Fantasy Football Scout Cups – The Winners

The time has come to reveal the victors in our two Fantasy Premier League cup competitions after weeks of intense competition concluded with Gameweek 26’s dramatic finals.

In the Fantasy Football Scout Cup, TH14 joins donnellyc, Gribude, Ninja_Fit_Saints, Wild Rover, Mark, A Manager Has No Name, Sleepysi and myself in getting his name on the cup after a nail-bitingly close final against Elvarus.

Our new champion, who is 10,830 in the overall rankings, edged past  35th-placed Elvarus by just one point, winning 49-48.

Neither made a transfer going into this tie, but it was TH14’s backing of Manchester United’s Alexis Sanchez with the armband that proved pivotal, with the Chilean earning him 10 points after netting the rebound from his initial penalty miss against Huddersfield.

Elvarus opted to captain Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, who delivered a mere four-point return. This costly move wiped out the advantage he’d gained from fielding David De Gea, who was the only defensive player among the pair’s squads to deliver clean sheet points.

Congratulations to TH14, who receives a £150 Amazon voucher, while Elvarus’ efforts earn him a £100 Amazon voucher.

In the Fantasy Football Scout Cup third place play-off,  Ezdmanx recorded a comfortable 46-34 win over former FPL champion Tom Fenley and is handed a £50 Amazon voucher for his efforts.

The underdog also prevailed in the Members Cup, with 40,936-placed rrcmc defeating the 7,552-ranked graslauk 58-41.

Rrcmc joins Waltzingmatildas, Fuzzy Dunlop, Kippax Kickers Acquafresca, Trigg Ola Svanheld and Malaikat Jahad in the roll call of Members Cup winners and receives a £150 Amazon voucher.

Although both made transfers, neither of their moves affected the final outcome, with rrcmc swapping Spurs’ Son Heung-min for Everton winger Theo Walcott, who both blanked.

Meanwhile, graslauk, who wins a £100 Amazon voucher as runner-up, moved Walcott’s team-mate Dominic Calvert-Lewin out for Swansea City’s Jordan Ayew.

Even though the Everton striker found the net, it was events at Anfield that proved crucial, with rrcmc’s captain Mohamed Salah scoring a brace and delivering him 30 points.

Graslauk’s armband selection, Harry Kane, could only produce an eight-point return after scoring one penalty for Spurs, but missing another.

A goal from Jamie Vardy against Swansea and six saves from Burnley stopper Nick Pope in the draw with Man City saw Rrcmc comfortably over the finish line.

Gloria Kanchelskis receives a £50 Amazon voucher after winning the Members Cup third place play-off against Root 38-35.

Congratulations to the winners.

A second free to enter Fantasy Football Scout Cup will take launch very soon, with the Qualifying Round set for Gameweek 29. Stay tuned for details.

Didn't watch the game on Monday. Did Deulofeu look better than Richarlison as an option? Obviously Deulofeu sample size is very small and heard that Richarlison was getting in good positions

Deulofeu looks better. Was the main playmaker drifting into the central areas with Janmaat overlapping.

Watford were playing really sexy stuff at times, Deulofeu was the heartbeat of attacks.

Feeling very left out with all the talk of free hitting and wildcarding to navigate blanks and doubles.

Anyone got advice for those, like Me, who have burnt these valuable chips already?

Assuming I should favour double gameweeks over the blanks...
Should i gamble with hits or risk fielding weak teams in blanks and make up for it in doubles??

    Any advice would be great.

Plan as far ahead as possible, at least you have clarity... it's not as complicated with no WC or FH.

      -Get 7 players for 31
      - take a few hits in 32-33 to replace the 7 with dgw 34 players
      - will be a few teams that play dgw 34 and the blank of 35 so they are gold to you
-35 accept a lesser week but should still be able to field 7-9
      - ship 35 players with a couple of hits in 36/37 for fullest dgw team you can

Thanks for this! I'd be happy fielding about 7/8 in the blanks to be honest and do my best to get out strong double gameweek teams. Will probably be cutting my losses compared to those on the site who have all their chips in play but will still get a rank boost against more causal players with the right planning I hope!
Can't afford to be wasting any now though that's for sure!

Yes it's doable for sure, not ideal but doable... something quite clean about it tho... and have a clear path and objective and can take some hits... quite good fun!!

    Pope, Elliot
    Alonso, Otamendi, Jones, Mustafi, Ogbonna
    Salah, Sterling, Son, Walcott, Carroll
    Kane, Firmino, Wilson

    1FT, 0.1 in bank

Ogbonna ---> Fernandez? (not glamorous I know, but has a good fixture - if Alonso is rested that might be handy since Mustafi has a bad fixture!)

Would like to make one point on the Everton conversation of last night and earlier.

As Mark pointed out often takes Sam a few games to get his players to do what he wants. Took about 10 at Palace. Isn't it likely that that is just happening again but managed to get an initial burst out of them earlier for whatever reason and they've faulted whilst he drums in to them what he needs? I think he's had 10 prem games now so wouldn't surprise me at all to see them turn the corner and finish strong

I personally found it surprising to hear them mentioned along with Huddersfield as the likely whipping boys and critisicm of Pickford buys. He's a great keeper no doubting that I don't think and will make a lot of saves on the run in. Suggesting he's a man in a dress with make up is going a bit far when comparing him to fabianski!

Great scoutcast again though, not enough Az-Lingz trash talking for my liking but other than that very enjoyable!!

I'm saying he's had the ten games now so could be immediate! I need to replace Adrian with a dgw keeper and Pickford was the one until last few games. Gonna have to gamble on my gut instinct I think!

        1. Deulofail
          • 8 Years

10 games already? And they still suck? Oh no, what did I buy? 😆

What made you get Coleman at that price? Intrigued.

            1. Deulofail
              • 8 Years
              6 years, 2 months ago

I had money ITB do buy Sanchez for Eriksen, but decided that would be a waste of money so upgraded my 2nd/3rd sub Masuaku to Coleman instead 😆

I didn't realise Zeegelaar would start so I was worried about having only 3 playing defenders, who could be rotated, so I put Coleman on the bench as backup, and he didn't even play (okay not the most surprising thing in the world).

Why Coleman though? Because I wanted one more GW31 guaranteed player so that next week I can decide to use FH chip in GW35 if I like, and still manage to get up to 11 players out in GW31 for free. Also, I have Alonso, Azpi and Otamendi, who are all asking to be culled from my team, so I thought the defence was a good place to make a change. I can downgrade one of the other three another time. This also gives me a strong bench in further weeks as rotation picks up again.

Most importantly, Coleman looked to have a good relationship with Theo and was getting into the box despite playing in a back four, so I figured that during good fixtures he could really prosper, especially if they shift to wingbacks as they did at the weekend.

Also the reason you give in your post, that I was hoping BFS could turn Everton around, and in fact I believed it to be happening, since this was before their defeat to Arsenal. Everton also have a history of being a solid top 10 team, and I think they have the quality to finish the season strong.

Finally, I was happy with the value of my players outside of defence, and couldn't see myself spending the money on premium anywhere else given the poor fixtures and/or upcoming blanks.

Sorry that was an essay and a half 🙂

Haha! What a wonderfully thorough and detailed reply! I like the move... ballsy. So many people including me just make what look like good decisions based in previous points but haven't got the balls to call one before they score. So kudos to you... I also want my big defenders out so may get punchy too.

I think as much as they were poor on the day of Arsenal thrashing, we have to give credit to Arsenal as they are very strong at home and they can beat anyone there coupled with the confidence of new boys coming in. Everton will definitely bounce back and i am monitoring both Coleman/Pickford and Theo.

      1. gunner 2727
        • 8 Years

Yeah the Arsenal game wasn't reflective for me. We were bouncing with auba and miki and people forget quickly how stupid we can make anyone look on our day. I hate Wenger but auba will make a big difference as finally have some pace up top to scare defences... and oh look ozil and miki have space to create. All that said we will still be awful defensively most likely and bottle the big games!

You are right mate our defence is very weak. I believe though we are going to get good results at home regardless of opposition strength. Cheers

I feel sorry for the defenders tbh ...we attack with more players than any other team pretty much and have xhaka as dcm coverage. I find it remarkable he went for someone like xhaka who was same price as kante. Even someone like Gueye would have been better by a mile, someone who wants to actually do the job not spray 60 yards passes and 40 yard screamers

I think Wenger was inclined to get a player who will slot into the attacking passing game with ease. I think at the time he had reservation with Kante in terms of going forward but Kante would have been tremendous for us had we got him. And you are right Idrissa Gueye is an upgrade to Xhaka and we can still get him now but Wenger wouldn't. Lets hope this is his last season so that we can re group and get a proper DM, Goalie and 2 CB's.

Anyone else thinking to downgrade defence now to 5m players such as mawson/ake/mee etc until the end of the season? Fixtures are decent and with all the UCL/cup rotation on the horizon I think it's a great shout.

Bolster the attack with the likes of Aubameyang?

      Considering doing,
      Aguero + Mane >
      Sanchez (c) + Firmino.
I need to try something different to overhaul my mini league rival.
There’s just something that keeps stopping me from pressing that confirm transfer button.
I’m bottling it every time... 🙂

      Depends on who plays CL.
TAA may come back for PL.
VVD still getting up to speed.
      Lovren still awful.

I have 2 FT and want to remove Ota time to cash out on him.
I hope Moreno plays CL then Robertson at 4.7 looks good

Good short term fixtures and has a game in GW31, only 4.5m

Gomez only has a knock I wouldn’t be taking him out with his nice fixtures and game in GW31.

      I will do the following:
1- Christensen --> Smalling ( Risky move but its Utd clean sheets at 5.3
2- Gomez (if ruled out) --> Mawson
2a- Kenny ( if Gomez is fit) --> Mawson
      3- Arnie --> Son

No idea what to do with this lot.

Got 2 FT and 1,5m in bank

    Pope
    Mee Alonso Otamendi (Dunk Mariappa)
    Sterling Salah Shaqiri Lingard Son
    (Depoitre) Kane Firmino.

I am leading by 40 points in my mini league so I can allow myself to be passive.

    Currently thinking:

    A. Lingard to Walcott
    B. Dunk to Smalling
    C. Depoitre to Quaner (to free up cash)

    Thoughts?

      Walcot.
No need to make a defensive change plus walcot is playing GW 31
      Smalling we still dont know

Just A and roll the other. Although lingard may be worth holding for new

        I think he wont start.
Im a Man U fan and i hate lingard. Whenver he starts we sucks. Got a lucky run but his time is over in the starting 11

If FPL was launching a Poll asking you to vote for or against this change, what would you vote:

    - 2 FT everyweek instead of 1 but no possibility to save any FT for the following GW?

    For or against?

What scenario would make you more worried this GW:

    A) You captain Salah, your mini league rival captains Kane
    B) You captain Kane, your mini league rival captains Salah

Strangely I would be more worried about B although I can see Kane outscoring Salah
