Our Fantasy Football Scout Cup contests are edging closer to their nailbiting conclusion with just 32 teams remaining in both.

In the fifth round of the open to all Fantasy Football Scout Cup three of our four remaining previous winners Mark, Ninja Fit Saints and Gribude made it through the next stage. However, Sleepysi misses out on the chance to become the first manager to win the cup twice, with his score of 88 not enough to overcome David Slade’s impressive 102 point haul.

Mark, who is placed at 19,657 in the overall standings, notched the same score as Sleepysi, but in his case it proved to be more than enough to earn a giant killing victory over 1,307 ranked FPL Poker Player’s Kane-less side. This former winner faces another highly placed manager in the next round when he squares up to 3,427 ranked ezdmanx.

Ninja Fit Saints also has a tough tie, as he has been matched against POLSTER, who is ranked more than 152,000 places above him. In contrast Gribude is just 3,656 places behind his round sixth opponent Hamadahoda007.

The Scoutcast’s Az marches on and takes his 1,293 ranked team into a sixth round tie with 7,778 placed You, Me and Firmino.

Meanwhile, former FPL winner Tom Fenley also makes it through and earns an encounter with Icepickle, who is ranked just 1,120 places above him.

The competition’s only two remaining top 1,000 placed managers United Come On (ranked 943) and FFScout Members league leader Elvarus (ranked 115) have drawn each other in a heavyweight round six encounter.

The results from the Fantasy Football Scout fifth round can be found here, while the draw for the sixth round – played out over Gameweek 21 – is here.

In the Members Cup the last remaining FFScout staffer, Mark, was seen off by John Nerdelbaum, who hopes to claim kwapsy as his next scalp in round five.

This contest’s only remaining top 2,000 ranked manager Fozilla28 (1,740th) will now clash with 36,088 placed Cheeseoid, while the encounter between Gnu and Spike looks even tougher to call, with the former just 7,102 places above his fellow FFS community veteran.

You can view the full results from the fourth round of Members Cup can be found here, while the draw for the fifth round – also played out over Gameweek 21 – is here.

Due to the tightly congested fixture list both cup contests will be taking a break during Gameweek 22 and will resume in Gameweek 23.

Gonna be a lot of hits next GW with so many selling Kane unless people are comfortable going with only 2 or 3 DGWers.

For the double? Eriksen, Alli, Son, Arnautovic/Lanzini, Vertonghen, Lloris/Adrian and Ogbonna/Masuaku look worthy of investment.

          Are you mad?

At the expense of players like DDG, Alonso, Otamendi, Salah, Sterling, De Bruyne?

Think people are getting far too carried away.

Alonso should be after Sterling and Salah in terms of essentialness.

Look at how he plays, he's essentially an inside forward on some direct free kicks for Chelsea and picks up clean sheet points.

Compare his points per mill for anyone in that price range.

    Final WC team. Thoughts?
    Pickford
    Alonso, Otamendi, Mee, Dunk
    Sterling, Salah, lingard
    Morata (c), Firmino, Quaner

    Subs Adrian, Ogbonna, Arnautovic, Son

Money in the bank to bring Kane in for Morata for DGW and 5 dgw players.. Risking taking Coutinho out as have a feeling he won't start.

Mee rotates nicely with Ogbonna and dunk and good fixture this week.

Don't really see an alternative at the price. There's Lascelles but it's Newcastle.

I bought Mee at £4.5m and would require surgery elsewhere for Jones. Not sure there's anyone I'd want to lose.

Do it if you can. Have Kane and Morata. Captaining Morata this week and keeping Kane, as I could not afford to bring him back if I dropped him.

I'll lose 0 value on kane too, so there's no real reason for me not to... unless of course a different transfer pops up.

Sorry.. By "everyone", I mean he is one of the main people that are getting captained. Salah is obvious why, but Hazard is just not doing much point wise. This whole season actually.

I have him.. and was gonna sell him this week, but am afraid to now. Just wondering what's the big secret.

He's been playing very well if you watch the games. Pretty unlucky not to have hauled. Had a lot of near misses and shots saved off the line.

Some of his little flick ons and 1-2s that get cut out are agonisingly close to coming off and likely giving points.

But I agree that Salah's form makes him the obvious choice this week.

If you were to get rid of Richarlison (6.5) or Zaha (6.8) after their respective encounters against Swansea and Man City, who would you show the door to? My plan now is to save the transfer this week and make 3 transfers (-4) on Monday, taking out Lukaku, Richarlison/Zaha and Hazard for Kane, Son and Arnautovic.

Son would go after his double GW and Sterling would come in.

      Richo has Man City after.

Yh, but Zaha also has Arsenal a few Gameweeks after. Both have exactly 3 Away games in the next 4.

Richo hasn't scored a goal in a while. Guaranteed to score vs Swansea though.

Afternoon lads. Mad to be tempted by Kane + Christensen -> Firmino + Alonso (-4)?

    Speroni
    Otamendi | Christensen | Kenny | Dunk
    Hazard | Salah (C) | Sterling | Richarlison
    Morata | DCL

    Bench: Hennessey; RLC, Kane*, Ogbonna

    1 FT, 0.1 itb.

Argument for: I want Alonso long-term, playing Firmino over Dunk would definitely improve my team for this week. Looking like Firmino is better than Morata in the longer term.

Argument against: Invites a potential -8 next week to bring Alli and Arnie in for Haz and Rich, plus Kane back in for Morata.

I agree about the Alonso move but it's all about how much points you are likely to gain from such moves.

I don't have Morata or Hazard but I do have Alonso and I suspect he may be enough CHS coverage.

Saying that, Moratta may well go big again.

As you have Kristensen, I would stick and save yourself two freebies for next week.

Cheers mate. I’m looking at moving out my Chelsea assets in the next few weeks. If I made those two moves this week, plus my planned ones for next, then from next week I too would only have Alonso as Chelsea cover. Making the moves now would accelerate the transition to my ideal team, though it would come at the cost of at least 8, probably 12 points over 2 weeks, which as you say is hard to justify.

Save transfer and play Niasse or transfer for Quaner & take a -4 next week.

TM - any news on Niasse this week?

I’ve been told he was originally starting last GW but Rooney was sent home ill again and Big Sam made late changes.

Please let me know...not ideal time to burn a transfer, but I have him and need him to play to field 11. Don't know if going to Quaner is worth it

Ultimately Everton are signing a striker so DCL and Niasse will be duds soon

Niasse doesn't play enough to be a fantasy option. He might play this week if DCL is rested and old sick man Rooney goes off at 60 minutes

Yeah I know, not really my point. I guess this week specifically I am in a bind. After dgw, I will free up funds dropping Haz...that way I will have more options for Niasse moving forward. Quaner at this point all I can afford

RLC at risk of being rested this GW?

Didn’t look right vs Arsenal. Obviously playing City but even 2 points might come in handy this week.

My keepers this GW: Adrian and Elliot.

I'm saving the FT. Rather use 2FTs on the DGW.

Good lad. I suspect Adrian is the best defensive coverage from either team for the dgw. The only issue is rot - Hart may play one of the games.

Cap for Haz is looking more and more like a differential risk, rather than a Salah warm feeling

I'd almost pull the trigger on Alvaro. I don't have him and armband currently on Haz. giving him a chance to go out of my team in glory.
