Earlier in the week, our recent series of Monitor members’ articles on Wildcard ran the rule over both Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Romelu Lukaku, the two most bought forwards ahead of Gameweek 32.

Next up in our assessment is Riyad Mahrez, the second most bought midfielder ahead of Leicester City’s expected pair of Double Gameweeks.

Despite finding himself out of favour in the early months – due to a lofty 8.5 opening price tag and disappointing previous season – the Algerian has turned back the clock to rediscover the heights of his dominant 2015/16 campaign.

Now sitting fourth among midfielders in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) with 161 points, Mahrez has proven himself to once again represent a consistent top-end choice. Meanwhile, double-digit hauls in successive Gameweeks underpin the Algerian’s explosive potential as a differential captaincy option for managers willing to swim against the tide.

With an incredibly obliging run to end the season – including two Double Gameweeks and a slew of favourable matchups (Leicester’s next six fixtures will match them against Brighton, Newcastle, Burnley, Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham) – the winger will be a staple among Wildcard squads.

Anybody else having Mikhi in WC?
When do we change to Son 33 or 34?

I'm having both. Will do Mkhi and Auba to Gudmundssen and Lukaku for 34.

I'm conerned about Mkhi's minutes - reckon he's a prime early-sub candidate, esp if they're winning, but those two home fixtures look way too juicy to ignore.

I'm still not convinced Son is a great pick for away fixtures (and Spurs have 3/4 - also the exact time Kane is likely to be out) but he's going to haul at least a few times before the season's up and so I may as well fire-and-forget now. He's not going to drop in price.

For those that are wildcarding and running something similar to this; Lukaku, Vardy, Barnes/Murray for Gw34 how are you looking to shape your front three come GW37? Surely you don't want to be sticking with either Barnes or Murray when there will be Kane, Lukaku, Auba, Vardy, Aguero and Jesus to choose from?

      Good question. I'm WCing to:
      Auba Vardy Barnes; and then
      GW34: Lukaku Vardy Barnes
      GW36: Kane Vardy Barnes
GW37: Kane Vardy ... Austin? or upgrade elsewhere for a 4-4-2.

Thanks. I was looking at the same exact moves for 34 & 36 but for 37 I feel as though Kane - Vardy and the one of the above could be the way to go. All have great fixtures and with so many likely to hold their third (cheap) striker could we potentially miss a great chance to open up a lead/close a gap?

do the transfers over two weeks and take 1 hit -

I like this, but I'm guessing you're having to take sacrifices to fit Hazard in. Not sure I can find the funds for that while still wanting to maximise my BB GW34

The only sacrifice for me is really just not owning Alonso, which I'm content with. His goal threat should deceive others into paying more money for a defender that I doubt will get much more than the other Chelsea defs

Even if he is, you'd be surprised if he got both games and City is one of them anyway. Reckon just have a plan to get him back for 36, ideally without a hit.

    No Free hit.

TC in 34 and BB 37:

    De Gea / Ederson
    Alonso. Monreal. Tark. Lowton. Chilwell.
    Salah. Mahrez. Willian. Gross. Kenedy.
    Lukaku. Aumamyang. Firmino.

Rightly or wrongly, I'm setting up with BB37 in mind. Or at least with the fixtures in 32-38 in mind and happen to be bench boosting in 37.

Original plan was to free hit in 34 as I'm planning on having 11 players for 35. TC was going to be used on Salah against Stoke or WBA.

However, am I better off playing whatever players I have in 34 and then maxing out on Arsenal, Liverpool and City players in 35? I could then triple captain Mahrez in 34.

Will be going into 34 with DDG, Alonso, Son, and Mahrez as dgwers.

Will have Salah, Firmino, Aubameyang, Mhiki and Mustafi with a good sgw fixture. No Lukaku or Vardy.....

So free hit that lot in 34 to bring in Lukaku, Vardy etc? Or potentially TC Mahrez in 34 and free hit 35 to bring in City players?

    Thanks.

Other way around. 6 of 15 don't have the DGW. And again, no FH and prepping for 35.

Yeh no FH for GW35 is proving a problem for those that have played it.

I guess it’s a matter of looking at the upside of having players with good doubles in both 34 and 37 versus a reduced team in 35.

Salah proved in GW31 that it wasn’t necessary to have a full team and he’s playing bottom of table WBA in 35...

Repost as bottomed previous page. Been tinkering with WC and this is what settled on. Enough in bank to bring in Lukaku for Aubameyang in week 34 on a free transfer. Davies and Monreal a bit of a risk but big upside. Any thoughts welcome on squad? ( no FH and BB week 34)

    De Gea Ryan
    Lowton Morgan Monreal Davies Alonso
    Salah Mahrez Son Willian Gudmundsson
    Aubameyang Firmino Barnes

      Yeh looks decent.

Would stil be tempted with Vardy over Firmino with 2 x doubles versus no doubles, and money to spare to upgrade elsewhere.

Anyone else think the doubles in DGW34 are a bit meh? (The number of days rest between fixtures)

    Bournemouth - liv(a) - 3 - MUN(h)
    Brighton - cpl(a) - 2 - TOT(h)
    Burnley - LEI(h) - 4 - che(a) - 2 - stk(a)
    Chelsea - sot(a) - 4 - BUR(h) - 2 - FA Cup Semi
    Leicester - bur(a) - 4 - SOT(h)
    Man Utd - WBA(h) - 2 - BOU(h) - 2 - FA Cup Semi
    Southampton - CHE(h) - 2 - lei(a) - 2 - FA Cup Semi
    Tottenham - MCI(h) - 2 - bha(a) - 3 - FA Cup Semi

In previous season's, I've always liked the BB in GW34 with 14 or 15 DGW'ers, but I'm struggling to see where who I'll load up on. Rotation looks a problem for all teams still in the FA Cup, and they have the better fixtures on paper. So, Burnley, Leicester and De Gea??

I'll be keeping Alonso, so will be hoping he keeps a CS away to Southampton. I can't see him playing against Burnley too with the FA Cup 2 days later. Same probably goes for Hazard?

Might be worth doubling up on Burnley's defence.

Yeh safer option. Mee would be my 2nd Burnley defender though and Christensen could be a bargain. Risky though

Still tinkering on WC... trying to have as many DGW players in 34 for BB
    dont have FH...still have TC

    DeGea (Pope*)
    Alonzo/Smalling/Lowton*/Chillwell/Maraiappa*
    Salah*/Hazard/Mahrez/Gudmonsson*/Grob
    Auba*/Vardy/5.5

    GW 35
*6 players plus should have 2 FT - Salah Captain

So you would go with Willian and then put the 3.6 million into the forward?

                Gives me 7 players GW35 + 2 FT
                Gives me 9 DGW 37

Agree as a #9 but playing wide he is much more effective. He can be very explosive and only owned by 7%

Would you change anything on my current team? Any other players to get me points in 34 and play in 35? Also looking for best 5.5 forward for the 3 fixtures. Really only going to play in 34

At 5.5, your only real option is Barnes so you may have to change a Burnley player - perhaps change Pope to Butland?

Burnley are the only team who have a double in GWK34 and also play in BGW35 so you're just looking for the players with the best fixtures leading up to 35 and also play in it ofc

              For a non-FH team, it's generally good

                Thanks
I know Burnley is the answer just wanted to play Pope as my differential that game week for those without the FH.

Changed my team without Hazard. Its above. Just feel he is due to play well. Either he will play unbelievable so he can move away from Chelsea or just be due

The defence screams rotation, maybe get a nice cheap mid 5th dg'er, lose Silva and sort the defence/keepers out.
