Each week we are reviewing the aggregated predictions on Superbru’s Premier League Predictor game, using the collective Wisdom of the Crowd predictions to guide our fantasy football thinking.

Please join the Fantasy Football Scout league here and add your own predictions to the data – the more there are, the more accurate the crowd should be (in theory).

GAMEWEEK 21 REVIEW

At the time of writing on Sunday morning, two matches have still not been played.

Man United’s malaise continues to confound the community, with another draw at Old Trafford picked by just 3%, whilst Swansea and Bournemouth also caused upsets.

Here are the Gameweek 21 results so far in descending order of predictability:

Well done to James Kelvie from the UK for doing the best in Round 21, picking a draw for Manchester United, and both the Bournemouth and Swansea upsets.

Mr Crowd Wisdom – using the aggregated predictions of the crowd – continues to move up the league, now into 48th place.  Perhaps as the season unfolds and the community becomes more knowledgeable based on past results and form., the collective wisdom improves.

The aggregated predictions of the community are making better predictions than most individual players in the game, suggesting that there is credibility in the Wisdom of the Crowd concept.

GAMEWEEK 22 PREVIEW

Here is the Expected Goals chart for each fixture in Gameweek 22, with our first double gameweek of the season:

And here is the ranking of teams in order of Expected Goals Scored and Conceded:

With two matches, Spurs are expected to score up to five goals, with West Ham also featuring higher than usual with their two fixtures. Harry Kane, should he recover from the festive sniffles, looks set to prosper as do other Tottenham assets such as their key midfield trio of Son Heung-min, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen. For the Hammers Marko Arnautovic could also be primed for points according to the crowd.

Manchester City and Liverpool are also expected to do well on the goalscoring front, as per usual.

City are also predicted to keep a clean sheet at home to Watford, whilst Leicester, Brighton and Stoke provide some budget-friendly defensive options.  Tottenham are also a good bet here, with only 1.21 predicted goals conceded over their pair of fixtures.

Is there anything that catches your eye in these predictions?

Good luck!

If you bought Salah for 9.0 would you sell for Erikson or Alli? I am torn..... I will definitely want him back at somepiont

No way I’d sell if Salah only miss 1-2 games

No, too much value tied up in him, you'd be buying him back week after for 0.5 more.

Not if you're losing that much on him, no

No way. Makes no sense if you bought at that price and presumably would want to bring him back at some point.

I brought in a defender as I’m hoping for two.

May bring in Erik if Silva doesn’t play today too.

Great article, thank you. When you see the Xg data like this it makes doubling up on the spurs attack look wise, and with so few goals predicted to be conceded, I think Davison Sanchez will be coming into my team also. Just Adrian from the hammers for me, their defence isn't looking so good now but Adrian may get save points to soften the blow if goals are conceded. He also has a good penalty saving record.

Planning to take a 8 point hit to get rid of Hazard, Pogba, and Richarlison, and bring in 2 Spurs midfielders plus Arnautovic. Which 2 Spurs midfielders would you say are ideal out of Alli, Son and Eriksen?

Alli and Son are more explosive but I think more likely to be rested, whereas Eriksen is more consistent and doubt he will be rested for either fixture. Right now I'm leaning towards Eriksen and Son. Plus, Alli could go bananas and get himself carded in a feisty London derby.

Also, thoughts on Lanzini as an alternative to Arnautovic? Will have lower ownership but doesn't play as far forward.

Son and Erik, in that order

If there is doubt surrounding Kane, all three of Eriksen, Alli and Son should play both games I think

Salah to Eriksen for the DGW ? Can't see Salah playing against Burnley and then a tuff game against City thereafter. Surely the priority now should be points over value ?

It depends, as Salah is a must have player you don't want to risk not being able to afford him just because of him missin a game or two, or having to make sacrifices to get him back in. Really it depends on how much you bought him for. For example I have a similar dilemma but because I had him since day one I can't justify losing .6 million

Is Aguero and stones going to rise tonight?

Stones won't. Aguero is unlikely, he's currently at 63% with a lot of activity, but doubt it will rise before the deadline

It looks like aguero may go up in price, you have about 15 minutes to sort it if so

    Q. Have Kane as (C), and Arnie as (VC).

What happens if Kane is rested tonight, but plays on Thursday?

Does tonight's Capt default over to Arnie and then revert back to Kane if he plays Thursday?

    1. Captain Roberto
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 14 days ago

      No.

Kane is Captain for the gameweek, even if he only plays in one match.

If he played zero minutes in the gameweek then Arnautovic becomes Captain for the gameweek as is standard practice.
