options. Also don't think I'm going to go big on this DGW cause it seems like a short term move but don't know for sure.

    Thoughts? Stupid move?

Just realised even if Spurs win each game 1 nil, if Kane scores both goals it is still 18 points from him. Strongly, strongly considering a triple captain.

That's always the risk. But this is going to be one of the most prime fixtures for a triple captain all season, no doubt about it. Besides, Kane is one of the only players you know will play both games in any DGW.

        1. Carpe Diem
          • 9 Years
          8 years, 18 days ago

I'm triple captaining him, just that Kane getting 18 points with a goal in 1-0s is untrue, and quite unlikely.
