Monitor – Alexis Sanchez

Having struggled to make an impact in his opening matches for Manchester United, Alexis Sanchez has made a timely return to form ahead of Double Gameweek 34.

Back-to-back double-digit hauls against Swansea and Man City, denying the latter of the title at the Etihad Stadium, has reignited confidence in the Chilean’s Fantasy prospects.

With Jose Mourinho’s men set for a kind pair of fixtures against West Brom and Bournemouth, Sanchez looks a ready-made differential in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), boasting a 3% ownership.

In this latest Monitor article for members’, we run the rule over Sanchez’s recent form for the Old Trafford outfit to assess whether he could be worth the hefty 11.5 outlay.

Absolutely. Still the best player in the league, been in my team all season, and won't be leaving it barring serious injury.

        This.

I've learnt my lesson from previous season's of punting. There are some players you don't mess around with. Salah is one of those highly owned, explosive players that you just keep. Take risks elsewhere.

I don't think his freedom is being restricted - Mourinho basically just lets his attackers figure things out. What Alexis is now doing is playing the way he wants to.

Wenger had to constantly battle to stop him dropping deep to try to run the game. But Arsenal had Ozil, and United don't. So Alexis as playmaker is probably the best thing for the team right now. He'll score less goals but get more assists - likely not worth his price tag as a result.

It does mean good things for Pogba though, and probably Lukaku.

Is Lingard a good option for this week, or is it more likely he will only start one game?

For those without or not playing a FH in 35 is your tactic:

    A. Load up on doubles this week and take copious hits next week to get a side out
    B. Load up on doubles this week and play with only 6 or 7 next week
    C. Strike a balance between 8 or 9 doubles this week and 8 or 9 starters next week to get 10/11 out easily

Example. I want Eriksen this week, Sane next week. Do I play.

Sane, Sane – 2 fixtures, no hits
    Eriksen, Sane – 3 fixtures, minus 4

It’s that sort of example across the board really. How many are you prepared to do?

Option C for me. Am in a similar situation. Going with 10 DGW players + Salah, and take a hit to have 10 for GW35

C for me as well.. many sgw'ers that play in 35 could easily outscore dgw'ers.. ie Arnie, Salah, Auba, VVD.. so im avoiding hits... will only have 7 dgw'ers this week and field 10 (11 with a hit) in 35

2FTs and need to drop one of my midfield to afford Kane as part of a -4.. has to be Salah (gulp) or Mahrez

    A) Auba Mahrez Monreal > Kane Albrighton Vertonghen
    B) Auba Salah Monreal > Kane Son Tarkowski

Leaning towards A as I don't think i can bring myself to selling Salah!?

Sorry for the repost, but it was lost at the end of the last article.

I have all my chips left and with dwindling opportunities to use them. But have a lot of points to chase down in my ML, circa 70 pts.

Pondering whether to Free Hit GW34, WC GW36, BB GW37 and TC GW38

which will give me a full DGW squad for GW34, 8 + FT for GW35, full 15 for DGW37 with BB.

    current squad :

DDG, Ota, TAA, Bauer, Chilwell, Robertson, KDB, Ster, Son, Alb, Mcarthur, Vard, Lukaku, Firm, Lossl

and yes, I know I have been utterly stupid to not have had Salah all season.. and now I'm paying for it.

madness or a better option that I've not considered ?

I would have wildcarded in 33 to load up on players for 34. In 34 i would have used my TC on Sanchez. FH in 35 for a full squad. In 36 i would have taken hits and loaded a full team for BB.

In your situation i would now swap KDB and Firm for Sanchez and someone else and triple captain sanchez or lukaku. In 35 i would use your free hit. 36 i would wildcard for a gameweek 37 full 15 players and BB in 37.

Using my FH this week to try and preemptively catch up in my ML and put some pressure on those at the top.

Biggest question is Pogba and Hazard, or Sanchez and Willian? I can afford either, but can't decide. I feel like Sanchez and Willian is probably "safer".

The full squad except for these two slots:

    De Gea
    Azpi Morgan Sanchez (3.9) (3.9)
    Ericksen Mahrez (4.2)
    Lukaku Vardy Barnes

    Thoughts?

Hi guys, any way to get Sanchez and one of kane/Lukaku in the team? Have 2ft and 0m itb

    Ddg Ryan
    Alonso Bailey Maguire Cedric lowton
    Mahrez Son Gross salah Willian
    Aubameyang Vardy Barnes

    A: baily/salah/auba >> kane/pogba/smalling (-4)

    B: baily/salah/auba >> eriksen/Lukaku/Christensen (-4)

C: find a way to get Sanchez..only way I can possibly see it is with a 8 point hit but then I ask is it worth it?

Gross for a Soto 4.2/4.3. gross has terrible fixtures and you will bin him eventually. Take the hit now

      Son for Sanchez.

      Maguire for Morgan.

      Does that work financially?

    De Gea Ryan

    Stephens* Alonso Bailly Lowton Morgan

    Salah Gudmundsson* Mahrez Willian Gross

    Barnes Auba* Vardy

    A) Auba and Stephens --> Bertrand and Lukaku (C) (-4)
    B) Auba, Alonso and Stephens --> Kane (C), Christensen and Bertrand (-8)

Playing BB - think there's a fair chance my two ML rivals may TC Kane so ideally want him in this week but Stephens has scuppered my plans! All responses appreciated.

I think Pogba and Sanchez were getting in each other's way for a while. Jose seems to have found a balance for them both to play together and both to excel. Really hoping he sticks with the 433 so Pogba can continue make runs forward. But no doubt he'll be held back in the pivot of the 4231 and Lingard will be #10 🙁

    1. Pochecinno
      • 8 Years

So now you're saying Lingard IS a good pick?

      1. Piggs Boson
        • 12 Years
        6 years, 20 days ago

As others pointed out, I didn't account for Jose going back to a static, disjointed 4231. It's a real possibility.

Opinions should always be altered when challenged with good criticism - so mine was altered slightly when good points were made.

Lingard could be a decent option, due to the 4231 threat, but is still risky.
