With the Paddy Paddy Cup V sewn up last week by sleepingmaster, we now turn our attention to it’s sister competition, the Members Paddy Power Cup II. Over 900 Fantasy Football Scout members signed up, with hopes of qualifying for the first round of 512. As expected, the standard was very high, and the qualifying mark was set at a lofty 82 points for Gameweek 24.

That put 494 in the hat for round one, and forced 41 fantasy managers to rely on their overall rank to earn one of the remaining 17 spots. The list of all qualifiers can be viewed right here.

On to the first round draw then, which has been made and can be viewed right here. All 256 fixtures will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 25, and the result will follow shortly afterwards.

Our reigning champ, Kippax Kikkers (formerly Kippax Kolggers), is up against leekota, as he looks to defend his title.

Elsewhere, plenty of Scouts (not me) are in the mix – Mark takes on Shimmy, G-G-Granville has drawn Shehzu, Andy will square up to Lucas that is all, it’s Big Dunc Vs. ChrisHighwind, Pure Olivia is up against djembe, Anorak‘s been paired with Primprong, and Jonty will play johnd.

The prize? Well, once again sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

    People (myself included) are reluctant to go with Aguero because of his away form, one of these days he will explode against a home side, and I have a hunch he could do well against that big and slow Villa defense.

    For some reason, I don't feel comfortable with the (C) on Bale, I think Newcastle even at home will be tough, and I don't see too many goals, Newcastle are more of a threat now that they have the squad they do, and the belief they have. Other option is Dempsey, Silva and RVP, but at the moment, I am on Aguero.

    The original plan was to save the FT this week then do Valencia-> Sig/McClean and Dzeko->Aguero but I'm tempted to about that plan to cut Enrique for Evans/Santon/Twaio. Opinions wantedon which path to take.Bare in mind, If Dezko does well this weekend he may earn more game time and become a decent differential to Aguero. If I'm overlooking something please tell me.

    Is it only me that has a feeling Ba might not deliver in 3 of the next 4 games against Tottenham and Arsenal away, and possibly against a strong Sunderland side at home?

    I've got Kelly, Taylor, Taiwo and Simpson at the back, and also Jose Enrique, who I could take out for a defender less than 4.7m in value and have an extremely weak defence to accomodate Ba though? Who else is decent for so cheap at the back?

    Evening folks,

    I'm in a touch of a quandry this eveining. I'm off to (hopefully) sunny Spain for a few days of golf, drink and general merriment, in the morning so need to finalise my team post haste. My dilemma is should I ditch Walters for the GYLF? Obvious answer is yes, but my problem them becomes who do I bench and secondly is my defence strong enough. Team is at present:-

    Krul
    Naylor Richards Evans
    Silva Bale Dempsey McClean
    RVP Ba Dzeko

    Lindy Santon Skrtel Walters

    Should I:-

    a.) Do the Walters to Gylfi switch (and if so who do I bench from the front 8?)
    b.) Change Skrtel to Kompany (which I intended doing 2/3 weeks ago, but didn't for obvious reasons)
    c.) Hold transfer and play above team
    d.) Something different to above (please wow me!)

      I have the same front 8 except Sess instead of McLean and I'm benching Walters this week to save me the dilemma. Next week do Walters to Siggy and Dzeko to Aguero. That's my plan anyway.

      b) I wouldn't give yourself a bench dilemma when you have a move you need to do anyway, and that will probably pay off this week. Shame not to have Siggy for NOR, though...

                I haven't, no, hardly read any bios or autobios except Fergie's and a Maradona bio. Need to get Keano's, Jamie Carragher's is supposed to be very good and I'll be getting the Phillipe Auclaire (we'll go with that 😉 ) one, cheers for letting me know!

    Pondering McClean > Siggy as I have no pressing concerns and see Siggy outscoring him in the next period of games. Could always save the transfer, but barring injuries I don't really have any concerns next week, either.

        All this love for the Totty defense. I never thought I'd see the day. I'd play Ba over McC as McC looked out of his depth against Middlesorough... may have been a one off as he's looked like the real deal b4 but...

      I'd rather go 3-4-3 with McClean on the bench and save the FT. Ba can score against anyone.

      If you really want Siggy then go for it. If you do I would bench Valenica before Ba.

        Yeah thats an option as well, just don't see them do much at WHL. But as you say, he does damage against anyone.

      I like the team 9/10. If you are going RVP(C) then bench Mig. Also I'd do the transfer you are planning to do.
