Arriving in the midst of a lukewarm Double Gameweek, the latest episode of the ScoutCast is more intent on looking ahead as the entire five-man crew press the button on the Free Hit chip.

We’re back to full strength, as Granville, Jonty, Andy and Az join me to discuss our approach to Gameweek 35’s slimline schedule, inspired by another round of your community questions.

That attacking riches on offer from Manchester City and Liverpool dominate the early chatter, as we give our take on the run-in targets least likely to suffer from rotation to feature for Free Hitters and the “chipless” this weekend.

We then pan for Gameweek 35 gold in less familiar territory, as we re-open the Coleman vs Baines debate ahead of their meeting with a Newcastle outfit perhaps already in flip-flops after four straight wins.

End of season template busters help round things off before we career into the regular weekend preview to offer early thoughts on the Gameweek armband.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Midfield Looks like this.

    Salah Sterling Mahrez Son Milovojovic

    What do you think?

    1. Mahrez to Sane
    2. Mahrez to David Silva
    3.Son to Sane
    4. Son to David Silva

Dilva may get some rest to be with his family.

If you still have faith that Mahrez could do something, ditch Son to Sane.

          Otherwise, Mahrez to Sane.

PS: Wait for Pep’s presser for sure. 🙂

Mahrez has been poor lately and Leicester look as though they are on the beach. The results for Spurs and Chelsea this week means, Top 4 race is still on.
Silva might get the odd rest here and there more because of the baby. Sane looks more nailed currently.

getting into top 100k is so difficult for us normal people, how do the elite players do it with such ease?

I don’t think that I’m an elite player.

      1) Research
      2) Try to make good decisions
      3) Don’t rush transfers
      4) Try to knee jerk as less as possible
      5) Some luck is needed too

FFS and some Twitter accs are so useful imo.

I had six green arrows by GW9 and sat at 12K when my slide down the table began, but I still lingered around the top 30K by consistently getting slightly above average scores until i decided to drop Kane before his two hat tricks. Had a terrible Xmas, slid down to around 100K and have been there ever since by scoring slightly above or below average. At 87K now.

So, to get to the point. It's all down to having a long sustained period of green arrows. There's a bit of strategy to it but a lot of it is luck. I listen to the Scoutcast every so often and follow the Scouts on Twitter and I think some people just simply have an instinct for this game.

I was sitting at 581k on GW14 and am now at 29k
Never finished inside top 50k before.
I think the things that have helped me are:
-Not rushing to try to beat rises and falls in value
-Picking players that I have seen perform well on the pitch
-Trying to use the benefits of the site whilst still making up my own mind and not following like a sheep
-Only taking hits when I have little choice not to
-Having a strong bench to fall back on when those surprise team sheets come out!!
-Leaving my second wildcard as long as possible
-Only looking at about 3 gws at a time and not planning too far ahead

Anyway these have been the things that have worked for me but like we all know, it is far from an exact science
Good luck for the rest of the season!

This has been my best season by far. I have been watching games a lot, of course getting tips from this forum and doing my research quite a lot. I think the biggest lesson i learnt was patience is key. You need to give players at least more than 2 games when you bring them in, more so if for a hit. Also learnt that hits are bad short term, but can work really well in the long term of you bring in the right players. I have relied on players from top teams mostly to get me points and it has worked tbh. Also my (C) picks were spot on mostly during the season. Last but not least, there has been a bit of luck on my side as well. 🙂

This is a good point. I'm having my best season ever and patience has been a big part. It's also made the game less stressful. What I need to change for next season is rage transfers and short-term hits.

Yes you are right. I have in most cases this season, made my transfers on a Friday night or even Saturday. I would always ride the frustration of a bad GW and wait til all players are confirmed fit then i make my transfers. This has been a jewel tbh. Cheers

My PB was last season, 82k.

This year I have followed more, done research, looked at stats and I am currently at 13.1k with 7 green arrows in a row now and 9 out of last 10 GWs

Should be my 11th consecutive top 100k finish and the only rule I live by is to only pick players who I think are good for c.10 consecutive gameweeks - avoiding enforced transfers is much better than chasing a 1 week punt

I'm in top 100k a lot but don't consider that successful, still trying to break through, but that requires a good start, no taking weeks off and making a couple moves.

Only one in top 25k, the Luis Suarez year

Screwed myself this year when I went on New Years vacation and dropped from 300k to 750k over the 3 gwks 😡

      • 8 Years

to me it is down to how good each one is to pick the right players.I had three or four slots i was very uncertain of and i made the wrong decision in all three, and i only blame myself for not being able to read the picture better. Basically, Alli over Eriksen, Valencia over Smalling and Morgan over Chilwell. But i would not have gotten 25 points from my bench, which is surely pretty good, 8 points above my best bench point all season.

    FH Problems!!

Firmino, Ozil or Mane as the last spot (swap for Milivojevic)

    Karius / Pickford

    Walker VVD Baines (Masuaka Mbemba)

Sterling Salah Zaha Arni (Ozil / Mane /Milivojevic)

    Lacazette Jesus (Firmino / Perez)

I can only fit in one of Firmino / Mane or Ozil - My first sub will then be Milivojevic or Perez depending on who I go for.

Mane was the one who didn't get a rest last time round so maybe he'll get a rest this time round? I want a strong first sub and think both Mili and Perez are good options and Masuaka as defensive cover.

Aub won't start I think so I've swapped him out for Lacazette.

    D.Silva.

Anyone else thinking this weekend might be his last game before being given more compassionate leave? Pep will let him win the league in style, celebrate with the home fans and then rotate him heavily.

He did score 16 points in the reverse fixture GW17 - but yet people are choosing Walker, Ota and Sane over him?

Vipi bro, I think he'll get rotated to spend time with his family after this week.. FH yes, rest of the season no.

Sema bro! Unatoka wapi? I agree this should be his last week - Pep will also want his Spanish players fresh for the world up.

Mombasa, yeh that as well! I've gone for Sterling walker and jesus on free hit. City ta maliza Swansea, they'll celebrate the title in style.

Nice. Mombasa is home, but I'm up in NBO!

Kabisa - city needs to go out in style after losing to united and then Liverpool. Pep will want to show his force!

But why go for Walker and not 3 attacking players? Sane or Silva are more explosive then Walker.

City probably most likely to keep a clean sheet out of the teams playing. Walker also has potential to get attacking returns if City go all out attack which I think they will.

Reason 2 if you look at my team below, I've got a lot of attacking players I want (I have one more attacking spot left but if I fill it with a city player I don't know who I can replace walker with).

Tena you have to think if walker and mane/firmino/ozil will get more then someone like bellerin and sane/silva.

True - CS's are hard to figure out this week.

I've also activated FH and will wait for @anfieldexpress with team news before finalizing the team.

                Good luck with Walker.

Wazee! 😀 D.Silva only in FH team. Sterling/Jesus will get more gametime for the rest of the season imo.

89 points with six remaining players (Christensen, Morgan, Willian, Mahrez, Vardy, Lowton) ends with 95 lol. What a score to wake up to!

I need a defender to replace Alonso.

He must have a game this week and a double in 37. He can't play for Man City.

    Who would you pick?

The Wenger quotes on Aubameyang have really thrown a spanner in the works for most FH teams, but I’m coming around to the idea of picking him regardless. The way I see it is this -

Best case scenario of course is that he starts the game. The alternative is he gets brought on as a sub against a tired and leaky West Ham defence. It’s highly unlikely that he’ll be an unused sub. I’d still be very confident of a return from him off the bench in this fixture.

      Too much thinking imo.

I wouldn't bring in 10M+ player with no guarantee to start on my FH chips.

The thinking is pretty straight forward to be fair! Bottom line is I think he’ll play minutes regardless and get a return 🙂

The money doesn’t really matter, it actually seems quite difficult to spend the whole budget from my drafts.

Firmino, Ozil or Mane as the last spot (swap for Milivojevic)????

Opinions on this. Gone for a good bench to cover TAA Mane Sane. Think Auba will play some minutes regardless

    Butland
    TAA PVA Mustafi
    Mane Salah Sterling Sane Zaha
    Auba Jesus

    Hennessay Perez Long Yedlin
