Gameweek 14 of the Fantasy Premier League season saw the quarter-finalists in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, battle it out for a place in the cash-rich semi-finals. Also at stake this week was of course another free £25 bet courtesy of our sponsors. Here is how it played out…

1 – tippman 65 – 62 User

2 – DRP 70 – 61 DollyDaisy

3 – The Von 71 – 59 DaFoe22

4 – gooner dave 75 – 56 sandgrounder

The first, and closest, tie of the round was the lowest-scoring, as tippman edged out User with the only winning score below 70. Despite reaching the semi-finals, tippman is in somewhat of a bad run, having got his fifth consecutive red arrow. He now finds himself as the lowest-ranked manager left in the competition.

Then we had last week’s top-scorer, DollyDaisy, go the same way as all previous top-scorers, out of the competition. A late Tim Cahill revival wasn’t anywhere near enough to recover the damage done the day before by Carlos Tevez. His exit paves the way for 2,682nd in the world (and highest-ranked manager remaining) DRP to reach the final four.

Next up was The Von‘s comfortable 71 – 59 victory over DaFoe22. After his first two drops in the rankings in the last two weeks, The Von pulled out a green arrow, largely thanks to Rafael Van der Vaart and Kevin Davies.

Bringing up the rear was gooner dave‘s trashing of sandgrounder 75 – 56, which was the widest margin of victory and the highest aggregate scoring tie of the round. With an impressive score of 75, gooner dave picks up a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power. Sandgrounder also picks up the unfortunate award of the lowest-score of the round.

So that’s our final four, and four nationalities are represented. Flying the flag for England is The Von, tippman is the last remaining Irishman, DRP hails from India and gooner dave is out in Germany.

I’m sure you’ll join me in congratulating the big four on their achievement, and commiserating the four leaving the competition at this stage. I’ll bring you news of the draw for the semi-finals on Thursday, which will take place in gameweek 15. And remember, a win next week guarantees you a free £100 Paddy Power bet.

Yep. You could stick on a certainty - say, Chelsea at home to Sunderland - and rake it in...

Every couple of years, England and Australia play each other in cricket. If Australia win, they rub it in a bit.

If England win, they hold a national day of celebration, a massive street parade in London and knighthoods for all the players - even the crap ones.

A little medal to say "we beat another team in a game played by about seven countries in the world".

seeing these results, I am feeling pretty bad. Last season, I was listed here at least few times.

This season is horrible for me, planning to retire..! OR might need to take some huge points hit and again wait for the best.

(i can take a revenge on leader by getting his players in my team. I am sure that, all those players wont score more than 2 then)

Not that i want to but i'd only get 10.8 if i sold him now. Where's my money?

looking at your transfer history, you bought Tevez for 10.7, so you won't get 10.9 until he gets to 11.1.

Cracking, i just looked at his history and 10.8 seemed to be the lowest when i bought him so figured i got him for that - msut have dipped to 10.7 in between weeks i guess.

Afternoon all. I'm looking to sell Enrique for a defender under 4.5. I'm thinking:

      a) Bardsley
      b) Ricketts
      C) Collins

They're most likely bench sitters anyway, so it's okay to have a 3.9 defender that merely plays.

Simpson ain't bad but Wolves can't keep a cleanie for toffee, least Givet and Bardsley's respective teams can and they have good fixtures, I'd rather have a 15 where everyone can do a job and have a decent chance at some points.

tevez seemed to drop a bit deeper when playing with balotelli, but on the other side city will probably create more goals in total with them both playing, so guess tevez would get his points anyways. Balotelli could be a cheaper route to attacking city points tho, but a risk for sure, a walking mental case as he is

I'm not an expert, but his price should drop for sure. Thursday/Friday I'd imagine, and then probably again Saturday night (after the deadline) as the targets will be reset.

It's bloody annoying. I was thinking about selling him last week when he was £13.1M (the price I bought him back for) and the only reason I want to keep him is because of the dodgy Newcastle defence this week, but the constant price dropping makes me just want to cut my losses. (Bent will more than likely be coming in and he's got a decent fixture this week anyways).

I took Drogba out before the mass exodus started but if you still have him certainly keep him atleast for this gw. He was unlucky not to have a ton of goals against Brum and I personally can't see Newcastle's weakened defence keeping him at bay.

Remember that every person who takes him out makes him a better differential.

I made a bit of an error in bringing in Jarvis last week, I just can't see him doing much based on current form and considering ditching to Cahill already, unless I ditch Adam instead.

Anyone else considering ditching the Drog for Tevez this week? I'm thinking of holding on 1 more week, although I'm not sure if this will cause me to lose value...

I brought in Jarvis last week too when it was between him and Pederson, yeah not good! I'm gonna give him this week, I think Wolves can get a goal or two at the weekend so he's worth another week IMO, if he doesn't cut it then I might go for Pederson.

Btw I'm keeping Drogs this week, probably the big C too!

Right lads. Should I play Foster or Jaask? My H2H rival is going to play Foster (Robinson other keeper Man U away) if he has any sense. So should I play him too or play Jaask and hope for the best? Foster is always good for save points and Bolton can't defend well.

I'm sticking with Jaas, I'll be more frustrated if I didnt play him this weekend with Blackpool at home and they keep a cleanie than if they don't and Foster keeps another, which I doubt IMO.

i doubt either will keep a cleanie to be honest, but can see bolton leaking far more goals against an attacking blackpool than birmingham vs. fulham.

birmingham fulham could easily end 0-0 and i think bolton/blackpool will be a very open game with lots of goals in it, so since i'm in the same dilemma, i'd go foster.

Boetang - mysterious injury that noone will report
      Alcaraz - suspended
P Jones - vs Man Utd away
Elmo - out the team, probably a 5 minute sub?
      Coleman - 90 mins?

Already got Elmander in. Very tempted to break the golden rule a take a hit on a defender. Hmm..

Your struggling there but the way I see it, if you haven't got enough defenders to actually play 3 then tale the hit as in reality it's only a 2 point hit becuase u would get 0 if they don't play, least whoever u bring in should score 2.

In my humble opinion, that "rule" is BS.

Did Elmohamady and Cole OUT, Konchesky and Vidic IN, for a 4 point hit this week. In other words, 3 points out and 15 points in.

Yes, I know. The season is more than one gameweek.

I'm in a similiar situatio McN, in my opinion you have to take a hit there.

Just try and make it as calculated as possible so you can recoup your 4 points back asap.

Has anyone ever used 2 freebies in one week to make moves for the following week? (where the players coming in will be benched this week?), reason I ask is that I have already done Elmo OUT Bardsley IN to avoid losing .1 off Elmo's sale value, and figure it's safe to do bar an injury in training, and now with this Albrighton news, and the likely .2-.3 drop in price, I am contemplating doing Albrighton OUT MGP IN this week, will monitor Albrighton's price, shouldn't drop that much so i can probably wait until the weekend, but I just wondered!

I would save the other unless MGP is going up, as it will rollover and if u get MGP this week just to sit on your bench and then he picks up an injury u might have just wasted the transfer.

I'm not sure Tevez will be affected that badly if he is playing alongside Balotelli.

If they play 433 still i'm pretty sure Balotelli will play on one of the flanks, the same system they're playing now, so i doubt the impact will be that significant.

If they switch to 442 then Tevez would likely share a few more points with Balotelli, but similarly it would be a bit more positive for City and so more points to be shared?

Either way Tevez is always gonna play his life out and put the effort in - his returns being affected aren't something i'm particularly concerned with yet.

He is also on penalties. People forget this about players sometimes. I have never seen Balotelli play except when he scored those 2 goals against Wolves? But he seemed quite good then. I am holding off on both this week and looking at how they perform and how Drogba does.

i'm deciding between drogs/vdv, but going drogs i think because of newcastle's missing backs and chelsea looking to rip a team. vdv is always good at home so far, but had an ankle knock and might not be 100%.

Cheers man, I have VDV so far but I also just read the info on his ankle...It sounds like he should be ok by the weekend and if I go by value then my captaincy will go to Drogs anyway. It looks like Fabs could be rested for his game tonight and then he might be up for it for Saturday too. Might stick with VDV with the auto on tough I reckon.

Golden boy Aaron Ramsey's back! This means trouble for Fabregas who is currently occupying Ramsey's position in midfield.

Wenger, loves to wax lyrical about Ramsey being the future of Arsenal. Pretty sure Wenger would have Ramsey's love child if he could, so don't be shocked to see Fabs being subbed on 60 to 70 mins from now on.

LOL @ this post. However good Ramsey is I doubt he will be taking 30 minutes of off Fabregas I am sure Wenger would rather keep him happy and perhaps staying at Arsenal next season rather than have a recovering Ramsey take his position. Obviously if Arsenal are 4-0 up after 60 minutes it will happen but the only time I see that in the forseeable future is Stoke and Wenger won't want to put him back out there again.

On paper my starting 3 isn't too bad Kolarov Cashley and Coleman. To be fair I have gone for the attacking defenders but would like the supposed added bonus of a clean sheet some time. I also have Jara and Hutton though. Hutton needs to go. There's a point. Haven't considered that this week.... Freebie to Bardsley perhaps?
