Dugout Discussion – Everton vs Newcastle

The curtailed Gameweek 35 concludes at Goodison Park tonight as Everton host Newcastle United in a fixture that has all the makings of a dead rubber.

The two teams are now surely safe from the threat of relegation and appear to be playing for Premier League prize money only over the remaining matches.

But from a Fantasy perspective, there is still interest in the Merseyside clash, with Free Hit managers investing in the likes of Jordan Pickford, Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman in their one-week refresh.

All start for the home side tonight.

Meanwhile, those without the chip at their disposal, likely take Magpies assets into this match, with Ayoze Perez, Kenedy and budget defender Paul Dummett among the most likely to feature in squads.

Indeed, Perez is the most signed player on show tonight, having commanded over 133,000+ transfers in ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

That follows a rich vein of form from the Spaniard which has produced three goals and three two assists from his last three Gameweek starts.

Perez sits behind Islam Slimani in the attack tonight, with the Algerian starting a Premier League match for Newcastle for the first time since his loan move from Leicester City.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    My dilemma as only have 0.1m in bank and Mahrez (8.8) to Sterling (8.9) can be done for free is do I wait to see if I can do Salah->Sterling later this week if Salah is out this weekend or pull the trigger now on Mahrez-Sterling but risk a Salah rest and thus Dunk off the bench. I think I will wait as West Ham played City well last time (2-1 loss) + really want to sell Salah if he is confirmed out.

        i honestly don't know gnu, seems like my team is the same as everyone elses but just seems to of gone to crap, bit odd. Just sitting at 278k is not nice and nver know what exactly i'm doing wrong, especially when i only take on advice from better players on here. It's got me down to say the least.

          Bad captain picks, right team - wrong defender etc.
          Chin up.
          You've got 11/12 DGWers but 3 are a bit shaky - Ota, Lingard & Morgan and you've got some hitlist picks for 37 as well but it's hard (or reluctant) to give advice as it looks like you've been plain unlucky. 🙁

            It certainly can, and i've hit every bit of bad luck in every department haha.
            That's true, i'm still remaining slightly hopeful for a strong finish, and if i take over my rival then happy days.
            I would be overjoyed to just finish within top 100k with only TC chip left.

            Reckon it's worth playing TC on Kane this week instead of DGW? WBA defending better, and newcastle won't be a walkover either i guess? way to make up some ground?

              I would have to say it sounds foolish or risky when you have the opportunity of having 2 games the following week but you know that.
              Don't compound your bad luck by making risky or hi-risk moves is my advice.

    Two quickies:

    1. If we get another Anfield Express leak this week and either Salah or Firmino are not starting, would you start Willian instead?

    2. If both play, am I mad benching Willian rather than Kenedy and Milli?

    Feels like such a waste having him on the bench, but he just can't seem to get into my team this week.

      Don't bench Willian for Kenedy or Mili. I would sell Salah or Firmino if they aren't starting this week, so hold transfer. You may get 20 minutes from them this week and then AT Chelsea. I know Salah had a great cameo off the bench earlier this season against Stoke but Lambert has improved them.

        My worry is that Milli and Kenedy are both playing at home, in teams that are playing reasonably well, against beatable teams, and both are nailed. Willian is playing away, in a team that is a bit out of sorts, against a team who (City aside) are improving, and is a rotation risk.

        I think if Firmino is dropped, then I'll start Willian ahead of him, but even if Salah is benched, I still think I'll still start him ahead of Willian.

    How many (and which) city players do you expect to have for the dgw37?

    Currently only on Jesus and Sterling (already have em) as I think everyone bar Jesus and Ederson is prone to rotation. So not sure I want any more than those two.

      What about Vardy and Alonso to Jesus someone like Cedric seeing as you already have Azpi. Don't see the point in having both.
      Can you afford Lingard and Alonso to Sterling and someone cheap?
      Option 3 as you have mentioned would be to just save and assess next week. Will be tougher to dump Alonso next week though.

        I can do Vardy + Alonso > Jesus + 6.0m, but I kinda like Vardy (will consider it), and

        I can do Lingard + Alonso > Sterling + 4.4m, but I'd be concerned about Sterling's minutes (especially when compared to Jesus)

        Saving might be the best option, but I'm scared my ML leader is going to get lucky with whichever City mid he chooses 😐

        B. Jesus doesn't appeal to me. His only asset is being a nailed on striker for City. Sterling is a nearly nailed on forward that gets more points for goals and CS while also playing much better.

        Many fpl players xfering in Ederson since he announced wanting to take a penalty. A waste of a City spot that should go to an attacking mid/fwd player imo.

      In need of some big help guys, ahead in my ML by 22 with some decent money up for grabs.

      DDG (Hennessey)
      Alonso, Smalling, Morgan (Bong, Lowton)
      Mahrez, Alli, Willian, Grob (Gudmundsson)
      Kaku, Firmino, Vardy

      2nd place already has a front 3 of Jesus, Kane, Kaku (very weak mid - Salah, Gundogan, Zaha, Hughes, Albrighton)

      Wary of price rises as I have already missed a couple.
      Do I aim for the same front 3 as 2nd which would include dropping Alonso and 1 of Mahrez/Alli for some much cheaper options?

      a) Firmino, Kaku, Alonso > Kane, Jesus, 4,9 def (any suggestions?) for -8.
      b) Kaku > Jesus
      c) Firmino, Alonso > Jesus, 6.1 def (Davies, any other options?) or cheaper def with spare cash to go Kaku>Kane week after if need be for -4.
      d) Any other suggestions

      Currently have 0 itb. Would gladly take on board any suggestions. Currently 39k OR but ML is priority. Apologies for the essay.

        I went for a tactic similar to C. Dumped Vardy and Alonso for Jesus and Cedric, but have the money to do Lukaku to Kane next week and have leftover to get Sterling too if need be.
