An unceremonious defeat at the hands of League One Wigan may have scuppered Pep Guardiola’s quest for a legendary quartet of titles but Manchester City’s Premier League form has been as strong as ever.

After sweeping five goals past Leicester in their final fixture before the FA Cup break, City have now found the net an impressive 79 times this season – a full 18 clear of their nearest rival, Liverpool.

With five attackers – Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, David Silva and Sergio Aguero – all past the 100-point threshold in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), City have clearly proven themselves to represent our most reliable source of regular Fantasy points.

As 19,000 delirious Wigan fans discovered on Monday night, however, there is a marked difference between City’s form at home and on their travels.

In this latest Technical Area article for members, we will put this under scrutiny, with particular reference to the merits of keeping faith in Man City’s attacking assets.

Why? Normally when Hazard plays up top it doesn't work, as the other players up top in the three are not close enough to him. However saying that this is one of the rare occasions he has had both Willian and Pedro either side of him as they should with their pace and trickery cause barca some problems..

Need to take their chances. as our defence is not as strong as it used to be ...

I disagree i reckon Chelsea would be better off starting with Giroud as a target man and then bringing on Morata late on.

Even though we're home I expect us to let Barca have a majority of possession with us looking to counter; thus, leaving Giroud and Morata on the bench for faster players for the counter

You don't have to look at a lineup to see that it's a defensive lineup. You need to think outside the box a bit more

You could argue it is defensive because I think he is willing to let Barcelona have possession and catch em' on the break.Fab spraying out balls to Willian and Pedro. Hazard jinking between the lines.

I think you may be right, Chelsea need energy, pace, intensity to counter the Barcelona style and with Pedro in the false 9, swapping with Hazard or Willian then they may be more effective than with a lump like Giroud/Morata flopping around up front

Yeah. I think Eriksen will outscore the likes of Walcott or Shaqiri even with a match less.
Mane maybe not, but then you forgo the Liv def.

Nice work as always, cheers for this.

The other issue with them is they are about to have 8 healthy players for 5 spots if Jesus is back next week.
    Aguero Jesus
Sane Silva Sterling Silva De Bruyne Gundogan

Does KDB drop deeper if Silva starts? Does Bernardo go back to the bench with Sane back?

I can't recall their selection %s during the group stages of the CL last fall, but it might soon be the number one priority for them.

    Pope
    Alonso • Dawson • Jones!
    Salah • Sterling • Son • Lingard
    Kane • Firmino • Niasse

    (Elliot / CM / Ota / Wimmer)
    1ft & 0.4m

    If Jones is fit:
    Alonso & Lingard ➡️ Robertson & Mahrez

    If Jones is ruled out:
    Jones & Lingard ➡️ Robertson & Walcott

    Sound plan?

I would imagine that Giroud is not starting because we plan to be breaking on the counter; ol' Gru is not terribly fast.

No start for Morata as he's not in form & we need a good performance. Pedro is willing to do the dirtier defensive, ball-winning, running (that Conté even mentioned); has Barca experience.

Willian has been in great form so would have been harsh not to have him start.

I'm not a huge fan of the false 9 but I understand the reasoning this time around.

    1. Hotdogs for Tea

I was planning to get Mane right before GW31 but can't find a decent defender to get this week. Will go Masuaku to VVD as my 3rd Liverpool slot and roll one of the FT to next week. Or do you think I should use my both FT?

    Alonso | Otamendi | Jones* | Masuaku* | Mee
