David Silva will miss Spain’s friendly with Argentina on Tuesday, Stoke City’s attack gets a boost and a number of Premier League stars are in action during Saturday’s international fixtures.

Manchester City’s Silva has been allowed to leave Spain’s squad for “personal reasons”.

The 32-year-old, owned by 10.3% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, started and played 71 minutes of Friday’s 1-1 draw with Germany.

But he will play no part in Tuesday’s match with Argentina in Madrid and there is no official confirmation either way as to his availability for City’s fixture at Everton on Saturday evening.

Silva has missed a number of domestic matches this season following the premature birth of his son and this latest development will put the 55,000+ who have signed him ahead of Gameweek 32 on alert.

Diouf boost for Potters

Stoke City hope to have both Mame Diouf and Xherdan Shaqiri available for Sunday’s Gameweek 32 trip to Arsenal.

Diouf has missed the last two matches with a shoulder injury, leaving Potters manager Paul Lambert to make do and mend up front, with midfielder Eric Choupo-Moting and veteran forward Peter Crouch both used in the lone striker role.

Lambert’s assistant manager, Stuart Taylor, has now said that Diouf is “coming along nicely”. He is currently away with Senegal and could feature in Tuesday’s friendly with Bosnia Herzegovina.

Taylor added that the 12.5%-owned Shaqiri is continuing to rest after pulling out of Switzerland duty with a calf injury.

“You’ve got to go through the pain barrier which a lot of players do in fairness to them – Xherdan Shaqiri was one of those last weekend for us.”

The playmaker passed a fitness test to feature against Everton last time out, though according to Taylor, signalled to the bench to request his withdrawal on 76 minutes. While Shaqiri is willing to play with the injury, his ability to complete 90 minutes still looks in question, particularly at Arsenal in Gameweek 32.

Midfield stars in action

Three major midfield assets were involved in yesterday’s international fixtures, with the most popular – Spurs’ 15.1%-owned Son Heung-min – playing 75 minutes in South Korea’s 2-1 loss to Northern Ireland.

Son couldn’t repeat his blistering domestic form – he’s scored four goals in his last two Gameweeks – for his country, but he remains a key Gameweek 32 target, with more than 82,000 managers making him the third most purchased player ahead of next weekend’s action.

Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-yueng played 67 minutes in Belfast, while West Brom duo Gareth McAuley and Jonny Evans featured for 90 and 68 minutes respectively for the hosts.

Arsenal’s 11.7%-owned midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan played the full 90 minutes in Armenia’s 0-0 draw at home to Estonia, with Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan doing likewise for the visitors.

Meanwhile, Man United star Alexis Sanchez provided the assist for Chile’s late winner in a 2-1 victory in Sweden.

The 2.8%-owned attacker played the full 90 minutes and it was his shot, saved by Swansea City keeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt, that was turned in on the rebound to seal the win.

Nordfeldt’s club-mate Martin Olsson played the full match for the Swedes, as did Man United centre-half Victor Lindelöf.

Elsewhere…

Leicester City winger Demarai Gray scored for England U21s in a 2-1 win over their Romanian counterparts.

The midfielder captained the side and played 59 minutes before being replaced by Everton full-back Jonjoe Kenny.

Other Premier League players in action were Trent Alexander-Arnold, who provided the assist for England’s winner, and Kyle Walker-Peters, the pair both featuring for the full 90 minutes.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles played for 70 minutes but limped off with an injury which will need assessment. Meanwhile, Tammy Abraham enjoyed 84 minutes before being replaced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Lindelöf’s team-mate Eric Bailly and Spurs full-back Serge Aurier were part of an Ivory Coast defence that couldn’t hold on to a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw away in Togo.

The pair played the full 90 minutes, while Brighton striker Tomer Hemed scored on the hour for Israel and was subbed off just a minute later as his side lost 2-1 at home to Romania.

Watford’s André Carrillo was on target for Peru as they defeated Croatia 2-0 in the early hours of Saturday morning, while club-mate Sebastian Prödl played the full 90 minutes in Austria’s 3-0 win over Slovenia on Friday.

Any news on Christensen? Looking at the below WC if he's fit... 0.3ITB

Could downgrade Bailly to Smalling and upgrade Tark.

    DDG / Fab
    Bailly / Christensen / Lowton / Morgan / Tarkowski
    Salah / Son / Mahrez / Willian / Gross
    Aub / Vardy / Firmino

Aub / Firm to Lukaku / Barnes in 34

Will you keep Firmino? Fear of rotation and no dgw. I bought him when the price is 8.6 and can only sell at 9.2. At the moment, he is already 9.7. A big gap to risk.

I'm keeping until 37 personally when I'm looking to switch him to Kane. He's a quality player. Possibly the best value premium forward.... Gets goals and assists in a team that's thriving and scoring for fun. Ditch at your peril!

      Gone for me.

Getting rid allows me to field Lukaku, Auba, and Murray for 32 and 33 then can do Auba and Christensen to Vardy and Alonso.

I'll be FHting in 35 so may have him back for that week only then boomerang back to my current team which has GW37 DGW players in it already.

If I do a quick PPG-comparison to Vardy it is 5,4 to 4,7. If you have FH-chip left Vardy will give you two more games and is nailed. I did firmino to Vardy (sold at 9.1)

How's the WC looking? Got all chips remaining.

    De Gea / Ryan
    Alonso / Bailly / SPURS / Morgan / Lowton
    Salah / Mahrez / Son / Willian / King
    Auba / Firmino / Murray

    33/34: Auba + Firmino > Lukaku + Vardy
    36/37: Lukaku + Murray > Kane + cheap

Thought about getting a DGW player instead of King, but think I prefer my premium defs over the rest of the season over 1 extra game in 34 from a cheap player.

    Smalling/Bailly v Robertson v Vertonghen weeks 32-36

All have 5 games. Is Robertson not best option for those with no week 35 FH? Some risk Moreno may get gametime in Everton game but Liverpool need to keep pushing in PL so I would say Robertson pretty safe and Moreno may come on after 60 minutes which actually would be a good thing if bags CS!

    Smalling ( SWA- 32), (mcy- 33), (WBA and bou-34), (blank-35), (ARS- 36)

    Robertson (cpa- 32), (eve-33), (BOU-34), (wba-35), (STO- 36)

    Vertonghen (chelsea-32), (sto-33), (MCY and bha-34), (blank- 35), (WAT-36)

With BB in GW34, who will be your captain then?

    * Salah (BOU) - SGW
    * Kane (MCI, bha) - if fit
    * Son (MCI, bha) - not sure he will started both
    * Eriksen (MCI, bha) - price tag kill all the team
    * Mahrez/Vardy (bur, SOU) - slim chance of double digit
    * Lukaku (WBA, bou) - same as Vardy, but more expensive
    * Hazard/Willian (sou, bur) - same as Eriksen and Son
    * Morata (sou, bur) - really?

    Or any others candidate?

When analysing if a 4 point hit is worth it what is the criteria you usually use?

Obviously it's nice if that hit is repaid in the next game week but this is often not the case.

If a player has good form or you believe they will come into form is this enough to justify the hit?
For example: I took a hit to get Eriksen in for a run of 3 games before 31 when I thought he'd score well. The transfers I made that week were Albrighton, Otamendi and Alonso to Mee (who I wanted long term), VVD (who I wanted for 31) and Eriksen who I wanted for fixtures. Those moves have possibly broken even for me in terms of points and Eriksen has already moved on from my team (ironically for Zaha in another hit for 31 which didnt really come off...)

Was my logic for getting all those players in correct or was it just a gamble?

I'm interested to see what peoples opinions may be on points hits as I've taken 84 points hits this season so I clearly love a gamble. My rank doesnt show much success from this as I'm languishing around 650k. Thats not to say that hits cant work however as previous HoF Number 1 Peter seems to have taken a lot in previous seasons and has done well...

In short what is your rationale for taking hits, do you hate risk or love a calculated gamble?

    1. Jeremy Corbyn
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 8 Years
      7 years, 9 months ago

      Expected return. Nothing else.

If you are only looking at the gameweek ahead, you want to break down the chances that a player has to get points.
For instance 40% of getting 2, 60% of getting 6.

Then you compare them with the person you are replacing.
If the weighed average of the first exceeds the one of the second by at least 4 points, the swap is worth a hit.

At the day it’s mainly down to luck whether they work out or not.

It certainly makes the game a bit more enjoyable when they pay off as you get to think you’ve outmanoeuvred the competition.

    Hi Folks,
Need some help with FPL APIs.

Im learning Python and just thought i could do a small project related to FPL and I need info on FPL apis which could give following details:
    1. Given a team (fpl id), fetch details for a particular game week (e.g. total points, chips played, -4 etc)
    2. And then player details for that team, for that gameweek (e.g. goals scored, goals conceded, etc)

Any help will be much appreciated

It's not clear what you are trying to do.
Such project is not necessarily Python related. But any predictive algorithm can be implemented in Python, of course.
What fpl needs from a computer science point of view is a programme which takes opta inputs and devises a more accurate prediction than what we have now. So you want to look at reinforcement learning - in Python, if you like.

Well as i said its a mini project.
What im trying to do is automate the calculation of my mini league weekly winners list.
The calculation is easy-medium complexity: find top three players with the highest gameweek score, but subtract hits taken, apply tie breaker logic, etc.

The exercise should help get a hands on python and be fun.

No not yet. I can write the python code to do the calculations. That shouldnt be too tough for me.
What i would need is the API that will get me the necessary information.

Something like a fetchData() method that makes the api calls, pulls all the gameweek data into predefined structures for each team in my league.

For weeks 32 and 33 which 2 from

    A Willian
    B Son
C Mkhitaryian (and transfer to A or B in 34)

Son. I don't like these conditional transfers, because they commit you to swaps that you might not like later on. Flexibility most of all. Son is someone you will want later on anyway.

Willian and Mkhi due to better fixtures, and then Mkhi -> Son in 34

WC team is taking shape.l along very template lines:

      DDG Ryan
      Alonso, Morgan, Lowton, Dunk, Stephens
      Salah, Son, Mahrez, Willian, Matic
      Lukaku, Firmino, Vardy

...would you ditch Alonso and Vardy, replace with Christiansen and Auba, then look to move Firmino to Vardy before DGW34?

Can't quite afford it, but riding the price rises might get it there

The finances do allow this to happen now...I'm a bit reluctant to pull the trigger though.

Bobby's been good to me, owned him since Xmas...will take a 0.5m TV hit and won't be buying back once he's gone.

Alternative is to go Auba-less and downgrade Alonso to Christensen and maybe get a Spurs def as an alternative.

          I'll be FH'ing GW35...so that's not an issue.

Vardy will be coming in with Lukaku, as the 2 main strikers with 2 GWs who are nailed...it's just a case of when Vardy comes in.

And I do want Auba for the 2nd DGW...might as well enjoy his two upcoming home games too?

How is she looking? WC team and going to BB GW34, FH 35 and TC37.
      DeGea - Ryan
      Alonso - Morgan - Smalling - Lowton - Simpson
      Son - Salah - Mahrez - Willian - Gudmunsson
      Firmino - Auba - Barnes
      0.7 ITB
Double LEI defender isnt so good, best replacements for Simpson?
Then could do Firmino and Auba to Lukaku and Vardy to GW34.

Anyone else questioning whether Chelsea assets are actually worth getting on a wildcard?
Alonso, explosive but on current performance is overpriced
      Christensen, constant worry about injuries
Courtois, currently flagged and fixtures worse than DDG
Hazard, not worth the price on current performance
Willian, popular on here and could be a bargain but not nailed which you need for a bench boost
      Giroud/Morata, no go

Views on this WC appreciated! Money ITB for Auba -> Luk.

      DDG
      Alonso Davies Robertson
      Salah Mahrez Son Willian GroB
      Aubameyang Vardy

      Pope Maguire Barnes Dunk

I know Davies is a rotation risk but I think he plays pretty much all the remaining games.

From 36-38 he's essential, and getting him in 36 will be tricky if you FH in 35 given it'll be 1 FT and an upgrade.

With City first gw34, I think Spurs will try to make sure he's fit for dgw34
