Gameweek 28 may have only finished last night but our sights are quickly set on Gameweek 29 as we roll out our usual pre-deadline members’ article focusing on the key captain candidates.

First up, we check in with the top picks in our Captain Poll before delving into the Opta numbers and Rate My Team ratings, then offer a differential or two for your consideration.

The Captain Poll

There’s a two-way tussle for our attention this weekend, with Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane claiming the vast majority of votes cast for Gameweek 29.

Both are braced for very favourable home encounters, with their respective visitors, Newcastle and Huddersfield, mustering just a single clean sheet apiece from their last 12 road trips.

Salah’s explosive consistency earns him the edge, though, with 13 double-figure hauls to Kane’s eight.

Nonetheless, whereas Kane has supplied 13 points against his weekend opponents (back in Gameweek 7), Salah endured a very rare blank at St James’ Park in the same round of fixtures, leaving Tyneside with just two points.

With the pair claiming 42% and 37% of the votes respectively, their overwhelming popularity serves up a number of differentials to consider.

Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino also boast the form to take advantage of the Magpies’ porous defence.

The Senegal international has netted four times in his last two matches across all competitions, while Firmino has four goals and two assists in the previous six Gameweeks.

Man City’s home clash with Chelsea keeps both sides’ main men off our Gameweek 29 radars.

Nonetheless, it’s worth remembering that Sergio Aguero has delivered nine goals and 50 FPL points in City’s last four in front of their own fans.

Aguero clearly relishes playing against the Stamford Bridge outfit, having scored ten goals in all competitions against them. Only his record in head-to-heads with Newcastle (14 goals) is more impressive.

His team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, meanwhile, has three sets of double-figure totals in his previous four at the Etihad.

Eden Hazard arrives at the Etihad with six goals in his last seven appearances. Four of his six double-figure hauls have been delivered on the road.

Leicester City’s home clash with Bournemouth could boost the points potential of Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy.

Up against a defence with one shut-out in 15 attempts, Mahrez looks to extend a record that’s harvested a goal or assist in nine of his last 12 league starts. Vardy has found the net in five of his last six outings across all competitions.

Romelu Lukaku has rediscovered his Fantasy form just in time for Man United’s trip to Selhurst Park on Monday evening.

The Belgian international bagged his first double-figure haul since Gameweek 5 in last week’s win over Chelsea and now collides with an Eagles’ defence that has managed just two clean sheets at home this term.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Can someone convince me why to sell Sterling (to Mahrez probs)

He may play (already missed 2, In training)
    Stoke and Everton after Chelsea
No other city forwards in team
Cheasea are good but have had some shakey games in defence
    No wildcard to play
Price has gone up by 0.9 mil since bought
    Has has been so good
    Will cost me -4
Most replacements risky/ short term options
Except Mahrez who did play well last week but perhaps we should wait to see him defo get back to form (though could be worth risk)

if I had no WC I wouldn’t shift, not going to anyway.
if he plays against Chelsea and stoke he is getting points with the way they’re playing.

Yeah it is frustrating but it’s a trend with more teams desperate for results.

I think that’s why it’s better to double up with GW31 in my mind on one subpar team (ex Pickford and Keane) which maybe more fruitful.

    Looking for Jones replacement:

    A) Everton def (also have Pickford)
    bur-BHA-sto

    B) Huddersfield def
    tot-SWA-CRY

    C) Daniels
    lei-TOT-wbm

I’m leaning towards A instead of hoping for TWO subpar defensive teams to clean why not improve the odds with one.

I won't double up on Everton defenders.

Forget about Daniels, Bournemouth are shit.

So out of those option, I'd choose B).

That is not an exact representation. They’ve gotten spanked by the big teams (most away fixtures have come against top 6).

Also they lost clean sheets twice due to penalties and a Deeney belter.

All of Big Sams press conferences are centered around keeping a clean.

Imo Everton better defensively than Huddersfield in the GW31 bubble.

Been considering Everton myself because of their fixtures. But they've just been so bad the last couple of weeks 🙁 Baines or Coleman best picks

Well Baines/Coleman are back after long stints which may mean games/minutes under restriction. Would be great to with Baines but not guaranteed to play next 3. Fullbacks are a no go.

        What about Michael Keane

That’s difficult I’m thinking on your wavelength. Only Pickford I think.

Coleman and Baines are back but minutes/games may be under restriction which makes and full back a no-go.

In central defense the most “nailed” defender is Michael Keane but he does have competition esp with Fuenes coming back most probably for GW30.

Would you ditch Hazard now for a -4?

    Jones + Sterling + Haz ->

        • 11 Years
        7 years, 10 months ago

damn, miss 0.1 to do Marhez + Davies.. Gotta be VVD/Robertson + marhez or Robertson + Marhez/Eriksen then. Feels like the money invested in Haz is to much. A lot of great options in the midfield.

Seems like you missed that Bavies rise, but it happens...

I'd suggest you to go with Robertson and pick the one you like the most between Mahrez and Eriksen -- both great options. I assume you've already have Kane, so decide whether to double up on Spurs attack or not.

Selling Hazard doesn't make sense. Even though they had some tough fixtures, he's in form and can score vs. anyone.

Keep him. A streak of easy fixtures is coming soon.

          • 7 Years

value lost? he's come down 0.1. unless you got him last week, you're losing more value by selling him. whether or not he'll get more or less points than the players you mentioned is impossible to say, but your value argument is invalid

          1. Ibracadabra
            • 16 Years
            7 years, 10 months ago

potential value lost... he has already come down 0.1, he is going to come down another 0.1 before kickoff on Sunday and if he doesnt play or comes on for 1 point he will be down another 0.1m by next week, easily. That's 0.3m - critical before a wildcard in my opinion especially if the replacement (mahrez or mane, etc.) rise in value.

Rose played 90 Wednesday. But it’s not impossible. Can’t see Poch letting Davies go without a game for 10 days though

Somehow lost control on a downwards bend, steering locked and brakes (snow) and slammed the curb with my front left tyre. Tyre has burst completely and my friend thinks I may need a new wheel too?
It is a Corsa, probably hit the curb around 6-8mph. Reckon anything else could have gone or just need a new wheel? And can I get an actual new wheel from Kwikfit? Or is that just tyres? I'm such a noob with cars lol just so happens to be a kwik fit just up the road.
Good job I was going as slow as I was and the curb was steep otherwise I was heading straight into a lamppost and a house!

          Thanks!

Depends if the wheel rim is cracked, if it is you will need to replace it but the guys at kwik fit will tell you if it needs replacing.
It could have caused damage to the suspension and more than likely will have knocked the tracking out if it was a big hit.

I think it is cracked but was hard to see in the snow. How much you reckon for a new wheel, tyre and fitting? Is a 62 plate.
Although it's only up the road I now need to worry about how to get it there haha.
If it is a new wheel completely required, will I have to go to Vauxhall themself?
              Appreciate the reply!

You should have a spare in the boot mate. Put that on and take it to them. They should be able to source the rim for you, if not try Vauxhall. Price depends on what time of wheel.

Nope. With my 99 Clio you got a spare wheel, and what did I get buying a brand new Corsa......just a tyre repair kit and no spare wheel. Shocking I know but I heard that's quite common these days.
Depending on the whether I may be able to drive it there (risky). Seems a bit pointless to get recovery to take it!

Those who are going for Eriksen - some for a hit - tbh i dont see an upside of that. He plays deep at times this season and doesnt get lots of points like last season with Alli struggling as well. Mahrez, Sterling if fit and even Arnie are ahrad of him. Salah is on his own league. Davies and Kane for me are the best Spurs players to choose from imo.

I see your point Zeb he does drop deep quite a bit but the fixtures are great and he’s on set pieces

Dembele is key here. As long as he is fit Eriksen plays attacking mid.
