A Gameweek under lights has been thrown into mild turmoil by key injuries and breaking transfer speculation. It remains to be seen if Fantasy managers can still emerge from such a scenario with big scores.

Tuesday eases us in with three of the ten fixtures, with the John Smith’s Stadium undoubtedly the main focus.

That’s the venue for Huddersfield Town’s clash with a Liverpool side awash with key Fantasy assets, including the top scoring and top owned pick, Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian heads into this clash with an incredible record of a goal or an assist in 13 of his last 15 appearances and, having blanked in the 1-0 defeat to Swansea last time out, he is understandably backed to deliver.

Roberto Firmino’s record is also strong. The Brazilian has produced double-digits in three of his last five away days, while he scored against the Terriers at Anfield back in Gameweek 10.

Both start, though Jurgen Klopp’s teamsheet springs one major surprise, with Virgil van Dijk – brought in by 41,000 ahead of tonight’s deadline – left on the bench, presumably rested for the weekend visit of Spurs.

His height could be missed in the Liverpool backline given that the Terriers have chosen to opt for both Laurent Depoitre and Steve Mounie as a pair in attack. David Wagner also bids to mimic Swansea’s stubborn performance against the Reds by deploying a back five.

Elsewhere tonight, it’s Arsenal’s turn to try and break down the Swans’ rearguard with Arsene Wenger choosing to leave new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the bench at the Liberty Stadium.

Meanwhile, an injury-ravaged West Ham host Crystal Palace at the London Stadium, with a number of key Fantasy assets on the sidelines.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Think both camps have fair points. For me though when Pogba is 3.7m cheaper he represents much better value.

He’s not. Just hasn’t been performing the way he is capable of performing. But I’d argue that’s because he wasn’t happy and wanted a move. Sanchez on his game is worth 11.7 easily.

as a liverpool fan this annoys me a little, the best penalty taker should take them unless the game is won...yesterday was ok as we were 2-0 up, but salah's penalty was extremely average, and if the keeper went the right way it was an easy catch, let alone a save

    Pope
    Alonso • Ota • Jones • Christensen
    Salah • Sterling • Son • Lingard • CM
    Kane

    (Elliot / DCL / Niasse / Wimmer)
    1 ft & 3.8m itb

    A) Son ➡️ Sanchez
    B) Son ➡️ Pogba (Next week DCL to Firmino)
    C) Son & DCL ➡️ Pogba & Wilson (-4)
    D) Anything else?

Sanchez big differential but Firmino is reaching essential status with the fixtures and no blank after this week.

      a) save FT, play Ogbonna (bha)
      b) save FT, play Dyer (lei)
      c) Vertonghen -> Smalling (FT)
      d) Aguero & RLC -> Sanchez (c) & 4.5 (-4)
      e) Aguero & RLC & Vert -> J Ayew, Sanchez (c), Smalling (-8)

A/B/C would be Hazard (c). Thanks

I got laughed at for wildcarding too 'early' and getting rid of Kane (the round up to Agueros hattrick gw24). So far ive made a crazy amount of points on it (team linked in profile)... my point is sometimes, it makes sense to wc 'early' if you have 4,5 or 6 players you want to change... Others who are waiting and even avoiding hits are really missing out on a lot of points... if you feel settled on a new 'template' and feel like you figured it out before the crowd who were still convinced that the 'old template' was the way to go, this can give you a huge climb in ranking. This game is, afterall, about catching the right trains in the right time. And a early WC and getting rid of Kane has simply done the job for me so far. Will get him back later on. But for now im happy going without him even if he scores again vs man united, as those points are made up from the other upgrades.

Sorry for my english, its my 2nd language. Hope you got the point though

Your English is excellent - probably better than a sizeable proportion of Brits!
As for the WC, the main disadvantage is that you won't have it available for the WC/BB bonanza later in the season. Careful planning required for you - good luck!

Thanks buddy. But you cant play the WC chip and BB in the same round. So might as well use it early and plan carefully ahead (having two ft each round if possible). My plan is to play the BB in a dgw (when I know which cheap options have a dgw). That just means I need to have a little spare in the bank for that occassion, which I have now, but also could get with a few hits if not on two ft. In any case it would be nothing compared to what Ive made on the wc so far

I followed a handful of players similar to you last season who suggested (actually boasted) that their earlier WC would earn more than using it later (with BB etc). The idea has merit and I wanted to explore it.

One was about 30 + points up after 3 or 4 games compared to taking a hit and a few free transfers, the others about 10 points up and we’re taking hits two weeks later.

Each to their own and good luck 🙂

Thanks a lot buddy, and thanks for taking your time to reply - I appreciate your input. Im just crossing my fingers that it keeps going as well for me, as it have done so far.

Its my first season, so im exploring my options and will learn from the pros and cons of my actions this year, and come back even stronger next year

Good luck to you as well!

The mocking has got ott, but otherwise not so surprising that people argue for their own picks.
Playing one's own game though is sensible.

I agree with both statements. But imo there is a difference between stating "you most be outta your mind (I toned it down, yes)'' and ''I would do that differently because (insert valid argument)''

Opinion here is often quite samey and increasingly self-serving. Best ignored, unless genuinely unsure and/or assessed in the context of players advisers likely own themselves.

I just transferred him out instead. It’s very easy as he’s the most expensive player in the game. Meant I had Kun and Hazard last week.

Well played Rupert! I missed out on Hazards haul, as I decided to go for a really strong XI and spread the cash a bit more.

I agree on this statement, thought one could argue there are temporary template teams... but lets be honest, these templates change often.

                  Haha yeah, that was perfect!

I agree. But it seems highly unlikely. I had hoped we could convince Leipzig to give up Keita before the deadline. But I agree we need some solid replacements for the front three, if one gets injured or simply doesnt perform up to standards

Could have been done, but I might not have picked the right players to bring in on a -8. Just knew there were certain players I wanted, but im not a fortune teller, so I didnt know who would put up with the points in which rounds.. Made plenty of points to sort out the doubles as I wrote earlier, even if it means taking a hit or two. Besides, you cant use two chips in one round, and I still have the TC, FH and BB left. So l think ill manage the blanks as well as the doubles with a few hits if not on two ft

Good luck - if your rank is low and your team is in a mess it makes perfect sense to wildcard early and get a nice new year boost.

But be warned. It is a 38 round competition and over Gameweeks 31 - 37 many will be using their wildcard to help maximise the points potential around the double gameweeks and blanks.

Keeping that in mind and making sure that you can also do well over that time will be key to the true success of your early wildcard.

I have that in mind. And my plan is to always have two FT available if possible. Also have the BB, TC and FH chip available for the dgws and bwgs. So I think I got a solid plan that will work out just fine, compared to if I had not wildcarded early, as I have taken a 'huge' climb in rank. Thanks for the warning though. It is my first season, so im always happy to recieve some input

Planning the following moves for coming GW - Mahrez & Mee ➡ Hazard & 3.9 def. Advisable for a -4?

          Rest of the team is:

          Jones Ota Alonso Ogbonna Mee
          Mahrez Salah Sterling Lingard Shaqiri
          Kane Firmino Quaner

Depends on when you plan to play your Benchboost.. that chip is useless if you dont have a playing bench in that gw

Focusing on my H2H and playing an autocomplete team this week. Happy therefore to take a hit (or two). Which of these sound better?

          A) Otamendi, Son, Richarlison -> Mee, Pogba (or Martial), Walcott (-8)
          B) Otamendi, Son, DCL -> Maguire, Pogba, Wilson (-8)

          Adrian / Fabianski
          Alonso / Christensen / Jones / Otamendi* / Duffy
          Salah / Son* / Richarlison* / Sterling / Chupo
          Kane / Firminio / DCL*

With the need for an explosive differential captain, a United defender and to replace Pope and Kenny in the near future, am considering the following unorthodox (and uncharacteristic) -12. Bear with me.....

          OUT: Pope, Kenny, Son, Aguero
          IN: DDG, Jones, San(c)hez, Wilson/JRod/Ayew

Many will baulk at the -12 hit but my logic is:

          - If you are going to take a hit on United players, this week is as good an option as any,
          - Pope has City (if he plays) and Kenny probably won't start
          - I'll probably end up taking a hit to get rid of Pope and/or Kenny next week anyway
          - Leaves about 1-1.5m ITB to upgrade my poor bench of Niasse/Mbemba/RLC
          - Very few forward options between 6-9 million. But good value in Wilson/JRod/Ayew

          Any thoughts? Thanks....

Could work. Most unappealing aspect isn't the hits per se, but that outcome depends on one team.

              Thanks all - much appreciated.

An Aguero (c) haul tonight might complicate matters somewhat - but as it stands, I think I'll go for it. Want to do something that will break the template whilst strengthening the depth of my squad for the longer term and this seems to fit the bill.

Go nuts! DDG + Jones will repay you instantly... not too convinced about Sanchez just yet.. but he sure is a funny differential cap. Lukaku might get the job done vs hud as well though, as they will sit deep
